Great thread :tu:But, back to shoes now.
I wear a few different brands of boots for work, usually wear one pair out before using the next :salute:
Right now I am wearing Ariats, not insulated so we will see how i fair this winter with that :ahhh I have done this before with just wool socks but the coldest it normally gets here is in the low teens F. On occasion it dips down to 0° F but hope we take that day for days off  :D
ok Celsius makes me feel like it is cold here :ahhh
:D
I have a bit of a boot problem  my wife sees a good deal and then I tell her go ahead and order them ::) now I forget how many pairs I have :ahhh I try not to buy to many ahead but at least I do eventually wear them and wear them out :D
These are great.. not the best looking with camo, but great shoe..
JR
Well Steves not far behind you in boot cleanliness. :salute:
So far it looks like I am dead last in clean footwear ::)

You see I didn't post pics of mine
To offset the dirty ones, here is a very clean boot.

Nice!
I'm looking for these Floris boots but can't seem to find them. Same thing happened last year.

These? What's your size?
I guess these Danner pull-ons would be my equivalent to those Chukkas. My go-to, 'do all' boots. They started out as Danner's, but they've had a few sets of replacement insoles and they are sporting their third set of soles (Vibram treads installed by a local boot maker). A bit scuffed and scarred, but still serviceable for daily use. I think they still have plenty of life left!Still got the cleanest boots around. :salute:

These are my "do all" chukka boots. Grippy sole, gore-tex lined and smart enough once I've given them a clean. ;) I've got plenty of other footwear, but they tend to be more activity specific.

Very cool. Danner used to be the hiking boot of choice 20 years ago, before everyone switched to what I call "hiking sneakers". I'd love to find a good pair of Danner leather hiking boots.
Nix, let's see the bottom soles of those things!

Oh, and my re-treads:Huh? Now there brown suddenly?
(In some cultures it is offensive to flash or point one's shoe soles at another person, so I've stuck my potential offending soles in Spoiler.)Show content

Close up with boot maker's brass screws:

These new soles gave the boots a very different feel. I think the brass screws conduct heat fairly quickly, and my feet seem to get cold in these boots more easily if standing around outside on a cold day now.
Got to visit the Danner Factory store in Portland, Oregon.Very cool. Danner used to be the hiking boot of choice 20 years ago, before everyone switched to what I call "hiking sneakers". I'd love to find a good pair of Danner leather hiking boots.

Thundah, I think Danner still makes the "Mountain Light" model......quick google......

Yeap. I had a pair of these for years. Nice boots. I later switched to some Vasque Sundowners. I don't think Vasque makes those anymore, so the Mountain Lights might end up back in my rotation.

Looking at them to take the picture, I think they have gone past "character" and it may actually be time to replace them!I think you're right…
Not at all! Those definitely are still characterful. 8)Looking at them to take the picture, I think they have gone past "character" and it may actually be time to replace them!I think you're right…
I forgot my very safe winter boots,Oh man, with every step I would think that there's a little pebble stuck or something.
JR
If shoveling/snow blowing out on the sidewalk you wouldn’t even know, if no snow and just concrete it’s like that noisy car with a rock in its tire, but you don’t feel anything because theres 14 in each and spread apart, unlike if there were like 4 and you would think you had a pebble stuck in a groove.. now going shopping no, cause if walking on that finished smooth concrete, yeah all clicking when walking in a perfect straight line, but when turning, SCREEEEECH! So there used only when winter and I gotta clean the sidewalks off,I forgot my very safe winter boots,Oh man, with every step I would think that there's a little pebble stuck or something.

Really annoying if you're walking on concrete I think.
Or is this just for snow/ice?
They're having sale. Maybe another model?
Oeh, I like them!!!They're having sale. Maybe another model?
The mail man just delivered a pair of black ones (https://int.florisvanbommel.com/en/men/shoes/boots/wool-lined-black-calf’s-leather-lace-shoe/1075112.html) (wool lined, buffalo leather) in size 46 (11?)
Suuuper comfortable!

Well, the fact that I never buy any clothes kind of balances it out...
Well, I guess we both have at least enough clothes not to scare off other people when walking around ;)LOL
I quite like those, Gareth!
And nice thread bump :P
These Dr. Martens brown Chelsea boots have been my go-to boots for the last year. https://www.drmartens.com/uk/en_gb/p/11853201
Lashings of Urad makes them well nigh 100% waterproof and the famous air-cushion sole makes them very, very comfortable.
