Title: Why is the Vic Rescue Tool disc-saw so named

Can anyone please tell me why the disc saw of the Vic RT is called a disc saw.

Glass safety saw I understand disc saw I do not

No idea but my rudimentary language skills tells me that it's only Portuguese that mentions the disc apart from English. French, German, Spanish and polish seem to be just different ways of saying "saw for safety/laminated glass".

maybe because glass cutters are manufactured with wheels?
