Hi guys, I think clamshell packages are the most common and challenging things I can expect to cut without speSmurfpillsed tools, so I would like to carry a tool that can open them. I'm wondering what's the smallest keychain/one-piece tool that can open clamshell packages? I prefer a prybar - will any of the Atwood tools or the Munroe Mega Dangler open them? I'm carrying a Leatherman Style PS now and its small scissors looks like it juust might be able to open one, with some effort. Can the Style CS or Micra open one easily? How about the P38?
I know the Leatherman Wingman and Gerber Dime have package openers - can they cut clamshell packaging? Seems you'd need a very sharp knife if you're not using a scissor action. I mean, I'd have trouble even with a utility knife and I don't think these are as sharp.

Minichamp's scrapper blade opens them like charm.

Cotton picker blade on the Vic minichamp and the pharma-rambler (http://www.sakwiki.com/show_image.php?id=2476). I'll find a video on it. The Executive has that on the orange peeler.

The P-38 actually works well as a clamshell opener. Can't get much smaller or simpler than one of them. :tu:

The LM Raptor works great!

I could be wrong but I don't remember any one piece tool having a package opener.
there a lot with box opener notches.
I'm not counting one piece tools that are knives themselves.

Uhm... does a fixed blade count? I've got one that is a 4.5" warncliffe, and it opens clamshells like a can opener chewing its way out.

Wow thanks, I didn't know the MiniChamp's opener works so well. Might have to get one now.

Ugh the MiniChamp costs even more than the Leatherman Wingman?

I guess so, but it needs to be pretty big to work, and I'd probably cut myself.
