I recently found a new liner-lock Skipper in stock locally, and promptly bought it. I suppose it is not very popular, because I could not even find one proper picture online of this version, other than the official one on the Vic site. So here are a few, for those of you who are interested.
I always wanted to try the Skipper. The changes Vic made with the beefed up construction on the liner-lock version convinced me to pull out the wallet. It’s a big burly knife, and I always thought the slide locks lacked somewhat in the muscle department. Most obvious was that puny flathead driver/ cap-lifter, shamelessly stolen from the 91mm series... It simply did not do the design justice IMO.
Anyway I like this one... Compared here to the Soldier 08 and Workchamp slide lock.

Blade moved to the 2nd layer like the other liner-locks:

Aye aye cap'n but when you've been adrift in an open boat for three weeks, having finished the grog and the cabin boy, and your fingers are raw and chilled to the bone - which is easier to close, the one with the slide-lock or the liner-lock?
