The Zebra F-701 is a stainless steel clicker ballpoint pen that has been popular for modding. The two most common mods are replacement of the plastic clicker bezel with the metal one from another Zebra pen (the F-402), and replacing the standard refill with a Fisher Space Pen refill.
The latter mod requires pulling out the plastic guide from the nib, trimming the tip of it for clearance, and replacing it. Otherwise it grabs the slightly larger tip of the Fisher refill. It might still work, but it doesn't work smoothly unless modified.

The F-301 has been my go-to pen for a while now, mostly due to its compact size and durability. I may have to grab one of the all steel F-701s for work :tu:
It looks like Amazon has them, but I only see it as an add-on item.

You're right! It looks like the all-metal version is replacing the one that is not all-metal, because that is the exact link I used when I bought my earlier one that has a plastic bezel.

I just saw on another forum that the all-metal F-701 uses a new, 0.8mm refill instead of the 0.7mm refill that the original F-701 uses. That's probably why the Fisher refill fits so well.
I hope they update the F-402 to 0.8mm as well. :tu:

They don't show the telescopic ones in their regular line-up. You have to look for them. I think that's not very smart. People would love to buy them, if they knew about them.

Well thanks to this thread I got one of these :D They are very nice and even with the ink that came with it, it writes well :tu: I will probably swap it out to the Fisher refill eventually but for now it suits me well enough :tu: Will try and get some pics later :salute:
