If you don't have a Victorinox multitool, you won't ever understand how well it is made until you get one. They really are in a class by themselves.
but given the volume of mail the USPS is handling over the holidays I haven't received it yet.
I had a knife shipped to me from PA to me in RI last week...went from PA to NY, then to NJ...then FLORIDA, now it's on it's 3-4 day journey back to me in RI (I hope)

firstly, ask your wife, lovie, hubby, nobby, bigboy, etc..to blindfold you, then...feel your way around these...
(spirit, x, new wave, charge, core...etc)
then you reply!

I work at a local shipping company...truly heartbreaking when some guy comes in with gifts on a Friday at 4:45 PM he needs overnighted to his kids all up and down the east coast. His credit card was smoldering when he left :)
I had to sell my trusty Swisstool RS yesterday..........

What have you done with Dunc you imposter?!
I had to sell my trusty Swisstool RS yesterday to help pay some very big car repair bills but I still have a as new std swisstool on my side as from now ;) also I sent my Spirit in for repair/ replacement today as its always had a bit too much play in the pliers and springs and I could never really gel with it knowing its not right . Will let you all know what happens about that one .

If it were me in your situation Dunc, I would have sold Def's PowerLock before I would have sold the RS!! :D
If you are looking for a heavy duty tool, the SwissTool is probably the way you want to go. If you want something smaller and lighter for edc, go with the Charge.

Id buy one if it wasnt for the horrific blade, I wish they would release one with a proper blade and scissors.I've almost finished turning mine into a warnie (pics to follow) :)
Please do, I want to see that.I sincerly doubt it :D, a chip in the blade's one thing, a severally doctored blades quite another :D
Do you thing Victorinox would fix it if it was obvious you'd tried to mod the blade and messed up?
Carl the Spirit came back very quickly and they replaced the plier head :D Its was perfect . Yes it was loose from new but Vic sorted it out .Do you prefer to EDC a larger RS over the smaller Spirit? Why so?
Funny how things work out , I sold the Spirit and got another RS ::) Couldnt live without it and its been my constant EDC ever since .
Dunc
Its so annoying because I really, really want one but I know Ill end up selling it again the minute I try to EDC that blade or something with no scissors, surely someone from there must read this site and others, even if they dont they must have some kind of market research division, I dont see how they could have thought it was a good idea to radically change the blade like that.I'm sure they have got something in the pipe line, but the problem of law's rear there ugly head's, OHO blade's simply are not legal everywhere in europe, and Victorinox are unlikely to produce a MT that they can't sell in a lot of markets :-\
Im going to email them and tell them I really want either a Swisstool or a Spirit with a OHO blade (not serrated), just to see if they reply.

The Swisstool , and its little bro the Spirit would be the be all end all if they had a one hand openable blade . Thats the main reason I use my Waves , Charges etc.The one-hand opener is great but the price to pay for that liner lock is: much wider handles, heavier, less tools overall. I also don't think the other tools will open outwards. You'll notice with the wave/charge, most tools still open inward. Actually, I take that back because the Flik has all tools opening outward plus one-hand opener main blades if I'm not mistaken. that may be the way to go for you.

Thats the way I feel about my Charges, the OH blades are great, but it's so wide and covered in hot spot's ::)The Swisstool , and its little bro the Spirit would be the be all end all if they had a one hand openable blade . the tool I always need in a hurry when Im up a ladder seems to be a plain edged blade .A fixed blade seems like the way to go in that case. no one-handed opening, just pull it out of its sheath and its ready to go.

It's interesting that the debate seems to be between Leatherman and Victorinox. Most people seem to toally overlook Gerber and Sog when it comes to "Which tool is best".
Gerber....is Gerber, many problems (plastic) and pinching and many people think they sold out (outsourcing with quality control) but they are fun.

Get a decent Gerber and I assure you it will change your opinion on them. ;)
