Inspired by the other topic called Pics of your SAKs outside, I decided that we should have one such with pics... inside :D
You can post your artistic SAK pics here... like, nice pictures with a nice piece of furniture, your electronic devices, whatever household objects or even morning coffee... Show your photographer's talent and SAK coolness without crossing the treshold of your own house! :D
Sadly, I'm not prepare to post pics now, lol

I'm just at work reading about him on Wikipedia - sounds like a loveable character.
-
Oh, he's loveable alright, as long as you don't have to work with him... he can be a real terror :D
Good willing, absent minded, clumsy, creator of numerous monstrous inventions that almost always go wrong, those are just a few of the things to know about Gaston Lagaffe.
Andre Franquin is one of my favourite comics artists :hatsoff:

Ah, the loveable loser - I like the sound of his pet seagull and cat. I'm going to look to see if there are any english translations of the books.
-
The seagull and the cat... oh, yes! Also, his cactus helping organise the archives.
Let's not forget Gaston's DIY improvements on his wreck of a car... or the Gaffophone.

I know what you mean. I like comics as an art form with a strong preferance to the humorous genre. There's some excellent stuff in French, you can tell just by looking at the books.
Actually, comics really helped me better understand French. Accent apart :ahhh , it was very different from Greek and whatever English I knew as I was growing up. Then again, comics helped me learn to read in the first place. ;)

:D Very glad to meet another fan of Franquin! He's witted and sensitive, with a humour accessible to children, but with a well-timed nerve adults can enjoy. A tender and profound humour that is reflected on the way he draws. One of my favourite, really. Nice picture there, it makes me want to dig mine out of storage

So I found my first flaw with my Wenger S17, but it's not a flaw of the knife. When taking pics, I realized that with it sitting on the back side of the knife, the writing was upside down.
So, a piece of 2000 grit wet/dry, and some plastic polish, and I won't have that problem anymore. :D

@Captain,
I didn't see your question previously :X - I'm not sure what I want next, lol. I talked to people about that in another thread here.. lol I liked the G10 scales contrary to my expectations, so something with G10 again would be goood and I also want something a bit larger from the Ambi. I'm really really not sure, though. Aloha007 suggested the Tenacious, which seems like what I described, but it's just from the same family and it looks almost the same like the Ambi, just bigger. While I'd also like to try sth different. Sooooooo I really don't know what IIIII want. lol

Looks real to me - it says Victorinox on the blade etc. Looks like an economy Camper - it has the shield hot stamped on it rather than the metal insert.
Very nice! Do you use it?

Ah, bless! You have no idea how open that question is!
It entirely depends on what you like - have a look around on the forum and see what tool sets grab you, whether you prefer Alox or Cellidor (metal or plastic) scales, and at the end of the how much cash you have to spend, if you see food or rent as a necessary part of your life (be great if you had a sugar mama to buy you stuff - speak to Monrogue about that).
Best of luck, welcome to the forum and remember that we love pics - you had a good start with your Camper pics.

The Magsters pretty much right across the board there, but an Alox Soldier and/or Farmer is good, and everyone should have an Explorer and a SwissChamp :pok:
And there's Wengers too

On the other hand, I have collected SAKs for several years, and it's a Camper, albeit with white scales, I have in my pocket now. :)

It is an alcohol stove. More pics in this link (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,60068.msg1102252.html#msg1102252). The movable strap covers the air intakes to control the flame.

Cheers :salute: What is it that makes this particular SAK your favourite at the moment? I'm interested in how diffi=erent peopple get excited for different reasons. :tu:
-
I don't know about others but I really enjoy the knives that are no longer in production. Maybe of has to do with the idea that they will get progressively more scarce. So I get really excited when I see pliers without the crimper (like on my handyman and on the Swiss champ I have coming). Or the transition scissors (grooved handle but screw joint) on my super tinker. Can key on my Fisherman's square screwdriver.
That standard is in very good condition has an awl without sewing eye, a caplifter without the notch or the half stop and a very good set of economy scales. And that just makes me happy.
It speaks to the nerd in me. In my PIC above the only knives with lanyards on them are the latest tangstamp and therefore allowed to be used. The rest are sacred treasures.

Today's Swiss National Day!
Today 724 years ago, Switzerland was founded.
Unfortunately I was not there live, but it is in history... ;)
A good day to show red Alox models with silver old cross
because these are most similar to the swiss flag.
Model, brass / nickel silver liner, tang stamp, year stamp, with / without a bail / keyring, company name... There is always a difference, are all different pieces.

I am sure because I just went through a whole case looking. I have that kinda free time since we in the assembly area doing Jack and smurf atm.

I am sure with Sequestration, cost was an issue and the glass bottles cost more than the plastic pack you pictured

That's sad, harley. :( Once upon a time I worked with a guy who was a senior NCO with the NJ National Guard. After weekend rotations he would bring me tons of those little Tabascos. I had an entire drawer in my desk full of them. :)
-
Those little bottles got me into Tabasco sauce! I still have a few even though I've graduated to the bigger bottles.

So that's the plan? Balance the budget one bottle of Tabasco at a time? Lame.

This thing makes perfectly round holes :ahhh Awesome. I bought a new belt, but it was kinda a bit too large, so thank God I'd taken my Pioneer with me (I'm not home again).

Are tools scaled up in size a little since the frame is larger?

For the most part like bottle and can opener and scissors and pliers, I'd say No.
I only have an RS here to compare and it's only the knife and saw which benefit from the larger scale. (We can add the metal file in the case of a Workchamp or Locksmith).
I'm also thinking that the long, fine philips driver under the scissors (another selling point for me) is also a benefit from having a larger frame.

Thanks, yes, that's how I wanted it. I don't like the long tools opening towards the keyring since I have something attached to it. I wish it was doable on the 91mm SAKs, but the back springs don't allow it.

Probably my favorite SAK considering how I lucked into it, and that its never been used, has the original paper work with matching dealer stamp, and all of the packing is impeccable lol.

 yeah I have a couple other sets of scales from the donor knives...thinking of doing double pin holes for one pin and one sewing needle. And maybe even seeing if theres a way to fit a pen in there...maybe a 54mm pen if the 91mm pen is too long.
I know there are 84mm scales with pin holes out there..

What is that suspension clip you're using?

Amici,
That clip is something I came up with one day for easy yet comfortable SAK EDC. The reason being, since how some folks absolutely HATE bulky items in their pockets which includes me but yet feel the need to carry a plethora of pocket tools on a daily basis.
One of the biggest complaints you hear from folks when it comes to the SAK, is the bulk and the weight, especially when it comes to anything consisting over two layers.
So one day I picked up a cool Ti clip some years ago right here from EDCS and attached a Mcgizmo # 2 clip and BANG! instant pocket clip carry.
I like to carry the big models, since I'd rather have a tool and not need it, than to need a tool and not have it. So when I EDC any SAK I use this rig.
I use it with the Champion as well as the S557. I also use it with the smaller models such as the Explorer as well as the Pioneer. And in both scenarios, they seem to disappear right into the pocket. That especially goes with jeans, shorts, or even khaki's that you would wear around the office.
Anyone can put this together, all you need it is a pocket clip, some sort of clip with a gate, and a split ring or two.
The beauty of this setup is if you run into a big job, you just unclip the rig from the split ring on the rear of the SAK. Then reattach it back onto the split ring once your done. Then it's back into the pocket..
Cheers,
Serge

It amazes me how a good suspension clip makes the bigger SAKs so much better in pocket carry :tu: Almost makes them disappear in my pocket :o :like: :like: :like:

Modeler! Nice. I like the rare 91s
Me too, I was very lucky to find this one new in box. It wasn't even listed as Modeler, and I paid only $ 35 for it including shipping :ahhh
Those are the kind of finds that really make my day :D

Chess as we now know it is close to its Persian origin. The Chinese and Japanse versions are different and take some getting used to. (Of course this has nothing to do with the Wenger S17.)

Pretty hard to tell which one is the horsie and which is the pointy hat guy with that gibberish written on them.

Haha thanks all. And definitely need to watch this one, he's sneaky. His 2 older sisters teach him things when we're not looking. :)

I'm about to send off a gift SAK to a friend and was thinking about including one of those toy ones in there too for his son. I like how you can get them with ruby scales.
Was looking at my Exporer today. At one time this was my only Vic (replacing an 80s Explorer) and one of only 2 SAKs along with my Wenger Handyman. These were new plus scales from +B.. but I'm thinking its time to buff them out.. I don't carry this one too much anymore so it might as well be shiny if it's a display piece.

I've noticed that the 74mm screw scissors has more blade and less handle than the 73mm rivet scissors. This Ambassador is a nice little tag-long for scissors and nail file, but ever since getting my first 58mm small phillips combo tool I generally carry one with that on it.

That's a bummer. Do they also forbid scissors or other office tools?
I mean, if I punch someone in the face with a BIC pen they'd be pretty upset too. :twak:
My employee forbids the carrying of weapons. So a SAK should be legal here.

At work today. I'll spend the entire day in the dark.
So I took my StayGlo Climber with me. Originaly I bought it because of the scales are kind of an oddity.
But I've grown to like the Climber. Now I carry it every now and then as a second knife.
Not to much... otherwise the logo might wear off :(

If the Micra had pliers instead of scissors it would be a perfect combination. Right now I think the Micra is Leathermans MiniChamp.
I do believe they have a very small pair of pliers, but at the cost of tools in the handle.

where did you find those calipers? they look amazing
They are a bit too easy to find these days since there's a lot of them coming out of China for around $4 (and then sold in Europe for around $10) and the quality is generally as expected. Actually German made ones (as opposed to the "German made" ones sold from China) are not as common and it's generally not very encouraging to search for them in the flood of Chinese ones. Do tell me if you find a reliable vendor.
Edit: British site survivaldepot claims to have the real deal.

I was wondering as well. Perhaps a SAK storage drawer?

Is it that bad? :-[
Well, I have really no good camera and absolutely no idea of the photography.
But under these conditions I try to make the best and I think my pics could be even worse. ;)

Solo and avocado sprout
Peeled an avocado and removed the core with my Solo a few weeks ago.
I put the core in soil but nothing happened. Then I realised that it might needs to lay on the soil. And it does, it started sprouting as soon as I pulled it out of the ground!
I'm driving my girlfriend batty with this kind a experiments. The windowsil is filled with 'experiments' like this. Also have coffee and pitayas :)

It's a tad cold out, but the sun is nice.
At least that's what my patients tell me. I don't get to see any sunlight during visual field testing.
But it's not all bad. It's warm inside and my trial lens set makes a nice decor for my Handyman ;)

I've been offline most of the time lately.
Since I'm on vacation I don't have as much free time behind a computer as I do at work
In fact, I'm working long days redecorating the house!

Handyman and a chalkboard wall
This is the first layer of paint drying on the coffee corner wall. We wanted a really matte finish on the wall and decided for chalkboard paint.
It really was a pain to paint. It get's spotty real fast. I was advised to use a foam roller. But I used a fluffy on in the end. It gave much better results.
In a few days I will go on a holiday for about a week or so. There are no computers there and since my provider ended my unlimited data plan I won't be online much.
But after that I have to get back to work, so then I will have all the time to post again
