I have often wondered what it would be like to live in the US and have access to all those stores, pawn shops, car boot sales, US ebay sellers, quick Amazon shipping... :dd:
It's tough to build a collection in Mordor.
Add a couple of plierenches and your collection will be one step closer to completion. :D :rofl:I've been keeping my eyes out for a plierwrench, but they seem to be getting quite rare. But, one day I'll get my hands on at least one good example. :)
I smiled :D :like::cheers:
A Sideclip, a Flair and a lot of other stuff - its a very nice collection!Thank you, CeHo! I try and keep the collection diverse as possible relative to limited income. :)
Impressive collection :like: :tu:Thank you, Steve!
Nice collection. I have been on a sort of hiatus in regards to collecting multi-tools.. I see there are a few new models I may need to pick up, especially in the SOG section. :tu:
Uh... wow. That's a lot of MTs.Thank you, Lynn! :)
I counted mine recently, and realized I was headed toward a 'ridiculous' number. I have less than half the number you have. Now I feel compelled to go get more. Because I no longer feel ridiculous. :D Also, please feel free to send all those unnecessary extra tools you have this way. Happy to take that burden off your hands.
In all seriousness, working where you do is kind of a big advantage with this hobby. Very nice collection, I have moderate levels of jealousy. :D
Happy to be of service. :hatsoff::cheers:
:like: wow!!Thank you, txcache!

THAT is a big stash!!
Actually i can feel you for the MPs.. There's sooo many different variants. All look pretty much the same.. My wife can never understand that..

Indeed, the MP stuff is impossible to explain to non-MT- people.
I told myself at one time I wasn't going to collect variants, and well; you can see how well that is working out. :ahhh
:like: Very nice collection :)Thank you, Vidar!
I might use the pictures for defensive purposes if someone claims that I have too many tools... :D (Of course not - one can't have too many tools! Apparently the same logic goes for shoes. :D)
Is that tiny tool in the middle of one of those pictures a micro Buck? It seems really small - is it usable too?
MTs and knives (tools) in general are a very good thing to collect. They look good, hokd their value, and are useful (unlike some collectibles).
You're right. It is a Buck BuckTool 350 keychain tool. It is usable in the sense a Vic classic is useful. Some will find it very handy and others (like me) won't find it very useful at all. When I bought it, I had no idea how small it was. I try to stay away from keychain tools, but still keep adding them to the collection.
To be completely honest, I don't use the keychain tools. But, if I were to pick one based on build quality and function, it would be the LM Squirt series based on your needs. They have a good reputation overall. The PS4 has a decent pair of little plairs and an o.k. set of scissors. Maybe paired with a SAK, it would cover a lot of basic needs.MTs and knives (tools) in general are a very good thing to collect. I'm more of a utilitarian collector in the sense that most things I buy have a special use in mind, and do get used. And tools more in general for me, not just multi-tools. Not sure if that qualifies as collecting? It sure adds up though. I did have a breaking and drive-in theft some years ago that seriously reduced the tool holdings. (Apart from smurfing big time in itself that also still sometimes have me looking around for something I knew I should have - but which likely got stolen years ago).
I'd like a tiny keychain tool if I actually find one that works proper. Micra and Mini-champ are the closest things so far for me but no pliers. The IDL T7 has pliers, but that lacks other parts. And either way I'd likely end up giving them away at some airport, so I might as well give up on keychain tools I guess.
So given that you have such a wide range at your disposal I'm kind of curious - which ones do you end up using the most?

Hope that helps in your search for a good keychain tool. :tu:
Cool thread. I like these group photos cause they show the evolution and also give a good size comparison between models.
You have a lot of Gerbers, I am still trying to find even one model I like. I have a sneaky suspicion I would like the 800 but it doesn't seem like Gerber really promotes it that much. I have tried the 400, I own the Octane and Dime, and handled a lot of 600 models and wasn't impressed with any of them.
I am starting a list of tools I would like to try or buy. It's mostly made up of Victorinox and Leatherman though. Good threads like this show more of what's out there.
Thanks for sharing the photos of your collection!

All I have at the moment are Leatherman's plus one tiny Gerber, but I've been looking at SAK's
Hoping to build my collection....... Usually a bit left every month for essentials {Multitools) :D
Once again....... Thanks
JPB
Hi I said the same on SAKs.I 'need' more MTs and SAKs. :gimme:
Resistance is futile...
:assimilate:
How big will GLBM collection be with SAKs as well :ahhh
Great collection GLBM. Following. :popcorn:Thank you, Glockfan!
There are so many interesting MTs and SAKs to collect. This hobby and interest is really endless. Outstanding collection thus far. :hatsoff:So true! Thank you, Aloha!
Very nice GLBM :like: :tu:Thank you, W!
How many MTs have you got  :tu:Very nice GLBM :like: :tu:Thank you, W!
Between 230 & 240. :facepalm:That is a very large collection :tu:
But, it makes me feel better knowing, a few members have five-eight times as many. :o
That is a very large collection :tu:Many thanks, W!
And there is nothing wrong with collecting
Everyone has different opinions on what they would collect
As long as you are happy with collecting that many MTs
Who cares what everyone else thinks :tu: :D
In the pics of your multis with fixed end,Thank you, TP!
big drooling and browsing time I spend :hatsoff:
Nice collection colt like your setup :like: :tu:Thanks man !

I like the design and the idea 👍 - my personal favorite in the Gerber/SOG universe is the SOG paratool... but the MP 650 variations are also very nice.
I look forward too - and hopefully I see your collection growing

Those are definitely great tools. The 650 is on my grail list. Maybe one day, but I hope you can find one NIB somewhere for your collection. I got lucky with an OG ParaTool in the MT.o store. Mint, but without box/papers. ParaTools, ToughTools, and BuckTools fascinate me with their unique engineering. The 650 is also a unique design. :)A few from my collectionAbsolutely awesomr collection and display, Colt! :dd:

Thank you for sharing those photos! :)
I have the MP 650 (military version) and some plierheads - I hope that I can get the civilian version. But it’s hard to find them NIB and they are really pricey.
We hope the best
Your MT collection is off the chart.... very jealousThank you very mich, Colt!
I believe, I see you have a whole case of Crescent ToolZall..... very nice.... don’t see to many around. Under rated tool big time !!
I do something similar sometimes. If it is a collection piece, I don't take it to work if I want to carry it, so it goes with me on a day off. And, admittedly, I baby the collection pieces. :ahhh :)
That’s great :like:Thank you, CeHo!

Alright. Stripped, sanded(120, 240, then 320), and first coat of special walnut stain. It is a similar color to English Walnut stain.
Weather is crap(humid out), so the photos don't do it justice. I will coat it with satin enamel when it is cured and the weather dries up. I was able to save the manufacturer logo and letter codes the watchmaker put in the recesses. :)
What do y'all think? One more coat of stain or leave it be?
Sweet cabinet !Thank you for the input, Steve!
If it was me I would go a bit darker with the stain and use shellac to try and match the old finish better than poly.
Looks good as it is now :like:Thank you for the input, W!
Just depends on do you want it
a shade darker or keep it lighter :tu:
How many will it hold ?

How many will it hold ?My best guess is 80 or so 4" tools. I wish the drawers were 8"+ deep, but they are only 6" deep, so diagonal storage will have to do.

That's a great collection you have! And the cabinet looks so cool, you've done a great job with that, :hatsoff:Thank you for the kind words, RicHT!
Out of interest, i know its a difficult one to answer, but as you have a good variety of brands there, if you HAD to choose just one brand only to keep (and get rid of the rest), what would it be and why?
Its a difficult one im sure, but try your best hahaha!
Good question  :popcorn:That was a hard question. I'm sweating a little thinking about which one to choose. :ahhh
That can’t of been easy  :like::cheers:
That can’t of been easy  :like:Right !! I pick my load out depending on what my day is like. On a hard core down and dirty day... the Gerber center drive always gets the call. I’m all over the place

Its a difficult one im sure, but try your best hahaha!
Oh man. That is one hell of a question. :ahhh
To be completely honest, it would probably be Leatherman. That isn't anything to do with me thinking their tools are superior to the other company's tools quality-wise. Just to make that clear. :ahhh
It boils down to what I carry as my primary work tool. That is a Surge with 21pc bit set(42 drivers), 2 MUT bits(super long for recessed screws, file and different saw blades for the t-shank holder. It gives me maximum function in as small of a package you can get with that capability. So, my answer boils down to the variety of accessories and how they work.
Now, with that out if the way, my official stance and fervent opinion about manufacturer preference is:
I want them all!:multi: :D. :climber: :multi: :gimme: :woohoo:Good question  :popcorn:That was a hard question. I'm sweating a little thinking about which one to choose. :ahhh
Ahhh i feel guilty for asking the question now, haha! But great answer. I can fully understand the 'sweating thinking about it' part! :cheers:It was a good question and thank you for asking. It wasn't something I had given much thought to.
Im mainly leatherman, but i have a few saks, but i always fancied trying out a Gerber. The problem i have is that once i get one, i always fancy another, and then another, and then...........before you know it, its gotten out of control! just like what happened shortly after i bought my first leatherman! Sound familiar anyone?
How cold I have missed this thread till now? Many thanks for the kind words, microbe!
That is a fantastic collection you have GLBM!
Not surprised that you need more cabinets
I still get amazed at the size of your collection GLBM :dd: :tu:

I think the orange felt was the way to go :tu: :like: :like: Very nice looking and thanks for the pic 8) :drool:Thank you, Poncho!
So, the felt is more of an antique-gold/marigold color, but looks pretty good. And it was dirt cheap. I'll take some nicer pictures soon, but here is how the felt looks instead of the blue towel liners.
I moved most of the keychain tools to another storage to make room for future acquisitions. The Radius and Recoil still don't fit with the thinner felt. Oh well.

I have been focusing on just a few forums on here at the moment...and this photo reminds me that I haven't as yet moved to get any of the newer SOGs for my collection...now that the watch kick is mostly over for now, and am currently on a Raspberry Pi kick...it might be time once that is over to maybe start collecting MTs again...time will tell. Many thanks, Chako!
Your collection is growing nicely gerleatherberman. :hatsoff:
