Title: Using toothpick to install split ring
Post by: lazar on January 25, 2024, 11:39:16 AM
Saw this in a video and thought I'd share.  Messing with those split rings can be a pain, especially on those smaller ones that come with the 58mm sak's.  What you do is insert the toothpick into the split ring.  Once it's in there, it makes it super easy to put on any accessories and then on the knife.  Once every thing is on, just remove the toothpick and spin the split ring like you normally would and viola!  Pics below.

Lazar, in case you didn't know, there's a badge for unusual toothpick use. Methinks you can apply for it. And Thanks for the hint.  :hatsoff:

Just today I used the tip of my Delica to do that. I like to live dangerously. And on the table right next to me was a Climber and its toothpick...

I’ve long used the standard Vic can opener on stubborn split rings, but this toothpick method also seems to work well.

Definitely a cool idea and a novel use for the toothpick.
