All being well, and with a little help from the Swiss Gods, my Swisschamp should arrive tomorrow :sak: It will join my Spartan, Farmer, two Swisstools and Spirit :) How good is that? :mail:
-
I would say that it's not quite as good as a Swisschamp, Spartan, Farmer, two Swisstools, Spirit and a Leatherman :D
Seriously, if SAKs are your thang, you are gonna love the Swisschamp.
Of course, pictures and brief review are actually the law in these parts ;)
-
Hi Dave, have no fear I've got a few Leathermans too ;) Trouble is I love 'em all! Pics and review to come. Just need a partridge in a pear tree to complete the collection.
-
:D
Anyone with Damned lyrics in their sig is alright be me :tu:
-
Nice one fella :tu:
Are you planning on coming to the meet in April ???
-
I've recently got a Swisschamp myself. Great tool I can spend ages just fiddling with it :D

Yep there addictive wee buggers aren't they :D
-
They have serous fiddle factor. I've still not found the kitchen sink in there though, I keep looking :D

The SwissChamp rocks! Everything else is a compromise... :D
-
I gave mine to a young fella when he started Scouting , missed it ever since .

Pffft!
Cybertool 41 R0xxers much harder than the SwissChamp. Who actually uses the fish scaler? Give me a bit driver any day. (Although the lens is sorta nice, but still doesn't match the awesomeness of the bit driver).

I do for one, as I use the ruler. I have also heard of people using it like a serrated blade when cutting or carving fruit. The end can be handy for working on computers as well.
Oh, it also scales fish BTW. :D
-
I used it a few times for scaling fish (optional) and it wasn't anything special. The hook disgorger works well though..
-
Fish scaler. Pooh-pah.
Gimme a bit driver any.
day.
Although I will grant you a hook disgorger would be good, but since I flyfish with barbless hooks, it's not needed by me.
I'm still planning on converting one of the bits to a 5mm Allen driver. When I get that to work, then you'll all be sorry...(http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z231/bluebadger88/misc/angry3.gif)
:D
-
Sounds like you need an XLT, best of both worlds, increased fiddle factor and a limp if you decide to carry it :D
Neil
-
Enjoy the Swiss Champ. Even if you don't end up carrying every day they're still great to play with. :tu: if you do plan to carry it I recommend getting a belt pouch, it makes all the difference.
-
^The leather belt pouch! :)

Which pouch is best?
-
Well I have one of these and am very happy with it;
http://www.victorinox.ch/index.cfm?site=victorinox.ch&page=3&lang=E
it is the black leather 5-8 layer pouch (4.0521.3). That said I don't have any others to compare it to so have a look at the rest as well. You might want to stick a notice up in the wanted lists here. :)
-
I've got the one labelled "4.0521.3 Belt pouch" on Gareth's link - and it's a good fit and works well.
-
The SwissChamp is my next sak, I'm just waiting for a deal or something to
get me to pull the trigger, I keep drooling at felinevet's site! lol
that is one sweet tool. Congrats! and don't forget some pics! :salute:
-
Ignore them lot they are just wimps :P. I pocket carry mine without any problems.

So do I, just via a belt hanger :D
-
I actually use a Leatherman bit kit sheath. It is lower profile than the Vic sheath, so it doesn't catch on things as much. The Cybertool 41 (essentially the same size as a SwissChamp fits neatly inside.
-

It just gets lost amongst all the other junk gadgets you put in you pockets. Having seen you EDC I have to guess you are a real 'belt & braces' man. :D

:D :D
I have a pocket for everything so that's not an issue.
-
I use the ballistic nylon sheath with Victorinox logo on it. Many companies, including Gerber, Victorinox, etc. sell this sheath, with their logo on it. Very durable and padded to protect the knife or tool in it. I also use a Brigade Quartermaster's 3-way sheath in ACU pattern colors when I am in uniform to carry my Champion. Out in civilian clothes, I use the Vic sheath previously described.
-
Well it didn't come today, but I'm patient. Thanks for all the sheath suggestions :)
-
I carry my Champion Plus in a LumaHunter M3 TRANSFORMER pouch/sheath.
it's a flashlight with many interchangeable parts, but I only use the big-set-up
but the pouch isn't big enough for it! (http://i39.tinypic.com/2ahbk05.gif)
so I put my Champ+ in it and it has a side pouch for spare batteries and I put a
small flashlight there (ultrafire B3). It still has room for a bigger Sak (couple more layers)
so when I get my SwissChamp (dreams) I'll swamp-em! :D
-
Strangely WD, it's the Champion Plus I fancy getting my hands on. I think I'm right in saying the only thing it lacks compared to the Swiss Champ is the pliers.

That is correct. I'd miss the pliers though. :)
-
Nothing big and Swiss today either, I'm getting impatient now :o Ah hell, it'll come tomorrow!

That really sucks. :(
-
Gawd that's the part I hate. When you KNOW it should be here, but it's not.
Yet.
It'll get there. The Swiss are nothing if not punctual.
-
Fingers crossed for tomorrow mate , I love my Swisschamp but not as much as the Swisstool ;)
Dunc
-
Thanks guys, with your help it'll be there tomorrow :tu: Congrats on the job Dunc

Yeah, love my Swisstools too, but also the Spirit and my SAKs. I'm definitely getting a lot out of the Swiss stuff at the moment. Owning a Sharpmaker has made me appreciate it all the more.. it is just so oo o easy to sharpen my Swiss blades with it :)

It does sharpen them easily doesn't it. :)
Even quite a dull blade seems to go sharp in just a few strokes on the fine rods.

Waiting on the post is a killer isn't it >:(

I don't mind waiting, it's when something should be there on a certain day and then it isn't. That really bugs me.

Until I got my Swissschamp I never knew a magnifying glass could be so useful! :)
-
I still dont know about the magnifier . I can see where it would help with little metal splinters etc , and lord knows I need all the help I can get with these middle aged eyes .
Chris
-
I am extremely impatient when it comes to getting packages!

We know!! :D
-
If it's any consolation I've been waiting for a Cadet to arrive all this week, and still no sign. :-\ So I know exactly how you feel.
-
As do I, I'm waiting on a BPA free water bottle, a Number 4 Grohnnie and a Tomahawk
-
... and me.
500 rounds of CCI minimags. Goes with a new Sig Mosquito that I'll pick up tomorrow.
-
I've been waiting for a Charge AL to come, but I either got "screwed" or it got lost in the mail. I should have a BO XTi coming tomorrow, so it's not that bad!
-
Well it came today and I'm delighted! What a wonderful little (big) tool :D I'll take some photos and write a little review over the next couple of days when I'm not so busy. But I can tell you that it will be coming to the gig tomorrow night.
-
Congrats!
Gig? We need more details...
Are you in the band or are you support crew?
What type of music?

I play guitar in a little band doing gigs around our county. 60' 70's 80's rock, pop etc. Running repairs and minor adjustments such as cutting gaffa tape usually fall to me :)
