Looks good to me.  Where is the inline philips? In the same layer as the pliers?  I assume that's black cerakote?

I am sorry, but you clearly ignored the rule that opened pics are mandatory for cool custom cutlery around this forum - Be ashamed that a newbie like me has to remind you.  :D

Maybe i might forget about your fauxpas if you would dend this piece of fine craftmanship my way to let me do some load out pics and test it out....

Joking aside - It looks very good, but i want soem more pics. Any experience about the Cerakote on tools by now? You did your own EDc iirc?!

Little update if someone didn't notice it in the "Beautiful" thread:

After almost a month of EDCing my Super Soldier, the cerakote is starting to show some wear, the inline phillips, the bottle opener, has some wear, but suprisingly the saw is ok.  (I almost cut down a whole tree with it.)

excellent work

did you make a custom back-spring for the pliers then?

with that thread about making a combo tool from the bottle opener in mind, I was thinking it would be cool to make the bottle opener on the OHT a combo tool and then replace the can opener with something, a small knife or scissors that one could use in those public people might get nervous around OHT main blade events.

that said i have been carrying my deluxe tinker cause there are times i find the pliers handy, good choice as well

Little status update as of today:

Mind you, this baby is with me 24-7, and I'm using it as intended, that's why the cerakote is getting worn. :) Love the worn look though.

did it fit that way too?  i'm surprised about that, that the holes lined up right.

am i correct in thinking you added side locking 111mm tools to the OHO knife?

i'm still a little foggy on how that works.  the side locking 111mm tools fit on OHO knife (do holes need to be widened or something).  but the OHO blade requires modification to fit on the side locking 111mm knife?

i bumped a thread that shows a modder put a OHO blade on a 111mm knife keepin both blades.  that's the direction i'm heading...

thanks

Actually this was a soldier to start with. So the locking mechanism was already there.
Title: Re: The Super Soldier
Post by: WiSAKfan on January 07, 2013, 02:08:40 AM
and tools were from a hercules or similar knife?
Title: Re: The Super Soldier
Post by: WiSAKfan on January 07, 2013, 06:12:11 AM
i think i am over thinking this  :climber:

as long as i'm using the backspring of the OHO and it's locking liner then it should fit in 111mm side locking knife, i;d just have to deal with the different pin stock sizes.

what gets tricky or impossible would be using just OHO blade itself as a drop in replacement of the side locking blade
Title: The Super Soldier
Post by: tattoosteve99 on January 07, 2013, 02:36:00 PM
Unfortunately the tangs of the knife are different. The side locking and OHO are very different :(.

Unfortunately the tangs of the knife are different. The side locking and OHO are very different :(.

which should only matter if you are trying to replace just the side locking blade with the OHO blade right?

if you are using the OHO backspring with the OHO blade then it shouldn't matter right?

hopefully my new parts come in quick so i can start to work on this without all this guessing...

thanks

I had a little problem with the Super Soldier. I had lost it. BUT I found it after two weeks in my own garden. Thankfully neither the freezing temperatures, neither the snow did any damage.

Since then, I always triple check that is the knife on me... I don't want to re-live that feeling what I felt when I thought I had lost it. :D

that would be the worst feeling, glad to hear you found it.

well half of my parts came today for new project, a hercules.  hopefully the OHO Sentinel gets here tomorrow.

this is my second hercules, pretty good knife in it's right but i won't feel bad tearing it apart, needs a good cleaning and a good sharpening...

the hercules i got today is monogrammed BAD

my new mod will be BAD in a good way

Somehow I missed this thread.  Probably because I was dealing with a warranty reaplacement of my tractor at the time it first posted...

BUT:

After reviewing through this thread I have a few bullet points.

1.  Wow. :o
2.  Borgwarrior, if that was your brainchild, it's brilliant.  :tu:
3.  Steve: Your workmanship is beautiful AND durable!  The Cerakote looks fantastic!  Most of the cerakoted tools I have look pretty ratty in a fairly short order.  Again, superior work.
4.
5. Could we a picture of how you carry that Borgwarrior?  I'd also like to see an "action" shot, just to see how it fits in your hand.
6.  This thread needs a re-direct to Victorinox corporate offices.

 :)

The pocket clip on this model is screwed to the outer liner. It has spacers under it to it from collapsing. I wasn't to keen with just attaching it to the scale for fear of it popping off. No problem now as it won't come off ;)

a pic would be worth a thousand words on that but i like the idea as i understand it.

Am I right in thinking that without the saw this would be about the same thickness as the OHT?

Man, pliers, knife, opener layer, inline Philipps, corkscrew… that would be a great loadout.
Title: Re: The Super Soldier
Post by: WiSAKfan on February 10, 2013, 03:17:15 PM
the pliers layer is a thick one, it would still be a little wider then a OHT

Kinda necroing I think, but I'll post an update because this week came the first sharpening for the blade. I had hoped that I don't have to sharpen it yet, but I had to, so bye cerakote. :(

Anyways, the SAK is as good as it was the first day I got it, clip holds A+, I only have to tighten the torx screws every 2-3 months. Steve, I can't stop loving your work. :)

Cerakote has all my respect, since I tought it wouldn't hold up this well. (Don't forget, this is my EDC knife :D )

Title: Re: The Super Soldier

I have no proven technique for it, so I just use the Vic little sharpy.

It's not the best option, I know
Title: Re: The Super Soldier
Post by: HankSolon on February 13, 2014, 03:31:56 PM
I would recommend a Spyderco triangle sharpmaker. You don't need to buy the hole set, a replacement stick "medium" is way enough.

Edit:
On the road it's allways a good idea to have a felco 902 with you. It has a round edge on the side, which can be abused for serrations. However, it may need a little mod, to get a smaller radius. (For the main blade I don't like serrations, but that's just my gusto)

Could you measure the width of the knive for us curious minds? I try to mod something similiar in the distant future.

And for sharpening: I have the Victorinox Pocket sharpener, the pen-like one with V-sharpener and blue ceramic rod. It fit's the serrations really well but might be a little to coarse for your liking.

Sorry for the laaaaaaaaate reply. 22 mm in width, without the clip. With the clip, its 30.

@Steve: It's still going stong, and it's still my daily driver! :) The cap opener started to wobble a bit, but thats kinda my fault, used it as a prying tool.

:twak: you should know better. If you need it tightened up just remove the scales and tap that pin lightly untold it's tight again :).

It's not THAT problematic, YET.  I'm not too keen on removing the scales either lol
