Hey guys. I'm looking to purchase a swisstool spirit x. I found a kit on the bay that includes either the l wrench or the ratchet/ extension. Both come with the bits. Are they useful for day to day or only certain circumstances?
It also comes with the corkscrew and eyeglass driver.
Lastly, which sheath is better? The nylon or the leather?

I have the L wrench and like it. The bit carrier is nice as well. The bits are 1/4in bits so theres nothing special about those. The L wrench is a stand alone tool IMO and compliments any MT or SAK. Use Vics supplied bit or add your most used bits and off you go. Vic gives you 6 bits tho the carrier has space for 10. You get two HEX, two Phillips, and two Star bits ( sorry I forget which ones ). The plus sheath I use is the Leather for my Swisstool and Nylon/Cordura for the Spirit. I like both so its a matter of which material you prefer. I also have the separate corkscrew and mini driver which I think are nice additions. The slot on the back of either Swisstool or Spirit holds the corkscrew.
All said I like the L wrench and carrier. The bits like I said are nothing special but the holder is pretty neat.

I like the L wrench - it’s a useful EDC tool. The bits are ok for your basic-EDC-needs but I replaced them after a while and hard use - now I have wera-bits...
I like both sheaths... If i have to decide- i would take the leather sheath

I have a ratchet.
Not Vic's but very similar.
I use it regularly as a compact screwdriver or in hard to reach spots.

I too had the L wrench and it's a lovely little tool in its own right. I paired mine up with PB Swiss Tool bits... I'm a snob... and they come in shiney nice metallic colours! :2tu:
I also had (two actually) small ratchet drivers possibly the same as Mechy's, but I completely destroyed one on a job (little toothy bits everywhere) and that kind of put me off them.

Actually, I've still got one... that one's broken too! :facepalm: The little flip switch is broken inside. Has your one got the nice nylon case/bit holder thingy?

I ordered the swisstool spirit x w/ ratchet, extensions, bits, corkscrew, eyeglasses driver and leather sheath for $135!

That's the hardest part! I didn't want the butter knife blade kit so thankfully I found the x with a kit brand new.

Dont mind the holes in the Spirit sheath, I added a belt clip but changed my mind. Over all its a nice kit. I've seen some great little ratchet sets too. Topeak is one that often gets mentioned.

These little Titan Ratchet are pretty great too and they can be stashed away almost anywhere!
They sell them at Northern Tool and they have both standard socket as well as 1/4" Bit Style versions.

My Bosch ratchet lives in a leather Plus sheath with my Spirit XC.

Grind off the ratchet and shape it like a LM bit?
That way you'll end up with a bit extender?

Well now I'll have a leatherman st 300 & charge tti. Swisstool and swisstool spirit x. I've also owned a bucktool, leatherman st200, b.o. new wave, new wave and new surge.

Lol. It's a great kit. Added a few extra bits. Very light. Plier head is super tight.
