Something happened today.
Normally I would be happy.
But I am very sad.
I will be doing something about it.
Second pic coming up soon.
For now you must guess.
Can anyone see what I'm on about?

Close but no.

you sat the Charge on the kidney stone you passed?

There's a shadow of an alien probe?
You were measuring a certain body part, and someone walked by and you dropped your Charge?
There's an alien face in the rock just below the Charge?
You're trapped under a rock in the stream and need help getting out?

-
Did the fish die before you can move him? Maybe I am thick skull, but I ain't getting it... :pok:
-
I hadn't been there a few months so it was sad to find the creek had run dry.
In the few kms I walked this was the only fish I found still alive.
The water hole was approx 15' x 5' x 2' at the most and drying up fast.
I went back today with the kids.
I was able to pick it up and transfer it into a 50L fish bin.
Measuring over 25"/63cms it only just fitted in.
As quickly as possible I carried the heavy bin to the car.
We carefully drove 20kms to a large stream fed pond located on private property.
Needing no encouragement it went off and out of sight.
I was putting the bin and towel back in the car when I heard the kids laughing.
It was feeding off the surface right in front of them.
So very cool to watch.
-
Great story, and a great thing you did for that fish :salute:. Any ideas on why that stream ran dry so suddenly? What kind of trout is that?
-
Good on ya mate :)

In the foothills it runs year round. Approx 5kms after the hills it goes beneath the bed into an aquifer. As it crosses the plains the next 35kms can be dry for most of the year. Then about 15kms before running into a lake it starts flowing again. I was hoping with all the rain we had that it would stay flowing longer and let more fish make the run up to the headwaters.
I would say it was a female brown trout.
If it survives and is around in a few weeks I'll throw in a fly and take a closer look.

This beast was approx two and a half feet long, the kids called him T-Rex.

Yap, I think I saw him earlier today:

-
For three long months nobody saw it.
I thought it must have died or moved on.
The creek stopped running and the pond began to dry up, no thanks to the farmers using the water for their stock.
Then last night I got a phone call from the pond owner, the fish had been sighted.
So today I went down and moved the fish to a nearby stream that runs into a larger river.
I had already let it go before the kids turned up with a camera.
They were pretty upset about missing the fun so I jumped back in and lifted it up for a quick pic.
It is in much better condition than last time and much stronger too.
If it had struggled I wouldn't have been able to hold on without hurting it.
We said our goodbyes as it swam off down the stream.

I love fishing, but only if it's fair game.
It has access to a large river now so it better put some miles between us.
