I might be able to join, though my photo taking opportunities are limited now. One Q: pick a SAK and stick with it for the month or can we switch between mods?
1 - peeps like one big thread over lots of individual onesI agree with all of these. :tu:
2 - please day number your pics
3 - I vote for one mod, switching is less challenge more every day rotation

I may join with my modded jalox...I would like to know this too. :D
Will this be like the minimal challenge where participants only get to carry a single multi tool? I do have a minichamp and style ps on my keychain...
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will allow plier based tool but if your SAK has the tool that you need to use then you must use it and try to use the mod exclusively if you can but some tasks require larger pliers :tu:Ok, then I try it a bit later
Also going by previous answers to 30 day challenge questions. I think you can be in only 1 challenge at a time of this type :salute: but if you want to join in at the end of the minimal challenge then just keep up with yours days and join in then :salute:
I can't decide what to use for the month. Do I go for a 91mm mod that will contain pretty much everything that I might need (pliers, phillips, openers, T+T, small blade, scissors, etc.) but is a bit bulky or should I use a slimmer but much more minimal alox knife that I know will cover my day to day work stuff but will need extra tools at the weekends?Decisions Decisions Decisions. :ahhh :ahhh :D

I would have love to have been able to done away with the opener layer but I really like the flat driver on the bottle opener :D If I could have had another tool in place of the can opener it would be there now ::) I may do a mod with the inline phillips and double openers in my next mod  I have another Champion in worse shape than my last one and will try and incorporate most of the elements from my Master Ranger and go for a slimmer SAK and even may go bladeless to compliment my Skeletool  :tu:

Well I don't know about the double opener in my next mod  I was looking at that Champion and forgot that the older style inline Phillips drivers are longer than the newer ones and I think it is too long to make that layer work :-\ Guess back to the drawing board on that one ::) it may still come about some day but will have to be with a newer style Champion :salute:
The thing about 93mm models is the center pin is equidistant to the end pins... This means its dead center... making flipping springs easy... and plus they don't have back tools. Thus if someone wants to mod a pio x and have the scissors open from the same end as the blade, its just easy as flipping springs...Well I don't know about the double opener in my next mod  I was looking at that Champion and forgot that the older style inline Phillips drivers are longer than the newer ones and I think it is too long to make that layer work :-\ Guess back to the drawing board on that one ::) it may still come about some day but will have to be with a newer style Champion :salute:
Double openers opposite the phillips apparently doesn't work on 91mm knives - something to do with the shape of the springs, IIRC - only possible on 93mm alox according to Syph.
I am seeing all of this now  :D Well I am still going to try and do something with the semi broken Champion but don't know what  The mag glass is messed up so I thought the double openers would be my best solution  Will have to give it some more though now though  :tu:2in1 layer is definitely very challenging. I just don't have an extra inline phillips lying around to try it out.

Day 8:
I was disappointed with the backside philips. It needs space to work in, and it was likely my sub-par preening, but I thought that I felt it starting to twist.
The screw was in less than good condition to start with, so no can opener.
I just used a dedicated screwdriver. :D
(http://i.imgur.com/MCi6XoZ.jpg) (http://imgur.com/MCi6XoZ)
The screw I'm talking about is the left-most of the three
The bottle opener did brilliant on the big centre screw though. :tu:
I'll be glad to replace the backside philips with a corkscrew and add on an inline philips/mag layer after the challenge! :climber:
