Title: Need an EDC tool pouch!
Post by: Captain Hook on December 12, 2018, 04:35:36 AM
Okay so here's the skinny, I'm a shipping and receiving clerk now and I have to use a a wide variety of tools everyday for work. I need a good tool pouch that doesn't take up a lot of real estate in my hip (I move around a lot) It needs to hold:
Tape Measure
Utility Knife/Box Cutter
Markers/Pens
Leatherman MT 8)
Flashlight
If possible one of those hammer hanger things would be nice to hang my tape gun on temporarily, so my hands can be free without setting it down.
Ooh! ooh! And a cell phone pocket :D

CLC makes some good compact tool carriers. Not sure of the model, but the one I use at work sometimes is pretty good.

A second motion to look Into CLC. We carry their products in store and they seem to make some crazy variety.

DeWalt is slowly releasing more and more side carriers as well.

What kind of tape gun are you carrying?

Yet another vote for CLC.  I've seen a Husky pouch that looked interesting.  (http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/1000/63/632dfb8f-cb7e-4fb3-8c90-969316e6c1f6_1000.jpg)

All of those things (except maybe the tape gun) come with pocket clips....

so "trousers" seems to be the answer....

There's no end of options with work trousers - from standard 5-pocket jeans, to one-sided cargo, standard cargo, cargo-with-extra-slots-on-the-outside, cargo-with-internal-sleaves for rules and pokey things.....

(for reasons completely beyond me, many manufacturers are doing the whole range in denim, if for some reason you prefer that look, or Black, because it became too "low class" to wear blue or khaki at some point - they also do stretch, or with elastic ankle cuffs, or lady-shaped, or high-vis)

I know lots of people love pouches and the like - but you have to wear something on your lower half anyway (for most jobs), so you may as well "kill two birds with one stone" so to speak.....

Really, all you need is a glove clip so you can dangle your mitt-covers (and there's even a recent thread here on good work gloves!)
