Title: Need help posting pictures
Post by: HarleyXJGuy on November 22, 2016, 09:48:11 PM
So my love affair with photobucket has come to an end. Issues keeping the site up and the barrage of ads has killed it for me.

Made a Flickr account but am having issue posting up my pictures.

Can anyone help me with posting Flickr oictures or finding a different webhost for dummies?

This is the only link i can find in the Flickr app but it does not work here with the img around it.

Thanks.

imgur is a very popular host and it also allows you to organise photos into albums and share the whole album. It has an android app so I'm guessing it supports IOS too if you use that.

Nice photo by the way, now I want a brew.

Easiest if you do it from the desktop version of the flickr site. Click on the little arrow bottom right, select BBCode on the pop-up, and choose the size of pic you want in the bottom drop down menu. Then copy the code, including the img tags from the box:

I don't think you can do it from the mobile app at all, at least not on android.

It is possible on mobile - you need to navigate to the photo page in your browser, select 'view and edit info about this photo...' then 'view all sizes' then select the size of image you want, then open the image in a new tab, then copy the image URL, then paste it into the reply box with the img tags... :ahhh

I also use imgur although not on a mobile device. I use the hugh thumbnail size pic setting which works great on this site.

I can also set you up an account on the Multitool.org Gallery (http://gallery.multitool.org/) if you like.

Or shrink the image and upload it directly to this site in the post

How do i place a imgur picture here?

To start with go to imgur and click new post at the top of the screen and upload images. Select the image you wish to share.

Once you have done that you should come to a screen with your image, and the ability to give your post a title etc. If you move the cursor over the image a little box will appear. Click the little dropdown menu next to copy and click share options.

Then copy and paste the BBCODE option into your post.

There used to be an app called Xotof that helped uploading photos to the gallery, but I don't believe Xotof or the gallery software we are using is still being supported.  Unfortunately that means that if something isn't working, it probably never will.

Harley, my flickr works perfectly (see my sweet sweet pics for evidence) so if you send me the OC Farmer I will photograph it and definitely send it back to you.

Testing my flickr skills.....

...fail.

I use to use photobucket to post photos, but that resource is now a nightmare. I tried opening a Flickr account, but I don't seem to be able to get a 'BB code', only a URL. Is it [still] possible to use Flickr to post photos to this forum?

Thanks in advance.

Lots of people use Flickr, so I imagine so. I don't, so I can't help.  :(

Imgur is really easy by the way, on the mobile site:

I get the pics I want to post to my computer. I then upload them as attachments to a post. After that, the pics URL can be used to insert them directly in any other post.

There are programs on the internet to make photos smaller. Or you can change the camera settings so it takes smaller photos in the first place.  :)

So....imgur is the winner.

And fairly easy to use. Grumbling over.

Late but info is info. Below is for desktop, their app doesn't run on my phone.

So I got pics moves to Flickr.  Which option do I use to share them in a forum post?

Once uploaded click on the pic you want to share.
On the next page there will be five icons down the bottom right.
The right pointing arrow in the middle is share, click it.
Select bbcode and size wanted, copy and paste the code provided.
Here is one of mine for example. Well, three examples.

Click here https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,71727.msg1464450.html#msg1464450 for more details on breaking down the bbcode if needed.

If I have a photo which is too large I've been using a photo editor site to resize it, saving it in my pictures file & then using the forum "attachments and other options" facility.
