Ok, so after strolling around the MT corner and stumbling across pics of watches from other members, I've got reminded to an old addiction that I think is not one anymore :think:
After selling my Mission Impossible G-Shock some month ago to gather funds for a Victorinox CT41 this is what's left... from left to right and front...
G-8000 , G-9100 Gulfman , GW-M5600 , G-2300 , GW-6900 , Citizen Eco-Drive , GW-2000 , Sinn 157 M TY - Lemania 5100

I've got into trouble with my wife when I bought the Sinn 157 M TY :whistle:
I did not buy any watch after that for the following 12 years (yes I love her), till I've got the G-Shock bug :facepalm: But that's over now too :think:

I've got the Sinn new at my Air force time back in 1995.
This was the German Airforce pilots issue. They used this model from Sinn and alternatively one from Tutima (same movement, different buttons). Tested to be accurate at 8g :D
I had a friend travelling to Frankfurt am Main to buy one from the factory, as these were not available at any Jewellery or Watchmaker shop back in 1995.
My following watch additions were more economical but as much fun...

I'm constantly drooling over the Vic watches at the jewelers closeby
Will probably buy one for myself when I turn 30. Which leaves me time to save up.

This is one of the early generations.
I received it when I turned 18 but it was bought a year before that.
Which means it was bought 10 years ago.
The touch function activates after pressing the button at 3.
Works like a charm!
As far as I know they are still available.
My uncle (who got me into watches back then) bought one last year at a watch fair for only €300...
Complete with box and papers and the optional Ti bracelet!
Sadly it was malfunctioning.
He brought it in at a local dealer who has send it back to Tissot.
He received a call sometime later to ask where he got it.
It wasn't reported stolen but they were suspicious of he story that the dealer told them.
He explained the full story.
After a few days he received the news that they were going to repair the watch free of charge since it was still under waranty, but they were still puzzled by the story.
So he now owns a larger T-touch (later models were bigger) for bargain price!

Looks like a nice watch Nick, probably one you're keeping. :D
I like titanium for the light weight and hypoallergenic properties, my skin reacts to some alloys. Some of those stainless watches can get heavy too, and I don't want to have to buy a Tread for a counterbalance! :ahhh
I appreciate you knowledgable guys, I am a complete newb when it comes to watches, but I'm learning! :)

I stopped with watches for 3 reasons:
- availability (second hand beauties for bargain price? Only happened once...)
- serviceability (can't work on them myself)
- overal costs (maintenance and purchase)
SAKs became the alternative.
They are relatively cheap, serviceable, findable and were interesting me since my childhood.

It does look like it could get quite expensive!
For me a watch is a tool too, and I have a lot of good tools, but never got into collecting except for SAKs and MTs (which can also get expensive, but not nearly as bad), but as far as changing the battery in my INOX, I think I could manage it with the right tools (yay more tools! :ahhh)...

Accumulating watches, mechanical in particular, can get expensive. I've basically stopped. The Vic is the first one in a long time.

The only reason I looked at this thread at all really is that the Sinn is the pic for it on my phone!
I also got in a little too far a few years ago and am glad that I was able to catch myself before it was too late.
I realized after using the Apple Watch for a little bit that it is really the only option for me when working and I am always working!
I actually rarely miss calls,emails and Texts since using the Apple and this is more important for me than anything else overall.
I also feel like I am being electrocuted every time the phone vibrates and you just can not put a price on that? :think:

Unfortunately, the Lemania 5100 inside it was discontinued by Swatch Group in spite of protestations from a number of companies and governments. One of the most robust chrono movements ever made, it could withstand considerable shock vibration and extreme g-forces. Those that want one must find a used Sinn like this one, or a Tutima or Fortis that has one under the dial. All three were using the Lemania movement for aviation and space tool watches.

Thanks John for the insight.
When the machines producing the parts for the movement got worn enough to lose the required accuracy, they decided that the costs to renew them would not be compensated by the sales numbers :think:
And although it's a brilliant movement you'll not find a Lemania 5100 behind a glass back. It's got a nylon/plastic type inner mount around it.
It all makes sense function wise, but some say it's an ugly movement.

They also provided the watches for German Astronauts. Same Lemania 5100, but modified the case adding an inner bezel adjustable from the outside. I was thinking of getting that one instead, but I have small wrists and it was just too big and heavy (see technical data sheet at the end for model 142).

From the side photo that 142 does look thick, probably even heavier than yours! :ahhh
I don't read German, but looks like 20g more at least.
I don't think that's too terribly heavy, but compared to a G shock it's probably noticeable.

Worn and Wound had this article about the Lemania 5100 and its Delrin parts (the plastic they used) several years ago. It was, indeed, the ugly red-head stepchild and didn't lend itself to being decorated and displayed through a window on the case back that everyone could "ooh & aah" over.
