Title: BO SwissTool
Post by: Leatherman123 on December 18, 2008, 09:42:36 PM
Well, I've been fondling my BO SwissTool and I noticed a few things.. There is NO plier head pivot play, no blade play, and the file is different. The teeth are cut differently, and it is as course as the Spirits! I am very impressed with this! The regular SwissTool file is junk, this is substantial! Also, the drivers work better with the BO coating!

I wonder if the extra thickness of the BO coating has taken the play out of everything.

good to hear about the file.

i guess all the new ST's coming off the assembly line will have the new improvements.

when did you buy yours?

Hmm, I got it about a month ago at a knife shop.. It has the current plier head (05) and the nice file!

I don't think so.. Also, I recently got a brand new SwissTool from Vic and it had the same file.. I think it's only on the BO models..

I don't think so.. Also, I recently got a brand new SwissTool from Vic and it had the same old dull file.. I think it's only on the BO model that has the coarse file..

Does anyone else have one? If so, how's the finsih on it? Mine is real splotchy and it has a brown tinge on some parts. It looks awful!

I have a brand new CS with the old file - makes me want to sell it already (to make room for a new ST with a new file, of course).

There is good news and bad news in this thread , the good news is I haven't heard about a different file on the Swisstool and find it very interesting. The bad news is the guy who has one has a phobia to cameras  :D

I'll bet his camera only takes pictures of leathermans. Everything else may be a Vampire image.  :pok:  I love how coarse my file is on my Vic Spirit.

I've seen a BO Wave in the store some two months ago and have been dreaming about BO Swisstools ever since.

I guess what I'm saying is PICS!!!!

I bought two ST`s last October one regular finish one BO both have the 05 newer plier head. The BO has a much coarser file than the regular. I had not noticed this untill this thread as I very seldom use a file.

I wonder if the extra thickness of the BO coating has taken the play out of everything.

I dont think so as my Bo has plier play and the tools in one handle has plenty of vertical and horizonal play. I would have sent it back to the dealer but I had my initials put on it so I could not exchage it for a better tool.

Some how I got my reply in the quote.

can we assume that because the BO is more likely to be purchased by military/government personnel that the new coarser file is showing up first on the BO model while the old stock of files are being depleted on the civilian stainless model?  or maybe its my pessimism creeping in here...

LM123 the BO on my ST is definitely not uniform , it is almost smokey in places . It is a old one though & ex Australian Army. None of the many pics I have taken of it have truly captured the unusual color the BO has gone.
Sorry Dunc, I know how pics of my Swiss Digger distract you  :pok: :D :D

You don't understand, the coarse file is only on BO SwissTools! I have several 05 SwissTools and they have the crappy file!
