72 min is a long time to listen to a rant indeed.
What was the subject? You can PM me if you like, I promise not to rant. :D
This sounds like it will be a good thread.
Does your house of Styx come with an office??
I´m not that curious. Anyhow, most secrets are interesting for their keepers only.
Hope the new house will be to your liking (and ours)!
So.....I might be assuming here.......but it was a date? So you don't know here? And she goes off for more than an hour?
Biggest mistake I made in the last 10 years was not running the other way :salute:

Do they actually do that? I mean, I don't see how it is a good idea to do drugs while working. Also, do they do so much drugs they know different kinds by taste? What if it wasn't a drug but something that was in no shape or form suitable for human consumption? :ahhh

Actually I was amazed. Didn't even want to interrupt her just to see how long it can go. To be fair my mind was on GVT the whole time as I was researching it and some things weren't adding up.Saucy! :o
Now to be fair I caught myself on one date years ago explaining how to change a faucet to the young lady (early 20s)

Exactly why I say only 48%.
There is a saying in Slavonija - "Smurf a man who has more plumb jam than šljivovica (plumb schnapps) in his home."
And I may joke that it is used as a medicine to everything, but it isn't far from the truth. While most people would consider putting some hard liquor in their tea a somewhat ok thing to do when running a high fever, we also put it on rags that are wrapped around the ankles and wrists to help bring a high fever down, and in some cases use it as a chest rub (vapour rub). Oddly enough it works.
A lot of other home remedies include either using different sorts of liquor or making it from scratch. Orahovac for instance (schnapps made from walnut) is amazing for calming down an upset stomach and even when one has the runs.
I remember explaining how to make blackberry wine to a friend in the states because he and his mother were recovering from cancer. Can't say that it was a miracle drug but their recoveries were a lot faster and better.
There are a ton of herbal schnapps variants that help with everything. Honey schnapps (I'd get quartered for saying it is the same thing as mead) helps with soar throat. Wine grape schnapps is marvellous for toothache.
And one thing that isn't considered hard liquor is propolis. I think you can get it just about anywhere in the world. Basically it is some sort of bee antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral product that is diluted with 96% alcohol (I think, might be 94). Cures just about anything but you have to dose it right - 1 drop for every 10kg (22lbs) of body weight.
Oh and do note that orahovac and višnjevac (cherry schnapps) can come in a wide range of alcohol percentages so they can be considered a liquor (think more like cream whiskey) or hard liquor. Together with Honey schnapps they are the most evil things to drink as they have a sweet flavour and you don't know that you've had enough until you try to stand up and realize it is a Herculean task

Very cool man!
A good cause. :salute:Cool! What were you talking about Styx?
The organization I volunteer in. It is mostly about type 1 diabetes and it's correlation to sustainable life. Since type 1 diabetes has a genetic component you can't really influence that, but the rapid rise in those who have it can't be explained by genetics. The factors that can explain it are environmental. And although this sounds a lot like hippy ecology talk, it was more focused on doing what we can for our small scale environment. For instance our nutritional habits which in English are called with the phrase diet. That word would conjure up something that we go on for 3 to 6 weeks before summer, weddings and so on. What we promote is finding a way which is sustainable for the long term for that person that would prevent chronic disease or prevent complications if such a condition already exists. So while our president is geared towards vegan and mostly raw food, I am personally more geared towards counting calories (I've gone down about 12kg/27lbs in 96 days), some people have amazing results with ketogenic diets, the bottom line is follow what you are comfortable with and what supports your health.
Another big part of the interview was how and what we do to support families with kids that have type 1 diabetes. This Thread is Worthless Without Audio! :like:
I'll put up a link once it is up on their webpage. Although I'm not sure if that will help you considering it is all in Croatian.Very cool man!
Thanks. Now if only someone started paying me for those things (I've become the go to person for public presentations in the second organization in a row)

Damn, how do you manage it?
well as a fellow lifetime nutrition enthusiast here, studies show that chemical components in mainly animal foods, dairy included, have an impact on the development and incidence of Type 1 diabetes in new and younger generations, as a result of accumulation in their mother's bodies.
As a result, many scientists, physicians and renowned figures in the world of human nutrition recommend switching to a vegan or plant based diet for better health (apart from fighting obesity, CVD, type diabetes 2, environmental impact, gas emissions, antibiotic dependency and accumulation, etc.) and unparalleled results
Type 1 diabetes was lethal until the 20s and since then there's been no way to avoid being born with the disease but luckily nowadays it's easily treated with insulin, therapy and diet. Ketogenic diets have proven very useful in fighting against leukemia, Alzheimer and both types of diabetes especially. :tu:
Keto diets also show very good results for weight loss, skin health, and many other small(er) health improvements.
LCHF diets are very similar in macro proportions and are very well studied for treating many metabolic diseases with great success, and even improving the body's performance in physical activity (dozens of athletes, bodybuilders, and very active sportsmen and women have noticed improvement in their abilities, longer term beneficial health effects...) battling the myths of "carb loading", "can't build muscle without animal protein" and "carbohydrates are necessary macronutrient for the correct functioning of the human body" :twak:
It's a fascinating new subject of study that fights the Food Pyramid and Nutrition bases written and formulated by the USDA and backed (and financed) by the industry for 50 years, unveiling the big companies' efforts to make us believe that all we were forced or motivated to eat was healthy, good for us and backed up by (crooked, manipulated) science leading to the real sad SAD  (Standard American Diet) that now has shockwaved to most other countries in the world
sorry for the rant, I just had to leave it there
Cool! I have no idea what you where saying, but the sound of your language is very fascinating. Thanks for the link.
I spent Christmas 1991 in Bosnia, in a small farmer´s village, birthplace of my brother-in-law.
He was the only person there I could talk to even though I speak Dutch and English well, and German adequately, But many people there at the time spoke only their own language, and maybe Russian if they had had an education. Furthermore, because of some small brain disorder I have troubles interpreting and responding to body language. More accurately, I don´t even notice it.
Everybody was very nice and kind, food and drink were excellent and plentiful, but it was a difficult stay for me.

It does not sound odd. Not to make for of the French, but french sounds odd to me. Maybe taking 4 years of Latin (which I forgot most of it) has something to do with it. I am spit baling here , but the language sounds a bit Russian like. Or it sounds a bit Russian like to me. Either way, it was cool to hear you on the broadcast.Cool! Not a huge problem. Just tell 'em I'm dead and see how many show up for the funeral. Actually a morbid thought - a way to ensure a big funeral is to piss off enough people that they'll drop everything just to check if it is true

I hate the trend of "Chinos" very baggy in the seat (often with the crotch worn down near the knees) and very tight around the lower legs.
Chino's exist in so many forms.
I swear by them!
Not the skinnies though...
fun thing, "Chinos" in Spanish means "Chinese people" but generally said in a despective way. Like saying "look, that man standing there is a Chino" or "all those you see there are Chinos" to mean it in an insulting and impolite way :P
The same word is used for $0.99 stores where you can find almost anything for cheap and low quality, so it's another name for "Chinese made quantity over quality" type of stores.
if you say "I bought this ---- in the Chinos" it means you got it at the cheapest price and probably cheapest quality possible :salute:

i got canned a few weeks in. asking a sensible question was apparently a big no no. the funny part is that if I didn't get canned on monday, I would've gotten on friday that same week. there was an issue my former boss has been trying to figure out a solution to for about 2 years. i talked some of the details over with the other staff and had a solution in 4 hours. the guy was so steamed about it that he gave me paid time off while i was on my 2 weeks notice just so that he wouldn't have to deal with me
Just seeing about the job as well ::) Congrats  So how is it going?

There's a saying that people generally don't leave a job because of the job; they leave because of their manager.

Had a few beers on Tuesday night with my first manager when I started working......in 1994.
One of the topics we discussed was each of our school friends that were very successful in life, and what success means, or at least how each of us defines our own success.
Some become doctors, lawyers or accountants and make a good living, the guys that got really rich had something else than what is generally called "high IQ". EQ?
I believe my EQ is at retard level
Welll... I'm out of luck it seems as I had to google the lyrics myself
:D
I only have one rule for my truck's radio: no one gets to change the channel when Zeppelin is playing.
What if Jimmy Page did it? :pok:
Good luck styx hope all goes well for you :tu:
best of luck!!!!

oddly enough a lot of the continental part of Croatia looks like that. hopefully there will be more hikes for me in the future. well at least more often than they were so far
it was in the low 20s. currently it is in the low teens and raining
31 here today though it didn't feel that bad actually. Dropping back down to 20 at the end of the week, it's been a weird year so far. Lots of rain though which was great.
did y'all know that Aleksanr Karelin won 3 Olympic golds and 1 silver medal, 2 world cups, 9 world titles, 12 european titles and finished with a record of 33 wins and 1 loss?
Sorry to hear that styx
Those smurfs should be shot
Well we just got robbed. They didn't take much, a few perfumes and one ring, but they created a lot of damage
Novi Vinodolski

You never know it might still happen
Getting Spider-Man powers

So you Croatians have spiders that bite? I think it is time we build a wall on the border. With biohazard signs and all... :ahhh

Keep on laughing. In the meanwhile I am on the interwebs studying relevant material for the application of my plan:

ok quick question - how do y'all sharpen your wire cutters (dedicated ones) or does anyone have broken Spyderco triangle sharpening sticks?
I bet there is still loads to be seen :tu:
Sounds great, Styx. :tu:
The bunkers sound fun to explore :tu:
Welcome back, broseph! Sounds like you had a good time!
it was about 28 Fahrenheit there without the wind. and closer to 14 Fahrenheit with the wind. needless to say we're looking into proper fleece mid layers.while I like wool, my girlfriend is not a fan at all and might be allergic. plus for the price of one good wool mid layer we can get 4 or 5 pieces of fleece
I hear that. Fleece is so reasonable, and with great performance.
A ništa onda, ove godine do Splita pa navrati na čašu razgovora.
I'm slightly allergic to wool as well, but Merino wool does not trigger the reaction... It is however even more expensive, so might not be the solution you're looking for :pok:
i'm just thinking if it is better to take a vest or pullover
I'm so behind!
Congrats on the engagement!
Congrats on the Wedding!!
Congrats on the future good news!!!
Congratulation to the Styx family! I just found this thread and stayed up to read through the whole thing.
I'm praying you will have lots of good adventures to write about.
But first: What is the little bugger's name, and what is to be his first MT?
