Can those going to the meet please remember to take plenty of wood with them please, as they probably charge an extortionate amount for it at the site!
-
Good thought, I think I remember reading they charged £5 a bag but I could well be making that up.
-
No doubt we'll end up buying some log's anyway, but it'll be good to try and keep our cost's down as much as possible :)
-
I got wood.
(actually I haven't, I just wanted to act like a child)

Sorry John, my car's just not that big. :-\
-
I best go drag it back to the woods then :D
-
If you start dragging it down now you'll have it to the site by the time of the meet, then you won't need a lift either, win-win so far as I can see. :tu:

Ya'll are allowed to bring your own firewood? The campsites around her forbid that. Either you buy theirs or you go without fire.

You know what Kel - I'm almost embarrassed to phone and ask!
Can we try and sneak the wood in guys, and maybe just buy a box or two from the guy who owns the place? I don't want us getting banned before we even get going - especially as it's my address the guy's got :D
-
That works for me :)
-
I do not know if Kelly is thinking of the same thing, BUT In parts of the US it is illegel to move wood due to the emerald ash borer leading to

the slogon for emerald ash borer is "don't move firewood it bugs me"

We don't have the same probs that you currently do over there Kel. I know in NC you can't bring the wood in to a national park because of the potential for devastating diseases to be carried with it in to the area, but on this little island, there's not much like that going on right now.

Aside from the nasty fungus that is killing the English Oak trees :(

Yeah that is pretty grim :(

Here in central CA were i live it is a farming area we have lots of orchards someone is always removing one. Almond fire wood can be bought for 65.00 a cord. That's how i keep my house warm in the winter.

Keeping your house warm in the winter? Please! Your winter temperatures are our summer temperatures down there!

Are you sure you are not Norwegian? :D
-
I have read that Norwegian joke before, only when it was emailed to me, it was about Canadians! :D
Seriously, when I go south, usually for SHOT, I see a huge difference in temperature. The year I went to Florida, it was -3C and raining in Halifax when I left, was -20C in Toronto when I changed planes, and 17C when I landed in Orlando, and everyone was complaining about how cold it was there! In the hottest part of our summer here, it gets maybe to 30C for a few days, but usually low to mid 20's, often dipping down into the teens.
In the winter it gets down to anywhere between -20C and -40C. ::)

Def the coldest gets around here is 20 degrees at night. I have a crappy track house fireplace and a small fire in the morning and at night keeps my house warm. If i run my heater my power runs me 200 a month for heat so we never turn it on. But you are right our weather is mild i wear shorts till December. :D

I'm assuming you mean 20F... because if you are complaining that 20C is too cold I may have to get upset with you! :P
Def
-
Yes 20F that's cold for us. Today it is going to be 102F tomorrow it is going to be 105F so it gets hot here. When i was a kid i lived near San Francisco in the bay area it was 70 most the year that was nice.
