I se so many pliers when I go to the fleamarket but I get so focused on MT's and other goodies that I ignore them. I have been keeping up with Yadda and others pliery finds and figured I'd have a go at some too. There are some really neat ones with very interesting designs. I found 5 that spoke to me so I snatched them up.
The thing that really turns me on about old tools is the history these tools could tell. I let my mind wander about thinking about possible interesting tales these tools have.
#1 Chanel Lock #417
#2 Harrold USA
#3 Cee Tee Co
#4 T Williams Made in England

Looks like you found some 8) old pliers. I have lots of old pliers. I got a real weakness for them. Kraeuter made a lot of pliers. A body could spend a lot of time and money just collecting them. Hope you find some more golden oldies! :tu: :)

Thank you I sure will be keeping out a keen eye from now on. I also got 2 very neat scissors and a cool old 3 prong spring plier from CS Osborne. The history is what is neat for me and I honestly could have dug up some more but I was getting tired. I got each for about a $1 as I'm sure the sellers thought they were old and rusty.

I really like the history behind the old tool manufacturs and companies. Here a link to Alloy Artifacts (http://home.comcast.net/~alloy-artifacts/). Lots of history and tools there.

Great finds! :salute: I like you enjoy the history behind many of these old tools. The variations, patents, and manufacturers all lend themselves to inquiring minds. You've set yourself on the precipice of a long slippery slope. Enjoy the slide and share lots of pictures. :D

Thanks Yadda, you and other have posted so many great pictures that I have been inspired. I particularly like the way some have been joined, like the T Williams and Harrold. The handles are beautiful as well and of course the patina on these is .
I do really enjoy the history and searching thru countless pages of information. I got a small Meteor 1/4 ratchet and it seems that company was here then gone sometime in the 50's.
Thanks David for the link :salute:. I'm glad the sellers wanted to get rid of these tools more than they wanted to rob me.

Meteor hmm....... Will need to check it out. You are right about the design work on the handles. Really beautiful designs. Well created and implemented in a way to last a lifetime or more.
FYI - I picked up a Lock Line pliers from Ross Manufacturing. It has been on my list for a while now. Will post later today.

Meteor 1/4 in ratchet.

Nice pickup! Keep your eyes out. They also made a brass ratchet. I like the ball at the end of the handle.

Love brass :dd: so I will definitely be keeping glasses cleaned and eyes wide open. Yeah that ball at the end is a neat feature that has some function to it.

This shows it was part of a set so it would be neat to find its mates.

The Metor ratchet looks similar like the Yankee 3400 racheting screwdriver. The brass Metor must be a real looker. :)

Oh wow those are very neat. I have fetish for little ratcheting tools and I'm not afraid to admit it 8)

This link provides a three photo view of the brass Meteor ratchet.

+1
Dad had a small set from Craftsman from the late 50's. I always liked that set. It was destroyed in the fire that claimed his woodshop 10 year ago. <sigh>
