We will have pics of both the PST and PST II in here and might even include the Flair since it is in the same family and has Leatherman Tool on its handle as well :think: :cheers:
So from now on, on Tuesdays if possible we need to carry a PST or the like if we can :D

Crunchie, wheres the fun in just the PST? Its a nice tool but from someone who also has the TREAD, its also fun. While many many of my tools sit I'm pretty stoked to have them. I take them out from time to time, like today, and have a play.

The ST300 was my first tool I actually used, then was pointed toward the REBAR for smaller yet capable tool. Then the tools just kept a coming home with me.
The PST was found during a recent challenge at good price do to the laser etching I concluded.
After using and carrying, I understand the WHY for my ailment… and will dedicate myself to find a cure :ahhh

Just handling one, if you familiar with how handy a MT can be, the PST does provide insight how the LM name introduced the majority to the functionality.

At home, giving it a once over, many differences are evident. No date stamp inside the handles, the plier head has sharer edges and only Leatherman imprinted on the pivot, both sides. The handles are riveted, and LEATHERMAN stamped on one side of one handle. And the blade has Japan stamped on the pivot below Leatherman.

Tools awl appear to be 100%, some grime, or maybe rust in the joints near pivots, and on the file.
So look forward to detailing.
Via research it would seem that this is the PST model made by LM in Japan.

I read about LM making some PSTs in Japan, and never saw one until today. I was attracted by the sheath first, then everything pointed to a PST, yet several little things really surfaced.
Without the stamp, is there a date range these were built? How many were built?
I know I was lucky bring one home, and will clean it up and oil it up before using.
It was gummy/sticky. So presently sitting and soaking in Dawn blue/water for a couple days.
Will see what color the water turns…

I was not an early adopter of MTs. In fact my company purchased SOG ParaTools to outfit 250 plus of our front line staff providing services to ATMs for $ delivery snd after hour support services called first line repair.
The PST has that SOG beat in so many ways. 😉

JUST WANNA GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO Steve!
He put me on the trail of a sheath, for my naked PST the same day the quote comment was shared. I was successful communicating with the owner of this sheath, and it arrived in Saturday’s post.
The leather was dry, corrected with a message of mineral oil, which it soaked up better than a sponge.

I carried this in that poor sheath so long that the velcro is obliterated (I prefer velcro over snaps if you can believe that) and it's basically coming apart. Had to shorten the pliers by about 1/16" after one chipped the end. Absolutely love this multitool. It's fixed so many things I'll never remember them all, but turbo air tube clamps, mirrors, and CB's on 775G Caterpillar rock trucks are definitely some of the notable repairs. I only stopped edc'ing it this spring when I started carrying a Surge and Crunch for my new job. I'll definitely carry it on Tuesdays in addition to those now that I'm a member here. Did that today but unfortunately most of the day was spent in meetings.
If I could only get a saw in there and keep a small file... (Rebar saw works but can't find a file to go with it.)

My story is similar, I didn't have the PST a real long time but my Grandpa did and I use to get it out all the time when I was at his house as a kid :cheers: I got it after he died and used it a while but not wanting to break it, I decided to buy another tool :tu: I was looking around at what to get and also find more info out about my PST. That brought me here and I have pretty much been here ever since :ahhh
I have more than a couple MTs now because of this place as well :whistle: :D

A ST300 was found half price, put to use on construction gig. Then did a 30 day challenge.
Found out about Rebars, then tried more models, and added more functions and styles.
Then a ST200 and a Pulse, a Locks up challenge. A Bond simple style. Then the PST, then a Japanese PST. Found heaven.
So I just backed into PST - Tuesday

Unfortunately I had 3 meetings so there wasn't much work involved but I did put the PST in service to open this bag of cleaning wipes for the fitness center for the staff, who can't be expected to be able to manage opening a bag. :facepalm: :rofl:

Serious, that seems to be REAL issues at Y’s from my experience.
I used my Rebar for similar purposes awl the time at my Y when doing maintenance gig. Was paged overhead awl the time. Needed in Wellness, or Teaching kitchen, Wellness,
I was asked at a team building event to describe my duties, “At home I have one wife to fix thing for, at the Y I now have like 50 wife’s who break things or are helpless doing simple tasks…”
Nobody laughed🙄
But, in awl seriousness, it was the best gig I ever worked, true family atmosphere and received and still due great support after wife past and my treatments. If get down, just visit the Y and smiles and hugs are real. 😎❤️🌹

Rebuilt a few several times during my tenure. Learned after I retired from Y in Jan ‘22, that now they just buy a new one.
I do both depending on the situation. I've rebuilt them but always have a new one on the shelf in case I either don't have enough time, or if the chemicals are so badly out of whack that we need to be back in business immediately. :ahhh
My PST has been well used but also well taken care of. I was taught to clean my tools after use - using the knife to cut my food on a regular basis also reinforces that!

I found a JPST last summer with a sheath! In very similar condition, likely never used.
Fortunately I like the PST very much too, and it sees use around the house. A Bond does travel with me, but most impressed with the PST design.

Very nice PST Tuesday pics awl. Took apart a very old cheap apple crate from one of the big box craft store so my so could build tracks with the boards. Each one has 6 rusted staples, so pulled those out.Great use.
My Marlboro PST is so scratched and scuffed now you can hardly make out the M logo.

Look what I found in my suitcase yesterday while looking for another item.

I oilled the pivots to allow to marinate while I was on vacation, it had just arrived used, and sticky.

Reflecting a bit, I realized that a great deal of thought had been spent in designing the single Phillips head driver of the PST.
The four shown are awl intact, fit every same screw head I have tried and not one have failed me or even showed signs of wear.

Can not say the same for my dedicated Phillip head drivers, even the hard steel designs have failed. Maybe the the most replaced tool in my tool kit the past 50 years in the service industry, small to large🙄. Of course I did occasionally use a smaller size on a larger head, and may have caused more than one fault with my large hands😜

And, what was to be a OG Super Tool listing on eBay, was incorrectly detailed, turned out to be a PST.
A like new condition PST with sheath. Likely set in a drawer for 30 years. (0993) stamped handles.

PST TUESDAY a high point of the week!
Anymore the PST serves as my finger extension just because it carries so discreetly in my pocket.
Like, I have had issues, where a gas pump CC reader holds my CC so tight on insertion that I can not easily extract it. The pliers does this without complaint. Or, picking up a small screw or pill from a flat surface.
Plus there other implements that are just dang handy. Like today, the awl made a hole in my belt as I needed a new notch for an old over long belt.
