Title: Seeking SAK special edition or regional offering info
Post by: SummitCOMike on September 15, 2017, 05:18:04 AM
Knights,  I would like to tap into your Victorinox knowledge a bit.  I see some products on the secondary market that have been produced by Vic that are regional offerings.  For example the South African Alox knifes that have zebra and giraffe etchings on the blades or even the first  Nespresso recycled pioneer (Arpeggio) which from what I understand was only released in Switzerland. what I cant find is any official info from the company about these knives.  I understand that a special order from a dealer may not be publicly available info but why if a knife is available for a particular geographic area is there not some reference to it on the interwebs,  The SA knives for example are available today at SA dealers but I cant find a "why" the are produced, "who" the proceeds are going to, what what the genesis of the project etc.  Any help in tracking down some info would be great and of course I called Vic USA and they have no idea that these knives are being produced.

I visited Kiev twice, but I missed on these beautiful knives!! Unfortunately I had not much spare time to look around for souvenirs etc.
The only knife I saw, was the on in the picture, but I doubt it's a Vic... :salute:

BTW: If you care for real good, affordable food, clean restaurants and friendly service, you must go to Kiev. And there are lots of interesting places to visit. One of the best cities I've ever visited.

There are also special Vic's for Amsterdam and Holland.

Apparently I wasn't clear.  I understand that there are regional variations.  the question is; where does one find why these are done and what are the specifics about the release.  Someone is designing these knives, manufacturing, marketing, shipping and selling them with some purpose.  Where is that info?

This link gives some inside knowledge about customized knives.

On Victorinox website is a document available, called "General Terms and Conditions for Trade (TNC)".

Probably the Victorinox Company knows what is going on. But I doubt if they keep track records of every batch they make.

The SAKs sold in Middle Eastern nations have a logo that's a globe over V, primarily because they don't like anything that looks even close to the Christian cross in those nations.
