As most people know, satisfying your gear-hunger can turn out to be quite a knock-out for your budget :twak:
So, let's discuss how you earn/save/get money for the new item you want to buy, how much you've saved so far and how much more you have to save, etc :D
For some of my Maxpedition wallets I earned by just selling other things online :D I use our BG auctions as eBay charges me much higher fees.
The last money I got (which I've asked for advice what to spend on here http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,37152.msg597179.html#msg597179 (http://>>> ) I earned by selling two huge piles of old magazines, which I wanted to get rid of, to some collector, it seems, plus a little saving... lol.
And, of course, it's always nice win something for free from a YouTube contest :woohoo:
But in general I don't want to touch the money I earn from my jobs, because once I do it, there'll be no stopping... and it may get dangerous :poh:

 :ahhh :ahhh :D
For me i dont touch my earnings from my job as we need every penny of it ,i use to sell on ebay but cant sell nowt for toffee on there these days and end up just paying there stupid fee's, well you can sell if you sell for next to nothing, i use to also pick stuff up from the markets and re-sell on the net but not much been around to sell, so for me its pretty hard buying new stuff, so for me i use my stuff and move on what i dont need and try other stuff out, i dont really collect as i hate stuff stuck in a draw or box so its user stuff for me, ive tried a lot of MT's and sak's over the years so pretty much no what i need these days, i just come on here and  at other folks stuff :D :tu:

Me toooo :D So when I satisfy my hunger for a certain thing, I try to get rid of it... :D And get some $ in exchange, though :D and invest in sth new ... :D

When I first started collecting, I'd get obsessive about a tool I wanted. This happened when the local WalMart carried the SOG Powerlock (for two weeks, then they dropped it ). I haven't sold anything to get a multitool, but in that case I did spend money best earmarked for more important things. I just had to have it. When I collected Bear MTs I used to really blow money. Then I wouldn't eat lunch that week or the next (actually helped...).

A while back I heard something and decided to give it a try. Whenever I get a $5 bill, I don't spend it - I put it in an envelope I keep in my dresser. I was surprised how much I put aside in a short period of time. That's my toy money. :) I also have a coin-counting jar that keeps track of loose change put into it. Once a month I empty it and cash in at the bank. You'd be surprised how much change and $5s you come across in a month.....Right now, I have to build it back up, went on a bit of a spree over the past two weeks. But, that's exactly what that money is there for, so no worries. :tu:

It's funny that you mention that, I'm just going to be starting my first real full time job this summer, and my mom told me that on Friday. She said she read somewhere that in three years some guy saved up $10,000. So that's what i'm going to be doing pretty soon.

I'm considering selling blood.

I'm considering selling blood.
In the US, it's now illegal to sell blood.
But perfectly legal to sell plasma or bone marrow stem cells. ;)
-
What's this money stuff you guys are talking about? You must mean Multitool credits...
Stay multi my friends

Do your banks charge you for that, btw? :D

It's illegal here, too, but people manage to do it... lol
I was considering something less painful- like robbing a bank, for example. This way I could afford a larger MT. hehe

So shall we all gang up robbing the Fed or something? :ahhh

 Right. If 100 & more MTs can't open a few safes what were they made for ?!

Yes, with all the SAKs, Leatherman and knives we have enough tools for different type of tasks.

Depends on the bank. Some do, some will if you're not a customer of theirs, some don't. My bank doesn't either way. :tu:

I earn most of mine from modding. Not just here but at home. There's lots of people that ask me " Hey Steve can you fix ....this or that?". Usually I say yes and then tell them a decent price. It hoped me through my unemployment for a year so it's all good. I mod all kinds of stuff. From bags, gear..to pens and pencils.

when i travel at work they give me 35 bucks a day for food expense. I taco bell it and pocket the rest for toys.

I've been doing something similar with £2 coins, every time I get one I'm dropping it in a piggy bank. It'll be interesting to see how much I have when it's full. :D

My wife and I have always had a system that worked, but I found that I was spending way too much money so I cut my "allowance" down by 70% or so. Now I feel broke but I still have enough spare to buy a multi a month and it doesn't touch our bills money. I just don't eat out anymore unless we go together, and we really try not to very often. Life got real expensive in the last few months so I had to adapt pretty quick. I still manage to get a few toys here and there but from now till most likely thanksgiving or Christmas I'll be either on spending lockdown or limited to trades. I know my spare cash for this month is gone, I bought the Rebar and an old Wave so I am taxed!
-
Beg my wife, much like most of the people here.
Oh come on, you know you do it.
-
How about implementing a tax system? Each dollar you spend on anything pay yourself 20%. Eg. If you spend $50 in the grocery store, you put $10 in the saving box. You buy a $10 dinner, put $2 in the saving box. This way not only you pay your earning to other people, you got to pay yourself too.

Oh how true! ;D

I actually save the coins in my pocket at the end of the day in a jar. At the end of the month, I usually save enough for a nice dinner for two for me and my wife...
After which, I ask her for money for a multitool.

Modding, for a moment I thought you meant modeling :tu:
