I think there's enough of us now to start an owners club.
We'll be the best balanced owners club in the forums...!
I've got one in grey, what about you?
-
I've also got a gray one.

I do have to say I'm really liking it so far. :tu: I haven't carried another tool since I got it! I've been pairing it with a Vic Waiter so I have some can opening ability at work, which I need.
-
Mines on work EDC tomorrow ,with my red Alex Cadet :sak:
-
Mine is in grey too. Anyone have the green one?

I'm in. Grey one here too :)
-
So we all have the gray one. Interesting..... How are you guys liking it so far? I'm absolutely loving mine. I've had it one me every day since I got it. At work I've been pairing it with a Vic Waiter for the combo tool, need a can opener a fair bit at the store.

I'm thinking about joining this club at some point, how are the wire cutters and scissors ?
-
Scissors work well in my experience, but don't feel as well finished as those on a MP400. They've cut everything I've thrown at them so I don't have any real complaints.

The cutters I can't say much about as I cannot recall having cut anything with them yet. Look OK though and my guess is that, as with most anvil type cutters, you'll need to give whatever it is you are cutting a little wiggle to get it to finally part. :)
-
I've found the scissors to be very good, as usual for my Gerbers equipped with them. I've been cutting coupons, paint chips, fiberglass drywall tape, and some fabric with them over the past week and have had no problems. Haven't had a need to use the wire cutters yet.
EDIT: Oh, NOW you post, Gareth? :P You're right, they're not quite as refined as the scissors on my pro Scout, but they work just fine. :tu:

Mine's in my pocket right now and the coating is starting to pick up a bit of "character" :P I've been happy with 3 of the 4 driver bits, but wishing the large flat was larger. I nipped up a door handle earlier, and while it did the job I'd have been happier with a slightly larger driver.
-
Character - that's a good way of putting it. I've been making an effort to keep it in a pocket away from things that will ding it too much, but sometimes it's unavoidable. Given how my Dime looks after being on my keys, I'm not sure why I'm bothering.....
-
I wonder if theres gonna be a Balance specific bit set?
-
Not from the way the Portland guys sounded when I phoned them - it was like a complete alien concept that anyone would actually want to put alternate driver bits in :-\
-
Mine is green. I actually prefer it because the differently-colored handles make it easier to quickly know which handle has the tool I'm looking for.
-
How are you getting along with it? I don't think I've ever fallen for a tool quite as quickly as I have this one.
-
those scissors are like pitbulls...they look strong and bombproof...i'm a join this club soon! great photos!!! another question tho... will the gerber tool bits fit into the balance?
-
I think the Gerber bit set is 1/4", yes? In which case they won't fit. :(

Gerber bit sets are standard 1/4" :tu:
-
That's what I thought. :( I still don't know why Gerber didn't make the Balance able to take a 1/4" bit, much as I like the Balance it's a big downside IMO.

I've a standard 1/4" bit holder that i'm filing down to fit in the balance s/drivers, so i can use any 1/4" bit, i think Gerber might've been thinking about bringing out a bit set??
-
I hope they do....

Excellent! :tu:
Following on from the flow of the older conversation, if anyone wants to "upgrade" their Balance to take full sized bits, the CRKT Getaway Driver works great in it :salute:
Mine still gets some carry time, but I ended up giving away the Getaway Driver, as when I'm carrying the Balance, I'm usually doing so to slim down to the basic essentials... like just the Balance, and nothing else.

Thank you for the information, AW!
When I received my first Balance, I liked it so much, I bought another one for the collection. I was lucky and got them for $19.99 each last year.
I'll be on the lookout for a Getaway driver. Though, like yourself, I carry the Balance when I want a light weight pocket-friendly(yet capable) MT. :iagree:

Well this is worrying. I saw this thread being bumped and thought "I really should have gotten a Balance". Turns out I did years ago and had totally forgotten about it. :ahhh I must have moved it on at some point, but I honestly can't remember when. :dunno:
