Title: PST concern
Post by: RaptorMan on February 19, 2009, 05:47:18 PM
Has anyone seen this type of condition on their PST or any other Leatherman. It appears that the center  (i am not sure what to call it) has about a .5mm gap and it can be rotated with my fingers.

Below is a pic of what I am talking about.

It happened to my PST.  That prompted one of the returns for repair.  Leatherman covered it.

I had that happen to my very first PST . There was loads of play in the plier jaws and if you rotated the pivot pin with your fingers it tightened up  :D Until you used it again  :( Bugged the hell out of me so I sold it and got a Gerber  :o Things went from bad to worse until I discovered Vic's  :D

Well if you send it in I hope they can fix it instead of replace it :tu:

I have a Gerber that has exactly this problem, but one half of the pivot has cit-outs in it so it can be tightened again (if I can find a tool to fit it). Looks like the PST pivot isn't intended to be tightened by us "end users" though.

I hope to get the sideclip and maybe send that in with the supertool and PST I have. So the return is on hold for now.

Dude, what do you do to your tools?  That must be the 50th tool you've returned to them in the past year.  :P

No wonder they've changed there returns policy, and it's all Nikko's fault :twak:

Maybe that policy just applied to Nikko?  :D

That happened to the pivot in my beater KF4, I think it was because of some twisting I did with them. It really only affects the wire cutters. It doesn't bother me too much, it's just part of the tool. And like Dunc said, if you need it tight, you can just spin it around until it tightens up. :D

My tools have reached the factory, and they are entering tools from the 23rd.. I should have the tool in 2.5-3 weeks time!  :drink:
