We needed a Fixed-blade Friday (FBF) thread, so here it is.
Show off your fixed-blade knives! All makes, all styles, all price-points!
- Tell us what you use them for or when they are carried.
- Give us some history of why you chose it.
Here are just a few categories, feel free to show off other styles (as long as they are fixed-blade knives)...
- Hunting
- Camping
- Fillet
- Military (Combat)
- New
- Vintage
- Neck
- Boot
- EDC (if you dare)
- Bushcraft
- Tactical
- Diving
- Throwing
- Rambo (I had to include this category)
- Create your own category

Here is my first entry for FBF!
COLD STEEL GI TANTO
I've had this formidable fixed-blade for many years. While searching for a heavy-duty, yet not uncomfortable to wear knife, I stumbled upon the CS GI Tanto.
It's accompanied me on many day hikes, as well as every camping trip over the past few years. Batoning, cropping and digging are just a few of the tasks I have utilized this knife for.
This hunk of 1055 steel definitely stands near the top of the heap in my small collection of camping and bushcraft knives.

Oh yeah, bring on the Bucks! Loving the sheath, too!
I like your little companion.
-
The Buck 113 is my fave, I’m a big fan of the 110 and 112 (who isn’t :dunno: ) and so the 113 was a must buy
That slimy little fella is an Australian red triangle slug, that’s just a baby, for some reason I’m quite fond of them :D
-
I have a 112 and love it! Such a wonderful traditional camping/hiking folder. I definitely see the family resemblance with your 113.

I missed this thread
Was looking over a few fix blades this morning, next thing I am taking photos🤪
Anyone detect a theme?

I own a few knives same as yours, and particularly like the ESEE JG5 Nessmuk, and maybe it is the heat treat, it makes a nice 'ding' sound whenever I use it for something.
Btw, James Gibson also has a nice field sharpening video on youtube, it could be rather accurate if utilized with the marker trick.

Happy FBF, everyone! :woohoo:
Here is my dad's Boy Scout knife. Glad I have it.
-
That's great that you have your dads knife ! :tu:
-
My first real knife , a William Rodgers made in Sheffield. It was my present for my 7th B-day.
-
Great to see it survived a 7 year old. Speaks well of the make quality ;)
It's beautiful, BTW.

Here's my Izula for the FBF!
I carry the Izula every time when I take a daytrip to the woods or when Im at the cabin. Bought it around 11 years ago and I've been very pleased with this little powerhouse that's never let me down. I've batoned much with it, dug some pine resin, made feathersticks and done carving with it. I have very much trust for this one. If I lost my Izula I would get a new one, but maybe the II model with longer handle.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20230901/6f3265aa86d97e19aa67a8a2d0b1e631.jpg)

That looks like a larger one and beautiful. What's the total length?
-
Some fantastic fixies, y'awl! :tu:
I'll play, too. This one doesn't have any great history, but it was pulled out of the mystery box. It's a CRKT Civet, and it's been getting some carry time lately.

It does kinda look larger than it actually is, it’s 9” total length with a 5” blade :iagree:
Very light and nimble in the hand, a perfect size in many ways, I’m particularly fond of it
As you can see in the comparison pic below, the blade is an inch longer than the 110 but the handle shorter
