Title: Boye pocket knives?
Post by: Aloxfan on September 28, 2010, 04:56:49 AM: I see that the company is now called Boye Boat Knives (http://boyeknives.com (http://boyeknives.com)), but I was curious if anyone was interested in the old designs? I have an old Boye with what I believe to be a micarta handle. Not sure if these get much coverage around here. Do you know if these older variations also had this "Dendritic Cobalt" blades and if the technology is legit or just marketing?

Always thought I`d like to try one out and see how it worked but have never got around to buying one yet. Maybe some day. Your knife looks like it would fit the hand well and has a nice shaped blade. Have you used it much?

But from a few years back as they don't have detents in the locks.

Dendritic Cobalt was a specialty steel used for high-end salt water knives because it doesn't rust, very similar in makeup to Tallonite. H-1 has pretty well surpassed it in production knives for cost reasons.

Yes it was my desk knife in junior high through high school. Often used it cutting up papers or taking clippings out of a magazine or newspaper. Considering this, the blade is still extremely sharp. It shaves hair off the arm with ease. The handle does show some decent wear and tear though, likely from sliding around in a drawer full of junk. The handle is very comfortable in the hand, with no sharp edges.
