El Corkscrew has started the Hoffritz club and there seems to be quite a few who collect the Hoffritz knives. So I was thinking of making Wednesday a Hoffritz day for those who have them. So I am sending an open invitation to all of you who would like to carry your Hoffritz on Wednesday to post them and if you haven’t posted, here is a chance to do so. I know there are a few I wouldn’t mind seeing again!

Today I will be carrying my Hoffritz...

Nice..... :tu: I carry this one quite often, just covers a lot of bases. Most of the small Master Craftsmen that I have seen are Hoffritz marked.

:like: That is very nice! And with the small clip blade :tu:

I couldn't resist being here for day one of the Hoff Wed :tu:
I really love this bracket, it makes a great shelf

Very nice Fieldmaster, surely don’t see as many of those as Huntsmen..... :tu:
Don’t carry this one too often but today seemed appropriate......

Dang. Almost every day is a Hoffritz day for me. Didn't think about this thread. And I was carrying a non-Hoffritz champ for the challenge. I guess I know what I'll carry for the next several Wednesdays!
It's taking some adjusting getting used to planning what I'm carrying for the day. I usually just grab one or two on the way out of the house.
Yesterday was Wednesday somewhere else in the world:

So caught up in my mod project yesterday, I FORGOT this came in time for Hoffritz Wednesday:

There's a bit of re-profiling done on this one. Worst part is probably the SD tip on the can opener, but happy with it so far. Main blade is sharpened ok but needed cleaning to get it to snap, but fine now with 5 mins of cleaning. Always a relief to hear that snap return! :woohoo:
I did carry the HoffChamp for the January challenge yesterday. Only did box cutting for garbage/recycling pickup.

Wanted to get a Hoffritz for the SC and my collection but couldn’t find one in time. Still looking. Nice one by the way! :like: :tu:
-
Thanks, Ray. It's a pretty good copy and I didn't feel the need to fix anything when I got it. You could always 'make' one with the right stamped scale for any '86-'90 version of SC. They came in black and red. I have a black Champion c. '83 and a '87+ Climber

Neat red sleeve came with it...too bad it's cracked and damaged.
I'll have to catch up a bit with some of the recent Hoffritz additions, now that the Challenge is done.

Post +PAT c. '72 Hoffritz Outdoorsman ... Could be one of the non +PAT late '60s, because it has a scissor liner that looks earlier than other knives I have from the c. '72 range. Otherwise, this would indicate when (c. '72) Victorinox stopped stocking this type of liner in the typical fashion that Hoffritz knives often have discontinued parts. It's relatively rare since it is only used with new-style and non-LNF scissors when it is adjacent to the opener layer. I think this liner was created because the 'full' liners made it a bit crowded and took too much clearance away with the new style scissors and openers.
Not the best condition and I need to get to the cleaning and light misc. repairs on this one. Missing the right tweezers.

 Thanks, Ray. It's pretty good, but the serrated blade has a tip bend and the pruner edge has some nasty twisting and missing the tip. And the whole thing hasn't been cleaned at all since I've owned it. I was just side-by-side viewing it with a near-mint Hoffritz Picnicker/Campingmesser so it's gonna seem filthy compared. Everything matches that one and not the other earlier Hoff +PAT / no shackle Picnicker. So I'm pretty sure this one *is* c. '72 and not more than +/- 1 full year.

Yeah, a side by side will find flaws in the cleanest knives. No hiding there! :tu:

I should have taken some shots facing the edge. Sharp line reflections are more of what I use to evaluate the waviness and where to hammer.
Both are pretty sharp despite the nicks. Not planning on sharpening it just yet.

I should have taken some shots facing the edge. Sharp line reflections are more of what I use to evaluate the waviness and where to hammer.
Both are pretty sharp despite the nicks. Not planning on sharpening it just yet.
Wow...very good! :tu:

I think this is a Handy Boy. There's a nice patina on the nickel silver liners.

I’m a little bummed out...I left Florida to come up to Georgia and forgot my Hoffritz ‘s . The only two SAK is my favorite Woodsman and the OHO!
Also in the wooden tool chest was my pencils and fly typing stuff! And my pillow
-
Ugh. I hope that's not too long a trip away from home then.

I’m thinking 3 or 4 months...might be able to get down on a 3 day holiday weekend! See what happens!

'75 D11061 TRAVELER (Climber):
This is the earliest HOFFRITZ inlay scale that I have. Magnetic inlays, black scissor spring and H/VSSR tang stamps, etc. verify '75 construction. All Hoffritz tang stamps after this are H/SSR, so knives with both the inlay and these tang stamps are relatively rare.
-
I just checked mine and 4 are H/SSR and only 1 is H/VSSR. Great information!

Very nice, but tell me about the pen! Is it a Swiss made?
It's not a pen or Swiss made, but a pocket sharpener! p/n 37540 made in Germany. Shown in the '79 Hoffritz / Edwin Jay catalog. The knives in the shot are also the same ones from that page, btw. Missed getting a second sharpener this summer. That's what I get for going on family vacation!

It's my first knife, I think only the small blade is used. I haven't used it at all in about 25 years, since I got my second SAK. It's a keepsake now.

Doing the Fieldmaster challenge this month so this one...
:tu: Looks good Ray! My guesstimate for yours is c. ‘76 and that it would be a C11169 TOPSIDER. Does it have a ‘gray’ double-leaf scissor spring?
——
A few of mine that I haven’t posted before. A pair of Hobbyist/Tinker Small ‘78 (w/ inlay) and pre-‘71.5 (+PAT). The post-‘71.5 Topsider 11169 for the Challenge and an Explorer/Master Craftsman F11037 c. ‘80/‘81

 Thanks and thanks, Ray! That black spring means it's more like '75/'76. Somewhat rare as the black spring is normally or more often found with the HSS tang. And the ones I have like this are with the stainless Hoff inlay. So it also teaches me that this overlap is a bit longer and starts a bit earlier than I thought. :tu:

J11002 AMERICANA
I can’t think of any other Vic knife that had stainless inlays *and* exposed rivets. Perhaps aside from the Pocket Pals of the same era. But I suspect those may have only gotten nickel silver shields like the other older one.
