Its the Seagull 1963 Chinese Airforce watch, allegedly a prototype made for the PLAA (no real proof of that though).
The Seagull ST1901 movement in it is a copy (a good one) of the Lemania 1873 which has been used in many different watches.
You can get them in the EU from Here (http://www.watchunique.com/seagull-1963.html)
I posted the first pic in the Climber Club thread yesterday, but it fits here as well, so why not, and another one with a few more items exclusively for here.
Wathces: two Casios (won't bother with model numbers, the battery just died in the sporty one a couple of days ago) and a Timex Expedition; SAK's: black early Golfer (Compact without the hook), black Climber, early Grand Prix with silvertech scales, ruby Classic SD. I must admit that the Classic and the Grand Prix sees very little carry.

jaya_man, that double LUME shot is great! :cheers:Thanks VictorLouis :hatsoff:
I spent my whole working life working alone almost always. There were a few times I had help, such as my son Douglas & his sister. But those times were all to seldom. I did heating and air conditioning & appliance repair. That doesn't sound too bad but ir is very physically demanding & will take a huge toll on your body. It also is a hard life for a watch. I had a couple of very nice, high dollar watches & loved them. Problem was my lifestyle destroyed rhem.:tu: :like:
I learned to appreciate a dependable watch that was a bit lower in cost. So without further adeau I give you Timex.

I've got the Sinn new at my Air force time back in 1995, when money wasn't short
This was the German Airforce pilots issue. They used this model from Sinn and alternatively one from Tutima (same movement, different buttons). Tested to be accurate at 8g :D
I had a friend travelling to Frankfurt am Main to buy one from the factory, as these were not available at any Jewellery or Watchmaker shop back in 1995.

Sinn 756 chronograph and Wenger Soldier (1990). The Sinn is one of the first issue of this model with the case made from Damasko ice-hardened steel (later issues used steel hardened by a different process that they refer to as tegiment treatment).
EDIT: Credit to McStitchy, whose post above inspired this one. Sinn and Alox go together rather well I think!

Very cool, BCL! Is the dial DOXA-branded as well as the movement? Let's see the front!
Myron
Hm, wonder if there is someone who restores watches like these. Question is what the price point will be :think:Seems to be pretty pricey. All in all the dial crystal is discolored but once opened the dial itself isn't so bad. Perhaps some polywatch? :dunno:
I have my great-great-grandfather's Zenith p/w and it has a plastic crystal. It was made in 1912, so, yes, they were using them that early. Thanks Myron, Currently since cleaning it’s been reliably ticking away 15 seconds faster than the invicta which sports the NH35 movement.
I'm sure you could find someone to service it for you, but I suspect you'd spend $300-$500 and that's if you don't need parts. Send me a PM if you'd like the name and contact details for the guy I use, BC. He's in Pennsylvania, just FYI.
Myron
Lovely pic, Sir Vic!Very cool Riz. My parents would throw everything away, I know how parental clean-ups can go.
IReminds me that I have an old Seiko 5, so here’s a pic of my EDC combo of yesteryear, some 39 years old now! My old Seiko 5 and my first SAK, the Master Craftsman/Astronaut (it had blurb saying how it was used as a piece of kit on space shuttle missions by NASA, sadly since lost along with the box when my parents tidied up whilst I was away at university....) now sporting blue + scales to replace the badly scarred originals - the metal bracelet on the Seiko also suffered badly getting knocked on metal shelving over many years of use in a supermarket when I stacked shelves to pay my way through university and is long gone, though the Perspex watch glass has cleaned up nicely with Brasso and all the scratches are gone, leaving only a small crack which no amount of polish will remove! Given it’s cheap price (it was less than the SAK!) it was surprisingly accurate and lasted me 11 years before getting replaced with a mechanical TAG Heuer Which I gave to friend some 6 years later after he was mugged and had his watch stolen - I was after a “new” secondhand in any case at the time from Austin Kaye on the Strand (anyone else remember them - used to be one of the few places to get good secondhand watches before the internet?), an Ebel Voyager since sold on for a small profit!
Any how, enough rambling, and here they are, the fruits of my labour in Tesco in autumn 1981:
... and Pilsner bier of course

I agree. The tool and watch are both wonderful but that photography shows some real skill.SVL is legend around these parts with ol’ photograph works
How is it precision wise? Do you have to adjust the time very often? No comment......
No comment......
It was running exactly 15 seconds behind for a few days. It’s a non hacking movement so I thought that was not to bad, recently it’s developed a mind of its own so I began playing with adjustments. every morning I set/compare to the NIST atomic clock, but it’s for fun. If you don’t fiddle with the insides, I’m sure it would be fine for days-weekish. I think that’s part of the quirkinesses of the watch though too.
I recommend to anyone who enjoys watches.

You've never heard of Longines? One of the most traditional Swiss brands!I didn’t get into watches until past March right before lockdowns and layoffs. I got laid off of work and found some old watches in the house then fell down another rabbit hole I’m a noob by all accounts.
Unfortunately the watch is not mine, just borrowed from a friend from the watch forum for couple of days.
I never try to make my watch and knife match, although I think it's an awesome concept. I've seen some very sexy examples of that on this thread. That being said, here are a couple of pairings that I think work pretty well.

Lovely pairing. How do you like the North Flag?Love it. Bought it about 2 years back. Keeps great time. Takes a beating without breaking a sweat. A great tool watch. No idea why Tudor discontinued it. It was their take on the Explorer.
I will look forward to it! Tudor's in-house movements are just incredible, aren't they? I've owned two Black Bays and both MT calibers were near-perfect time-keepers. I currently am down to just the Black Bay 58 blue, and it's one of my all-time favorite watches. Perfect in every regard!Unfortunately I’m 50/50 on their MT calibers. I bought a BB58 925 (sterling silver case) earlier this year from an AD. After a month the movement would stop moving while wearing it. Wasn’t an issue with winding. Brought it back and they sent it back to Tudor for review. Tudor confirmed it’s defective and needs parts replaced. They’ve had it since early July. I’ve been told it will be done in December. So after buying a brand new luxury watch and wearing it one month, I’ve had to be without said watch for almost 6 months. The AD said refund or replacement was not possible.

That Tudor is lovely, I'm sorely tempted to get one, but there are a couple of others on the list as well :tu:What’s on your want list?
I have this watch, kinda wish I went with another but I like it because each hour has a number rather then just a mark, anyway my one problem is my wrist size and wearing the strap it’s in the 2nd to last hole, so I was wondering if anyone knows a good band I can swop it out with? It’s supposedly a 18mm..You should get a nato strap.

Oh boy, what a pair of contemporaneous beauties! Have you had the Seamaster serviced recently? Wondering where you sent it.... I know of one watchmaker in North America, maybe two, who would undertake that.I bought the watch fairly recently, and as I understand it the watch was serviced. The caseback and crown gaskets were all fantastic and the amplitude and beat error are near perfect. As for an excellent watchmaker I send my stuff to one in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He’s the best of the best as far as I’m concerned. He’s so good that he’s a Rolex certified service center and one of only a few in the nation!
And the SAK is beautiful!
