Title: leatherman anniversary tools (such as the limited run pst)
Post by: rescue4500 on January 16, 2019, 06:48:47 PM
ever wonder if leatherman will ever put out anymore anniversary tools like the anniversary pst, it would be interesting to see some of there older tools on limited runs.

do you think they ever will?
what retired tool would you like to see and why?

me personally i would love to see the pst 2 (everyone here knows of my love and longing for the pst 2)
but maybe the side clip or mini tool also

what do yall think?

Leatherman must balance their LE and Anniversary models carefully. Their current approach seems OK, to push out low-volume (5k-25k) Anniversary models/sets every 5 years, interspersed with lower-volume (300-1k) expensive LE models.

I’d like to see LM try some exotic materials (eg Titanium) on a Wave. Not just scales, the actual frame made of Ti to save weight. They’ve got the engineering muscle to do this now.

I’d love to see LM release a trinity. Mini Tool, PST and ST. They might be heading this way...?

But not necessarily a rumor. I found it strange that in late 2018 they "accidentally"  showed an original Super Tool with some sale items. It would be fitting ,as 2019 is the ST's 25th anniversary.  The Super Tool has quite the following with industrial users.

Late 2018  i did not see the Og ST listed, but, did see a Photo of the OG ST with it's SE blade deployed on the banner scroll.  An hour later returned to check it closer and it was no longer included.   This was on a Sunday as I recall, about same time Steve started his rumor!

I remember seeing what you and Steve saw, and thinking how fitting it would be.  To be continued, I guess...

I gotta say, though...the thought of spending $250 on a PST, an original of which I can buy here, Craigslist or eBay for under $50 and won't be afraid to use it...250 is nuts just to look at one in the shelf. I'd like to see them come back. Period.

PST
PSTII
Mini
Maybe the OG Super Tool. I'd like to see it, but the lock and unlock mechanism, while simple and strong, could cause a lot of snowflake bloodletting, so I don't think it would go beyond some sort of special edition.
