So, the ability to time an event, using a special, dedicated complication/function on a watch seems useful.
Most basic digital watches will have a stopwatch, some analogue mechanical or quartz ones will also have it and many analogue watches will have a rotating bezel that can be used to time events.
However, most phones also have this function and if you regularly need to time events you will most likely have a dedicated stopwatch system.
I think that I use watch for this purpose once a year... but, analogue chronometers are cool to show off to people.

All the time, to use my phone, unlock it, find the alarm, set it.
Chronograph, push the start button.
Much simpler IMO :salute:
-
I use the timer on my Apple watch when cooking. "Siri, set the timer for 10 minutes" or whatever.
-
I do, rarely. But when I need to, I must have one.
I use countdown more often and alarm daily.
-
I've used the stopwatch on my Gshock and phone for HIIT workouts, or when I want to time a flight. Not much else, otherwise. I do have a chrono on my Bulova analog watch, but haven't used it yet other than to test it out.

The bezel on my dive watch is fine way to time cooking dinner in my household. Simple and effective.

I use the stopwatch almost every day for my morning run.. Very useful, especially some of my watches that can show the current time in the stopwatch mode!
No smartphone, that stays in the car!
-
I use both the bezel and the stop-watch, although not very often.
-
Like kokkolis, I mostly use the countdown and alarm on my watch. I did often use the bezel, on my last watch that had one, to mark the desired time.
-
I use both stopwatch and countdown multiple times daily at work.
We use a glue that has a pot life very close to the time the job takes to do so you need to know how long ago it was mixed and then it has to be baked to cure it.

I use my stopwatch to time my runs. I don't run with a phone.
Also handy to time bridges/planks if I remember to wear it then.

One's name is spelled with a "N", the other's isn't .
One is a humanoid feline, the other one is an extraterrestrial.
One has pointy ears on top of his head, the other has bell pepper-shaped ear at the sides of his head.
Lastly, firiki ain't got no clothes on.

Not sure what the Ferengi do but firiki's grandmas would cut off firiki's... tail... if the price wasn't high enough.
Given that the price would never be high enough for them, firiki wouldn't take any chances
