So here I was, noodling away on my trusty 'ol Strat and tought to myself, thare are so many cool topics here of pics of SAKs with other stuff and also some guys here who play guitar too, so why not start a topic of SAKs and Guitars...? :D or any other instruments for that matter... :tu:
If anybody who plays guitar or any other stuff here like the idea, feel free to join in
So here is my trusty Tinker with my trusty 'ol Black Stat :D It get's used a lot when i change strings or do general maintenance on it.

I bet it is.
I committed the mortal sin of buying a Squier but I really like it. It's the J Mascis signature edition, plays real nice, tremolo isn't the BEST but works and is easy to replace.
Also have a 91 Mex Strat, 94 Mex Tele and have owned several other Fenders.
So is it like Vic is Fender and Wenger Gibson? I don't think it really translates..

I had a black Squire for years before I got this one, and it was pretty decent, but went out of tune a lot.

:twak: hey, careful now! I'm a certified Gibson fan boy. ;)
Actually Gibson and victorinox are the only two brands where I am probably a legitimate fan boy. I.e
, liking them in spite of, or because of their quirkiness / occasional mistakes.

Cool! I bought my Gibson in early '98. A NOS 1996 model. It was around $1200 back then. I don't have the receipt, but I do have my old layaway tag somewhere. For perspective, new J -45s go for at least $1k more now. :ahhh

I love the looks of the les Paul. Not sure my shoulder could handle the weight, but man they sound good. If I were ever to get serious about electric guitar I would likely search out a les Paul or ES-335 style semi hollow. Probably Epiphone or something, though, due to the $$$$
-
Gibsons are great, I really like the SG and Thunderbird bass...
Thing that keeps me from buying a Gibson is the ticket price, and their solid bodies... I know it might improve tone but you drop the thing once and you're screwed.
You can throw a Strat down a flight of stairs and it won't even go out of tune.
-
The creepy thing is I didn't click on any guitar websites/links or even google. The chrome browser must just see key words on your page and pull up ads that match it

I really, really don't like the weight, feel or look of Les Pauls. Love me a 335 though.

I understand the weight thing (not so much the others ;)). They do make weight relieved versions now, which are nice.
-
Actually, I think it's mostly the feel, then the weight. Or the weight makes the feel worse.
And I think I don't really dislike the looks that much, it's just that when I see one all I can think about is how heavy it is and how much I dislike the feel. :D

LOL, gotcha. Like I mentioned before, I'm a Gibson fan boy just like with victorinox, so I love all their craziness and quirkiness.
A 12lb instrument with a mahogany neck with an angled headstock with most of the wood at the bend removed for the truss rod? Sounds just fine to me! :D

I thought it was a kit guitar, but it was about 95% assembled. Took all of 10-minutes to put together. It's fretless and, as I understand, meant to be used with a slide....which is what my soul craves. It's a three-string blues machine with open tuning (G-D-G). The only thing easier would be a one-string diddly bow. And that's not out of the question here if this one proves to be beyond my limited ablities. ;)
I actually got this one as a starting point to mess with while I plan to actually build my own from scratch. 'Cuz that's the diddly bow & cigar box tradition. Lots for me to learn here. :D

With the open tuning you don't need much to make slide sound cool - it'll be the twiddly chording in between the slides that'll take the practise. good fun and Good luck

I'm starting to think we need to form an MTo band. Anybody have a drum kit? (I have a bodhrán which I play better than the guitar, but that doesn't seem to fill the band's needs.) We're also gonna need a guy on keyboards.
Now for a name...... "The Multitones"?

Two of my favorite instruments are Yamahas from the late 80's early 90's.

Im not really a superstrat guy, but the neckthrough construction in the 1212s makes her a very confortable guitar, and with 3 switches and 3 push-pulls its also very versatile. In the future I will swap the two original singles for laces as well.
The bass is an RBX5, and it has an amazing neck. It doesn't feel like a "5 stringer". And the fact that it sounds well is a plus... :D

The bass is a 2017 Gibson EB model (bought in 2016 ).
I played in a trio called "poncho" and we did mostly original rock and roll tunes. That pic was from one of a series of gigs we did at a bar in Cincinnati, OH last year. The bar closed shortly after, not sure what that means...
Anyway, our band is now on a likely permanent hiatus. The drummer is on a year long trip traveling around the world, and the singer/guitarist is planning on moving to a different state.
It was good fun while it lasted!
-
You probably shook the foundations loose with that mighty bass Gus :D
You could be in demand for another band if you wanted to continue playing. Proper bass players are rare - usually it's guitarists filling in on bass because there are too many guitarists :D

Thanks! I really enjoy playing bass, and prefer to play bass when in a band setting. Much more comfortable for me in that context for whatever reason.
With twins on the way, I'm going to hold off looking for another band for awhile. Maybe in a few months.
As for shaking a room, my current rig is a carvin bx500 head with a carvin 4x10 cabinet. It definitely does its part to accelerate the audience's hearing loss! ;)

The problem with that is the guitarists then play bass how they think it should be played - root notes all the way.

Saw these sweet oilcan geetars in Glastonbury over the weekend - made me think of Nix. No SAK's involved as it was a busy street

I freaking love it. I waited about a year to buy it and just kept going in and playing it til I finally bit the bullet. It’s very bright and clean. Not sure how it compares tone wise to the older ones though, I’ve never had the opportunity to play one. I just wish it had a pickup because I’ve really been jamming on this one and I would love to add it to what I use when we play.

Why...? What's wrong with yours....?
I didn't wire it up properly, but I have since got someone to fix that.
It was someone's Partscaster project that I took over with a Squier body, Haywire neck and not sure where the rest came from.
I just have to set up the floating bridge and find an amp....

I’ll have a bit of this...;0)
Here is my vintage Swiss Champ and ironically my not vintage Vintage acoustic!

Is your bridge floating?

Is your bridge floating?
Yup. But only slightly.
It's about 1,5mm off the body measured at the end of the bridge plate. Gives me great tuning stability with plenty of room for vibrato and about 1/2 step of up pull. Of course everything is properly lubed with a graphite mix to avoid friction in the system, and the nut slots are well cut with enough clearance. Works very well for my type of playing
Here's a quick snap of it

:tu: I need to finish setting mine up.

Let’s bring this back from the dead.
My berry pioneer with my latest acquisition, a KoAloha soprano.

Maybe a more appropriate pairing is with my sentinel with my homemade wood scales.

:like: another cool necro back from the dead, like it 8)
I’ll play, here’s my Swiss Champ with one of my synths, a Roland MC505 from the mid to late 90’s
