Tiger Moth. :drool:It was really something to see up close!
Nice photos. :tu:
Tiger Moth, Sea King, Herky Birds, a Texan (Excuse me, Harvard ;) ), Alpha Jet, very cool. :tu: Is that a Jet Provost or a Tudor in the one pic? Lovely pics so far guys. All I have to contribute right now is a crappy cellphone pic. But they built 18,482 of these, and only two remain flyable.....It is a Tudor. I haven't seen the Snow Birds perform in years, but they put on quite a show!

That's a B-24J Liberator flying over my store back in September. The most produced US combat aircraft ever, and so few are left even on display...... My brothers and I are planning a trip to several museum ships in the area over the next two months. First up on the 24th is the USS New Jersey. Next on the list is the USS Intrepid......
Well, that certainly explains your flying Coke can question in the game thread......Hehe, I was wondering if anyone would make the connection. :D
Any more picture of the C-130J? I think they are the most useful plane for our country anyways :)Sorry if there are duplicates, and if some are not C-130's, doing this quickly from small thumbnails while trying to cook supper. :ahhh
This thread was created in due to the Meeting a VIP thread in the Events sub forum. So here are the Sault Ste Marie Ontario Canada Bushplane Museum shots taken way back in 2009.

Wow.Wow! Just wow!
Very cool stuff. 8)
Terry, do you know what the structure was?
I would be crapping bricks if I were your passenger. Oh wait. I am mildly fearful of heights. Just flying would cause previously said bodily functions irrespective of daring landings on derelict buildings. :D
Very cool Grathr. The fighters in the last two pics are Northrop F-5's. :tu:
I love the Sabre too! :)
Here is another one that I like: the Northrop YB-49, which tried to kick the hell out of the invading Martians by dropping a nuke in George Pals' 'The War of the Worlds' (1953). :D
I found this page a few days ago. Pretty neat, a virtual tour of the cockpit of an English Electric Lightning. :tu:That is really cool! I love how it tells you what everything is when you hover over it! :tu:

Yep I thought that was pretty neat. I remember as a kid seeing NJ Air National Guard F-106's out of Atlantic City doing practice scrambles. This rather monochromatic Airbus A330 was on the apron at Aldergrove today
Try as I might I couldn't get a look at her registration

Several of NASA's RB-57F's have flown missions over Afghanistan, probably as communications relay points. NASA actually pulled an RB out of storage from the boneyard where it had been for over 40 years and returned it to flight status only a few years ago. I know, they're not PR9's, but they're still Canberras........

It's a scary thought...if there's BUFFs still in service in 2046, that'll be one hundred years since the contract was first issued!
Saying that,at work the other day,one of our Romanians asked what the airplane(model) with three engines was. It was a KLM MD11,but he'd never heard of the Boeing 727.
Saying that, there's another kid(a Brit this time!) who didn't know there's a civilian version of the KC135. Talk about things that make you feel old

Comments like those don't occur with my family. For example, while on vacation last month, my stepbrother, two brothers, and myself were in a lively, at times heated discussion at 2am while sitting in the heated pool. The topic? Whether HMS Hood and the Japanese Kongo-class were battlecruisers or fast battleships. Bunch of nerds, I tell ya......

:o a BE.2 and an SE.5! Are those real or replicas Millhouse?
A random mix.
 Spitfire.......
 Spitfire.......
Not just any Spitfire, the last remaining flying example that fought in the Battle of Britain.
Impressive looking birds! What engines do they use? The tailpipes look a bit like J-79's.
The C-5 is big but next to Mikey it really looks huge. Wow! :o :)
Anytime, Baby! Or: Darn Iranians!
I've been fascinated by military aircraft since my early childhood- back then, you could see quite a lot of them flying over Bavaria. (F4 Phantoms, Panavia Tornados, sometimes even F104 Starfighters from Italy, lots of A10 Warthogs, Mirages, Austrian Saab Draakens... interesting times!)
The only plane I never had the chance to see was (NOOOOOO!) the mighty F14 Tomcat.
I was literally collecting EVERYTHING related to the Grumman F14 (Posters, models, patches... you name it!) and my nickname still shows a deep affection for that huge bird.
A first blow was the retirement of all cats in 2006 (Thank you, Cheney, I always knew you were a Dick), too early for me to travel and see them.
The second blow came when Iranians tried to get spare parts for their rotting fleet of Tomcats (Yes, Iran still operates Tomcats...another interesting story).
As a result, most of the remaining Tomcats, stored in the desert, were simply destroyed, ripped apart and anihilated, so no one could get vital parts from them.
And, also bad for me, as a part-time aircraft-part collector, ALL parts of the Tomcat were banned from surplus stores and suchalike,
which menas I'll never get the chance to get my hands on even only a rivet of a real Tomcat. The only memorabilia you can get are keyring-fanblades of dubious origin :-[
What a sad end for such a great plane!
Maybe, one day, I'll be as lucky as these guys in Ireland....

Tomcat
@tomcat81 - my mom's cousin worked for Grumman for decades. He was on the F-14 design team. I got to see the production line at Calverton when I was a kid! :tu:Wooha, that's absolutely amazing!

That must have been the trip of a lifetime for a kid!
Tomcat, impressed!
A few random shots take this year.
Great shots!! :tu: :tu:
Hm. Shouldn't that prop be, well, you know, turning? :whistle:That was from training for an engine failure on a twin. The instructor will cause an engine to fail and you have to firstly control the aircraft on one engine ("asymmetric flying" as it wants to yaw toward the 'dead' engine), then feather the prop on the dead engine so it creates less drag (the prop shown is in the full fine position - it would normally look 'flatter' to the airflow), then restart the dead engine.
Good it was just for training. Looks you're enjoying jourself up there :tu:Hm. We also did whole circuits on one engine.
Battle of Britain Memorial Flight C47 Dakota flew over our house last weekend. 8)Nice... in contrast, I regularly spot a Ju52 over Munich during the summer.

The first two sitting on the side of a chopper with my feet on the skid.
The following three in a semi abandoned military airfield between Athens GA and Chattanooga TN. USA.
The last two just drone shots from home.

Syncop8r, if you watch that clip closely, I think he threw away a roll of toilet paper at 1:31-1:32...any meaning to this besides being funny? He's chasing it down and trying to cut it with his prop. Pretty much the basis for the whole video. :pok:

Who got hurt?
I agree. What is that Derek?I’m honestly not sure. I see it at the airport here every now and then.
