Title: Firestone belt axe
Post by: Grant Lamontagne on February 20, 2017, 03:36:11 AM
I was looking at one of these yet again today and drooling over it.

Man these things are gorgeous and I'd love to have one someday.  Prices are a bit steep, but what a thingreat of beauty!

The Birler is a nice axe indeed, but the Firestone is the Gold Standard, you know?

I didn't know anything about them Grant until your post this morning,
that was the first review I found, they do look very nice but it seems to me the pin is a design flaw but I like the 'idea' of ply handles
It's like they tried to update a small axe without thinking it through or enough testing

They kinda remind me of something

Never heard of them before.
It looks gorgeous though.
To bad about the bolt design flaw. What where they thinking when they designed that?

Laminiated wood then poking a hole thru the narrowest part

^^^  :D

Someone clever could come along with a way of laminating the wood together inside the eye with an integral wedge,
no need to drill anything

Sounds like a much better solution. :tu:
