Title: They're alive!
Post by: Grant Lamontagne on December 04, 2018, 02:26:18 AM
I was somewhat concerned about how well my DeWalt drill and reciprocating saw would have survived, having been left lying out in my garage for a couple of years, especially when I opened my garage a couple of days ago and found it almost entirely full of rat turds.  I am going to have to throw out so much stuff, but not these!  Despite being down on the floor, subject to moisture, mildew and rodent drippings, they cleaned up nicely and went straight back to work today with absolutely no issues.

Of course I have no idea where the blades for the reciprocating saw are, so I only have the all purpose one that was in it, but that worked well enough for some of the projects I have been needing to catch up on.  :D

The drill shows no signs of decay, which is especially good, since I brought my cordless Black and Decker drill but left the charger for it a thousand miles away in Ottawa....

I kinda did the same with the porter cable reciprocating saw, same with the portable band saw, but they worked just like new! Gotta love them..

Unfortunately the cases these came with all have to go due to the amount of rat excrement in the garage.  I am going to have to make a special trip to the dump, but at least I am confident that my other tools will likely have survived, like my table saw, angle grinder, belt/disc sander, lathe, planer and belt sander.

Anything in cardboard or fabric is going to have to go.  I hope I can get the smell out of everything!   :ahhh

No Rat Turd is gonna tell me what to do!

Well, it tells me to throw out the otherwise perfectly good office chair and some other furniture I had, and I am going to listen to that.....

Also, I used my B&D angle grinder the other day, and it has also survived!
