Title: Multitools gone walkabout
Post by: Outback in Idaho on November 12, 2018, 01:09:18 PM
Had been carrying a Flair for many months now, and used it quite a few times. Only wished it had a full length file.

Was getting dressed for work last night, and noticed the older leather sheath on the belt was unsnapped ... and ... no Flair!!! :ahhh
Did some quick searches, nothing turned up. Done gone through my bedding, looked in the front room, even searched the car and the sides of the seat around the center console. Still no flair!!! :ahhh

Carried a Signal this evening as it lays low enough to not look like a multitool in public, and have a small pen on one of the elastic keepers. Still, it had no full length file either, the one thing missing. Not a fan of that cheap diamond-dust coated doohickey as it does not give me enough file to repair shelves at work. Flair does not have a file either, but it does have lot more uses.

So a lil bummed, and hoping the Flair turns up somewhere.  ???

Did you check behind the cushions of the couch?

Bummer about the Flair. It'll show up.  :tu:

That sucks. That's why I'm really afraid to heavily use and carry anything collectible--I lost a Seki-made Micro Toolclip back about a year ago.

I've lost two Bokers recently. First was a 9229 electrician's knife, which I think was in a coat last.  Then an 8588 penknife, which I think is somewhere around the house.

Bummer, once lost a leatherman but it popped up in a neighbors car two weeks later, thus another reason I never wear my custom sak, even when I do not only is it in a leather sheath, but I also put a hole in it so the knife can attach Incase it was to fall out, sorry no pic

Well that's one of the reason I dun use leather sheath because of the snap buckle. It can get caught and unbuckle without knowing. Velcro may not last forever but when they are working, I feel safer with them. Sorry to hear your loss. Hope it turn up soon!

I lost my wingman for ages, felt lost without it, so I bought another.

Then one day THERE it was, in the TV unit where I had been tightening up a couple of screws.

Look around where you may have used it.

Look down between the seats on your car.

Its silly where these things hide

I guess they are just looking for something to do.

Not found it yet. Have been searching in and around any place I could of used it. Checking in, under, around. Nothing! Checked the car twice, but going to check under the back seats once I get them cleared out. Have toolboxes, spare tire, fire extinguisher, and other stuff back under there.

Thought perhaps was around the pie I bought when I was cutting the plastic off. Then I remembered I used the Skeletool since it's hanging from the rack (have magnets stuffed inside its end).

Was going to swap it out one evening to carry a PST (Sabre bladed one) but the snap came open and the PST did not fit the leather sheath. Since been carrying the Flair, the bottle/can opener ends flaired out the leather, so was a snug fit for it. Is why am trying to figure out where it could of slipped out at. Had gained some weight since it has been colder, and had a flu and another bug after that. Figured the sheath could of unsnapped from the compact car's center console, and maybe out fell out when took my pants off.
Don't think I lost it at work as the floors are cement, some with linoleum. Would of heard it hit the floor, and I always look back to where I sat to be sure nothing got left behind. So am quite sure it is around the house or in the car. Been busy with the flu/virii & two jobs.

Here’s a pic of what I was talking about on how I ain’t losing it, the only problem is if you only have one hand available it’s going to take awhile, but it is possable!

Maybe a good reason to buy a metal detector?
Could even turn out to be a new addiction  :pok:

It’a easy, all you have to do is lose something else, go looking for that and you will find the Flair right away.  Of course the latest thing lost will remain lost for awhile........🤪.  Good luck...

Guess what?? Had some LDS friends over to help me get some old junk out of the house. Said to be careful as I had lost a Wenger Alox pocket knife one night and to be careful when throwing stuff away. The Alox is still MIA, but... the Flair was found!!  :woohoo: Bugger fell underneath the food preparation table. All these years!!!

Now to give it a much needed bath, the add some Nano-Oil to it.  :D  Smurfit is back, baby!  :climber:
