Can you track down what sites use pics from Multiutool.org? Or were you just perusing Asian auction sites for multis? :pok:
Someone on ebay copied/pasted word for word the description I wrote from a previous auction for the same item and used it in his :twak:

Actually it's funny, I was looking through Multitool.org's control panel to see if a recent thread on EDCForums about multis had linked to us yet. Someone else had sent me the link to that forum, and I went through three pages of it and no mention of us... >:(
Anyways, rather than go back to EDCForums (I lost the link and I wasn't going to poke around randomly) I decided to look and see what pages folks were at before they came to us (whoever has been visiting "certain" sites before coming here may want to use a buffer site between us! :P) which is something that the Control Panel allows me to do. I found a few interesting links, and thought I'd share. I just wish I could read whatever language that is. I was going through all the links on it to see if it linked to us, but it's just people "stealing" my pictures, as I explained in the Q&A forum. Luckily I don't mind folks doing that, but I'm seriously starting to think about more watermarks on pictures!

Most of the images are of your PPP but the last one's mine. I guess they liked yours better than mine.
Luckily I don't mind folks doing that, but I'm seriously starting to think about more watermarks on pictures!

While shopping on Ebay, I've come across my photos a few time--even the photos that are watermarked! ...I emailed one seller and asked if the photo was of the actual item ...and if so... can I have my multi-tool back. ;D

I don't mind them using them- I've been known to use a few "borrowed" photos myself from time to time. I just think it might be a handier way to advertise this site if the pictures are all over the place anyway.

Hotlinks are not permitted on EDCF. We remove them as soon as we see them.
The Asian web site hot linked to multitool.org's Gerber Clutch photos.
Def, as multitool.org's administrator, you could probably rename those files which would make them disappear from the Asian site until they find the new names.

Naw, I kind of like it. As soon as I get around to watermarking them, I'll be even happier to have them getting around!
I understand why some sites are against hot links, but I prefer to let them go. Frankly I figure it means someone had enough interest in my site to visit it, and if they steal pictures, well they steal pictures. It's the nature of the web, and it'll happen whether you like it or not. The fractional amount of bandwidth that these sites are "stealing" from me, is so little, that it's not worth getting upset about. That's my philosophy, but other sites think differently, and that's great. That's why they have their sites, and I have mine.

Hmmm.... >:D......seems to me you could have a little fun with this! Am I wrong? Could you just take down the Clutch and PPP pictures, then replace them each with a picture of some beat-up hunk of crap tool with the same address?

I could, but I'd rather replace them with watermarked pics and get the free advertising.
It would also be kind of funny to put up more... risque photos, which would be funny to see in an auction! :D

Its not that hard to watermark stuff, here's a 1minute job i did on one of the photo's. but going through all the photo's on the site might take a little while!!
