Good luck with your challenge Rapidray  :like:Thanks
Going to give this one a go and just getting done with the Traditional Challenge and the MTO Anniversary Challenge. Which were really fun.
Counted them up and I have a few to spare. So...
Day 1 photos
This is the one that got me here to this forum! And threw me down the rabbit hole!
I´ll follow this one. I have the badge and it was great fun !It is a small list on that badge for sure. Thanks!
Nice challenge, I'll be following too! :tu:Thanks
(I reached the point with my collection where I too could attempt this, and I guess I'll give it a go at some point.)
I’m looking forward to seeing all your SAKs, good luck.
I think I am still several shy, but one day I may be there.
I will definitely be following this challenge :tu:Looking forward to seeing you! :drink:
It'll be fun to follow Ray, looking forward to seeing your collection :cheers:Thanks :tu:
Good luck Ray, it's a nice badge to have :cheers:Thanks - when I saw it I was thinking that would be very interesting but thought I wouldn’t have that many...untill I counted them!
Good Luck. I'll follow along as well. Thanks :tu:
I've never had a Mini Champ. Don't think I've even held one. :dunno:
Same here never had or held one
I've never had a Mini Champ. Don't think I've even held one. :dunno::sa:
What do you mean...?! :o:rofl:
Jack, you're missing out on a great knife! I love mine.:iagree: 110%
Same here never had or held one :facepalm:Oh boy...lets just have one, two or three on this one :drink:
OK, OK, if I see one somewhere, I'll ask to examine it. Can't promise more than that.
It seems like there are a lot of us who don’t own and have never held or seen a minichamp. I’ve been curious but never tried just because I’m not sure how the thickness would compare to the small size and if I’d really use the extras as compared to a rambler.Understandable - just look at me, a little over a month ago I didn’t have any traditional folders, zero. Now I have 3! :tu:
Folder Beholder has done challenges with them in the past, one of which I couldn't finish. I'd love to try another one! There is a MiniChamp challenge...I need to visit the awards area more often.
Looking good Ray :cheers:Thanks!
I completely agree with your saw comments :tu:
Great carry for day 3 Rapidray :like: :tu:Yes it is! :tu:
The Farmer is a wonderful SAK. I like to carry mine when I am in my yard and messing around in the woods. The saw is a beast on wood.It sure is
:iagree:. Great job Ray 👍Thanks :tu:
The Farmer is a nice knife and I agree that SAK does make a good saw for such a compact kit.It is a nice knife
looks good Ray, good luck :tu:Thanks for stopping by! :tu:
Me too Ray! I have a couple of Soldiers that I love to carry.Soldiers are very nice to carry. The next couple of days will be a treat then! :tu:
Day 4 photos
The Alox Pioneer. These have a key ring with them. What I love about this model is the reamer/punch.
:iagree:
Great SAK with a great tool in the Reamer-punch. :tu:
An easy Sunday...
Nice pics Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks
:like:Thanks
Nice Solder Ray! I have an '06 that I use from time to time. It's a great knife! That they are! Tomorrow’s will be a little different .
Nice arrival. I have one as well for short term emergency use, but thinking of upgrading to an inergy kodiak.I have had a Goal Zero Nomad for back packing for over 5 years and it is still going strong. HSN had the Yeti 400 on sale and 5 payments of $88.00 so that got me off the fence! I looked at the Kodiak on YouTube and liked it but cost said otherwise.
Cool thread, 'Ray. Are there any you've regretted using? No, none. They all have their use’s and thats how they get picked. Guess thats why they make so many different models and sizes :tu:
Just read the 1st 87 posts.Welcome and thanks! Well this challenge has 30 different models coming up so you might see something you like! Any questions - feel free the ask.
Agreed with you and others on the Farmer’s saw and the OHT’s.
I have touched a mini champ once, selected a Vagabond.
For writing I do have 2 NiteWriters(think that is the name)
I need to learn more of the Vic SAKs, I think I have 5 different models.

How are you liking your Yeti?
Like you, I have had a Nomad for several years that came with the Guide 10. It is a nice little set up.:iagree: a regular generator isn’t practical for me either! Then there is the noise and fumes. Thanks for your input!
I’ve only had the Yeti 400 about a year and mainly have it for charging electronic devices and batteries during extended power outages. I do have an AC/DC frig that I have used it to run some and it worked fine.
The main reason I looked at the Kodiak was the added capacity, especially after a recent storm caused a 10 day power outage less than a mile away. A regular generator is not that practical for me, which is what led me to the Yeti and makes the Kodiak appealing.

Another user of Guide 10 and Nomad, love that setup especially going for multi-days camping. Never own those heavy duty portable power station, kinda wonder what kind of appliances could they power them and for how long...
Sunday knife sounds perfect :like: :tu:
:iagree:
Awesome knife.Yes it is!
Nice Spartan Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks
I like the name of this SAK, Spartan. Its a must have for any collection :tu::iagree: 110% a must have for sure and the best first SAK you can own!
I liked the Birth-year knife, 55 was a good year as I recall, but 53 is even more special;)Spartans are great, no matter what name Victorinox puts on it, it’s going to be great for sure! :tu:
I do have a Spartan, but w/o the special markings. That is very nice!

Very nice Spartan. Thanks for the explanation. I’ve seen “Hoffritz” mentioned a few times on here, but didn’t know the story. Not a problem!
You had me at mag glass. :like::rofl:
Nice Woodsman. I love mine, also. I have come to love and appreciate the magnify glass.:iagree:
Nice  :like:It was good!
Nice choice today. :like:Thank you sir! It is a nice one for sure.
Day 8 photos
I have two favorite SAK’s. My birth year Soldier and this one, the discontinued Woodsman. Thanks Barry :hatsoff:
It is the Huntsman with one more layer...the inline Phillips and the Magnifying glass. The older I get, the magnifying glass is becoming a tool I use more often!
Very nice knifeThanks
 Me too my friend!Yes, the Woodsman has spoiled me! :hatsoff:
Yes, the Woodsman has spoiled me! :hatsoff:
I even gave my grandson the Huntsman I used in the challenge which leaves me with 3 BSA’s models, which is memorabilia to me with belt buckles and bola’s!
Thanks again :hatsoff:
It is strange how to me the difference between the 5-layer Woodsman and the 4-layer Huntsman/Fieldmaster doesn’t seem significant, but the difference between 3 and 4 layers seems more noticeable.:iagree:
It is sad that if you want a 91mm SAK with saw and magnifying glass now, your only option is SwissChamp.
:iagree:
There is one worse situation...there is not a single 111mm with a magnifying glass! It would have to be a mod. I would love to see them do that.
111mm SAKs is one rabbit hole I have yet to go down. The 111mm are definitely working built knives. I’ll be covering them a little later. As far as rabbit holes go, I have enjoyed this one. :tu:
:like: Beware if you do... it's every bit the slippery slope that the other rabbit holes are!So true...I went from 1 to 10 in under 2 months!
I'm really enjoying your collection Ray :tu:Thanks - I am liking it also.
Nice BSA collection. I wish Victorinox would make a Girl Scout SAK.I have always wondered why they didn’t also. Would have been cool. And it seems the BSA has multiple contracts with different company’s. :dunno:
:like: nice trio :tu:Thank you.
Nice one sir!
:iagree:Thanks guys!
We hear underrated on the forum from time to time. The Bantam is in my opinion underrated. I also like to carry it when minimal is wanted. Nice choice for today.Very underrated! I think its the perfect minimalist :tu:
Nice knife.Thanks
Those are awesome Ray :tu:Thanks - hunting these down was fun. The rest of my BSA stuff has to be in a couple of other boxes. I am pretty sure my dads Buck 110 is in there also.
Great finds Rapidray :like: :like: :tu::iagree: it was a great find! Thanks
Great compasses RR. :like:It is done -
Please feel free to repost some pics in the SAKs and compasses thread !

Terrific Tinker, that one, Ray. :tu:
:iagree: :tu: :tu:
Great choice for the day. :like:Thanks - it is a nice one for sure!
Day 12 photos
The Tinker is my other 84mm SAK. I found this one BNIB and the Phillips has the can key opener in it.
Very nice find. Thanks you much.
:like:Thank you. Victorinox does make a lot of nice stuff for sure!
You've got some Gems for sure :tu:
That would be nice but I was thinking 70’s-80’s. But then I’m no expert either
Thanks
Mid '80s at least. 'Square' phillips ran at least to '82 or so.Don’t be a stranger!
Excellent, thread so far Ray! :like: Nice stuff every day. :tu:
Now I'll go back to watching quietly.
Don’t be a stranger!
Thanks
Nice scales!!Thanks - they are different!
Wait, this is a factory scaled Tinker? :ahhh It's awesome.Yes sir - 100% Victorinox. I think? think they were made for one year only. I read some where that the material is the same as on the 111mm Soldier on the grip strips.
Excellent looking scales Rapidray :like: :tu:It is an interesting pattern for sure!
Yes sir - 100% Victorinox. I think? think they were made for one year only. I read some where that the material is the same as on the 111mm Soldier on the grip strips.
That is very cool. :like::rofl:
You can send it to me if it needs some pocket time. Be a shame to let that baby moulder away in a dank safe.
Just enjoyed reading through 8 pages featuring wonderful different SAKs and compasses :like:Thanks!
Thanks!
Enjoyed your stitch removal photo’s! Glad all is healing up well.
Day 13 photos
The Tinker Soft Grip - aka GeoTec - aka Wabenmuster (honeycomb). A 91mm with soft grip scales. The first and last of its kind. It wasn’t untill my 3rd visit to the knife store that I finally asked to see it. And as soon as it was in my hands I knew this one was different. Must of been my confused look on my face  That when the salesman explained what it was. This one is a safe queen for sure.
(https://i.imgur.com/yellrOc.gif)Yes, I had to remove mine also and it was a weird feeling when you do it yourself. :tu:
No need to volunteer Jack! I've got a spot :)[quote author=Nix link=topic=82378.msg1992267#msg1992267 date=1565717946:rofl:

Very nice :like:Thank you!
Those are some cool scales. I bet they would provide a good grip in wet environments.:iagree: They probably would with that tacky feeling to them!
Day 14 photos
It’s Wednesday so a Hoffritz Camping knife today. A 3 layer with the saw blade. Probably the thinnest knife with back tools you can take into the woods.
What a nice reminder to myself that I don't have one :ahhh:rofl:
That's a real beauty Ray!Thank you sir!
That is a great SAK Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks :tu:
I've always enjoyed the camping symbol on those SAKs.:iagree: 110%
Nice knife Ray.
Nice Camper Ray :like:Thank you both! So many nice SAK
Nice one Rapidray looks in excellent condition :like: :tu:Thanks
Sounds a great shop to get SAKs from :tu:You have no ideal...you look at it and think humm ok...you go in and your jaw drops! Knives knives knives everywhere! Factory, custom, discontinued etc. I love it!
I've never handled a 108mm. They look to be a great "larger" size from the 91mm. I used to think SAKs were only multi bladed tools. Vic sure did cover a great deal of knife related needs. Nice carry.
Another nice SAK. It sounds like that work in Georgia was very beneficial towards your SAK collection.Yes it was! And then there was the SMKW where I got 4 of the 111mm. I may be heading up that way in 2 months time
:ahhh My kind of place!!It’s a place where you get to move cases of knives to see what is blow the next case! You truly are searching for stuff.
I carried a Safari Solo when I worked in the fruit trade. Perfect knife !Fruit trade - cool. :tu:
Yes it was! And then there was the SMKW where I got 4 of the 111mm. I may be heading up that way in 2 months time :whistle:I've been to SMKW once when I was driving cross country. I'd love to get back there.
I've been to SMKW once when I was driving cross country. I'd love to get back there. That place is so BIG! Last time I went I picked up the Rescue Tool, which took 15 minutes...I then spent an hour and a half going thru the different floors and the museum/artifacts on the bottom floor. It would take a day to look at everything, pack a lunch.
Another great day Ray :tu:I am surprised that with it being only one blade and so light, it’s a joy to carry!
Those 108's are nice. :tu:Yes they are. I wouldn’t mind finding a couple more! :tu:
Its surprising how much larger of a blade you get on the 108mm vs 91mm. I do realize its a larger knife but she by side sure makes a difference.:iagree: The blade size is very nice!
Nice 111mm carry. I like the size of the 111mm a lot but I dont seem to carry them all that often. Not sure why? :dunno:
Nice looking sandwich   :like:Good looking and even more tastier!
The Picnicker looks like a great all rounder :tu:It is a nice basic model. One you would use on an easy day, kicking back at the house. :tu:
Day 17 photos
The Rucksack. This is a basic Picknicker with one tool layer added. The saw. If you go hiking or into the woods...the Rucksack is the one you want to take with you. The saw is the nice solid one I like. I’ll explain it on tomorrows model.
:like: can't wait until tomorrow :rofl: me too!
Though I would prefer a One-hand opening version on person, I did put a similar model in my larger survival kit because of its size. Really great tool for outdoor, especially the saw is awesome! You and I are on the same page on this! Tomorrows model is why :tu:
Rucksack looks like a great outdoor tool. Nice size and we already know the 91mm saw is excellent so this has to be great given a bit more length. You are right. Which is why I like the 91mm but after getting the 111mm saw...oh yeah...better!
I've got a Rucksack and really like it. The 111mm saw is fantastic. That is on my list as it is a “Huntsman on steroids”, I just haven’t come across one. My closest is the Hercules, which adds the pliers.
For me, the perfect 111mm SAK is the Outrider. A Ruckie + scissors. A Huntsman on steroids. A brilliant SAK for me. :tu:

For me, the perfect 111mm SAK is the Outrider. A Ruckie + scissors. A Huntsman on steroids. A brilliant SAK for me. :tu:
:tu::iagree: very easily an EDC. My OHT was it for years at work. :tu:
I don't think you'll regret it.
I thought the Outrider might be a bit big for EDC, but, after a 30-day challenge with the 'rider, I realized it could easily be my 'one' SAK. :)
If (more probably when) I decide to purchase a 111mm, it is probably going to be an Outrider because of the tool set.Very nice, you would like it.
:tu:

Thanks, the Gala was tasty! :cheers:The only apple I like
The only apple I likeI can understand why!
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]
That's the only 111mm I have and a constantly companion with outdoor adventures no matter if it's fishing, kayaking, hiking, muchroom hunting or just walking in the woods or anything else. Wonderful tool and great knife.:iagree:
Guess I will have to get another one
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]
Great SAK Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks :drink:
I can why this would be a great outdoor SAK. Nice choice for todays carry. Thanks
The OHT is my only 111 SAK, and I do like blade. Always meant to find PE model but never did.The Plain Edge would be nice as I do not have it in the OHT myself.

There is also a newer thread on the same subject

Nice knife. I can see why you really like the 111mm.It is! Can’t wait till you get yours.
It is! Can’t wait till you get yours.
I did remember I do have one 111mm, a Rescue Tool I keep in the car. It’s amazing how many SAK are kept in the vehicles and we forget about them.
Went to the NEX today and looked at there SAK’s, Executive, Camper and Tinkers are all they had. Was kinda disappointed thats all they had.
Our NEX didn’t have any that I saw the last time I was there.None - oh boy.
I have the German Army version of that knife Ray. It's my hiking and camping companion. Do you know if Vic is discontinuing sales of the Army models? I'd like to get the Swiss Army version.I have not heard anything in regards to the Soldiers. I would think that one is safe.
I'm drawn to the new Soldier knife, but....and this is a big issue for me...I don't care for the serrations.I can go with a plain edge, but for the woods I would want the serrations. Then again, that’s why Victorinox makes so many different models! :tu:
I guess I'm an OHT guy. :dunno:
Nice carry.Thank you! It is a nice carry.
I'm drawn to the new Soldier knife, but....and this is a big issue for me...I don't care for the serrations.

I have several OHTs and a Soldier, all with the serrated edge.I like my Rucksack for sure. I prefer the slide-lock better myself. :tu:
If you want the plain edge then go for the Forester. Although it has a corkscrew instead of a Phillips driver.
The Forester replaces the slide lock Rucksack model, another one of my favorites, there´s one in my backpack always.
Nice knife RR.Other than the Soft grip Tinker that would be it. I heard the soft grip is what is used on the Soldier.
The textured grip something I really like about the 111mm knifes. It is also one dislike I have of the 91mm standard cellidor scales.
Great that you’ve managed to get to the end of this challenge Rapidray! It’s been a great thread. :like:91mm range only - now that would be a cool 30 days! I look forward to it.
You’ve inspired me to do the same...I’m going to kick off on Friday. Will overlap the discontinued challenge that I’m doing in September, but I’m always up for carrying 2 SAKs!
As a little spin on the theme, I will step through each of the SAKs in the current 91mm range, as this has been my main collection focus.
I've always like that insignia as well. I can't believe we're at 29 days already. Well done and the time sure did fly. That is a really nice insignia. :tu:
Nice one Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks :tu:
Great uses Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks
Yum :cheers:The apple was great! Thanks
If I weren't on the Explorer Challenge, I think I'd get my GAK out :DI won’t temp you so I’ll just say...NO!
Great couple of days Ray, just getting caught up :tu: :cheers:Thank you!
That's a gem, Ray. :like:Thanks and I have a special one for you tomorrow
The fish is striking a great pose. Nice SAK.Thanks
Very nice older model SAK :like: :tu:Thanks :drink:
Very nice Fisherman! :like:It is my favorite of the three I have! :tu:
Very nice :tu:Thanks! :tu:
Nice knife, Ray. I’ve never had a knife with the fish scaler, although it intrigues me.Thanks!
Thanks!
What I like most about the fish scaler is the ruler! And the hook remover is perfect for pencil/pen to where you can make nice straight lines! Because of the ruler you can now have a rangefinder! Think it was based on a 6 foot man.
Good score Rapidray :like: :tu:
Score!
Really nice!Thanks!
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]
Real nice score. Always nice when you get something new, but especially if your not spending money out of pocket.:iagree: 110%
:iagree: :tu:If you all were here, it would be another round on me! :drink:
Good deal :like::cheers:
Looks nice and handy :like: :tu:Especially on a sail boat!
Day 23 photos
The Mariner is a slide-lock 111mm knife with a shackle opener and a marlin spike tip. The shackle opener is the slotted end making it somewhat adjustable on different size shackles.
I have a Helmsman that I thought was really neat. The marlin spike/shackle opener can be versatile. Nice carry.Great link! Thanks for sharing. There were a couple of uses I didn’t know about! :cheers:Show contenthttps://youtu.be/O-2Z2YJGcDg
Nice Rapidray :like:Check out Aloha link in his above post! It will show you multiple usages. :tu:
I’ve never fully understood how these spikes and shackle openers are intended to be used...never spent any time around boats. :dunno:
:like: And a red one at that! Most seem blue.Thanks. The red is what caught my eye to begin with. I was expecting the blue one also.
Ray - You have a nice assortment of SAKs and fun using them.
So, you may be the best person to ask a simple question.
The background - one of my adoptive grand daughters at the Y where I work is 22, graduated from college with a major in Spanish and will be leaving mid-September to teach English in Madrid, Spain and travel Europe on her down time.
I have decided to gift her a SAK, but not aware of all models. Yet, I could see her requiring a scissors, knife, can opener, bottle opener, and of course a Cork screw.
The Climber came to mind. Or, is there another model that would be better. 3 layers would be best, maybe a 4 if better tool options.

Nice knife Ray and Aloha thanks for sharing the video. Thanks
Day 23 certainly didn't disappoint :hatsoff:Thanks
Nice one Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks
Another fine choice. Those scales are sweet. :salute:On the 111mm I would agree! It would be a tie with Rescue Tool’s Stayglow!
After seeing the video about the spike I would really like to get one :dd: :like:A very useful tool for sure! :tu:
Nice choice. The Skipper is right up there with the Outrider for 111mm on my wish list.It is very nice. I am very happy with there performance.
Nice bonus for today Rapidray :like:
Another cool SAK :tu:Thanks guys!
Nice comparison pics Rapidray :like: :tu:
Thanks for the comparison. Not a problem.
Thanks
:iagree:
SCORE :hatsoff:. I am a huge fan of the SC. I keep one in the exact pouch on my hike pack. You can get the replacement items online if you want. I had the dual pouch which was also really nice. Awesome choice today. Thanks!
Great carry Rapidray :like: :tu:
Great choice for the day :tu:
Nice find. Thanks - it was a great find...something that just came my way! :woohoo:
What a fantastic bargain - sweet score, Rapidray! Thanks :tu:
That's a fantastic find Ray!!It was! And it wasn’t even in the counter case. I saw a box of knives sitting behind the counter and asked if I could look at it. She placed TWO boxes and let me going thru them and it was in the second box.
Looks good with those scales :like: :tu:Thanks - I like the G-10 as it has a warm feeling to it as does wood. :tu:
Nice SAK and scales.Thank you :tu:
:like:
Very nice! I had one a few years ago that I wish I had held on to. Looks great Ray!I hear that. It’s a good model for sure, but the Woodsman is still my perfect 91mm!
Another nice one :like:Thank you!
Nice scale, how's the fit? Does it need any glue to keep it on?The fit is just great! No glue was used at all...one side snapped right into place and the other side snapped in but the 4th on need a little help so the hammer came out and with a few light taps snapped into place :tu:
Nice pic and scales Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks
Great scales and SAK Rapidray :like:Thanks - they are holding up really great! :tu:
I'm diggin' that Outdoorsman. :like:Thanks :tu:
I generally like to stay in the 4-layer or fewer category, but I'd strongly consider a Woodsman.
...or Yeoman WS :pok:
It is no secret that the Woodsman is my favorite 91mm knife! :woohoo:
...or Yeoman WS :pok:
I really like the Woodsman also. I find it a shame how few current options there are with the magnifying glass.Very true! What is even worse is there isn’t a single 111mm that has a magnifying glass!
The fit is just great! No glue was used at all...one side snapped right into place and the other side snapped in but the 4th on need a little help so the hammer came out and with a few light taps snapped into place :tu:
Oh most definitely! I would buy them again in a heartbeat - no problems!
 Thanks, that's good to know! The tight tolerances make it a very viable option for people who wants G10 scales.
I really like my Outrider, and think the pliers would be a nice addition, thanks for showing it off :tu:The Outrider is one that I do not have in my collection. It is on my short list of to buy.
Another great SAK Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks. :tu:
Vic has some great names and this is one of them. I can see this SAK being a great one to have and carry for a lot of reasons. Well cover with this one. Thanks Aloha!
Day 27 photos
Back to the 111mm. The Hercules is a 5 layer knife. Next to the Outrider, it is the next in line that carries the scissors. The Hercules is basically the Outrider with the pliers making it the 5th layer. While I can carry it in my cargo pocket pants, I prefer to have it on my belt in a nylon sheath.
While the Hercules seems to be way too fat for my liking; the extra driver (No. 2 Phillips?) and pliers are really good additions to the Outrider. Except the price tag. But then again, $89 isn't too bad for what you get. The Outrider I've became a big fan of. Decently compact, but perfect for EDC type jobs. I have the scissors and small screwdriver for around the house and EDC, and the belt cutter of the Fireman for farm work--I swap between the two as needed. The thickness can be an issue. For being a work blade tool, I feel they go hand in hand. For getting a really good work tool it has to be solid. I think the 4 layers and under are nice pocket carries and the 5 and over layers for cargo pants and even better with sheaths on the belt.
Day 28 photosAnother great carry, you have a nice collection of multiblade SAKs.
And my 10,000 post!
It’s Wednesday so another Hoffritz. The Original Craftsman. A 6 layer 91mm with a handful of tool! This model is discontinued. It is the model of a couple of famous models - NASA’s space knives and the 20th and 30th Anniversary moon landing editions.

Another great day Ray, and congrats on 10,000 :hatsoff:Thank you!
:iagree: :tu:Thank you sir!
PS: Also, thank you for your reply to my question. I however, will have two problems. The first is that all stores in my area that sell SAKs, do so via clamshell packaging and only a very limited selection. And second, my wife would not understand why I would take one of my fellow co-workers shopping!!!Climber is a great choice.
I referred to her as my adopted granddaughter, actually I have five. They are all coworkers, and life guards at the pool I manage. They began calling me PawPaw after observing my actual 6 year old grand daughter watching for me daily and our interactions while she was at camp, then other grandkids when they would use the pool and talk to me as well.
So, many of the life guards begin doing so as well. Some real interesting young people, all are college age, Pursuing engineering, nursing, and other serving style degrees.
I will confirm with her the plans in Spain, yet suspect the Climber to be a good choice.
Thanks again. Enjoying your challenge and daily SAK selection.

Congratulations on reaching 10K posts Rapidray :cheers:Thank you sir! :tu:
:like: My favorite knife for camping (and even EDC). I've got to get mine (from the mid '70s, I think) to Vic to be refurbished. It's got a lot of functional issues that it came with. Pliers are good, but add a bit too much thickness and weight to the knife.
Another great day Ray, and congrats on 10,000 :hatsoff:+1 on that milestone! :salute:
+1 on that milestone! :salute:Thanks Max!
+1 more - that’s quite a milestone! :hatsoff:Thanks you!
Oh you have a newer one with the pliers! Do some before and after photos to share with us! :tu:
I did. I was doing to fix a Master Craftsman which I'd broken the saw on, and was going to use the Craftsman's saw. I didn't know what I was doing, and made a mess. At least the tools themselves weren't damaged--so I can reuse them for modding; when I finally get the right tools and to the point I can pull and reattach pins without wrecking the liners or bushings. Now, if I have an SAK with problems; it gets set aside and when I get a few together (since I always use UPS to ship, which is pricey) I send them off to Vic.Ohhh okay. I have one I need to send off myself.
Yet the regular Craftsman--it's a bit rough, but I never messed with it. In fact, when I first took it camping, it was over a year after I made the restoration mistake.
Very nice Craftsman and congrats on 10k posts. Thanks
Nice rescue tool Rapidray :like: :tu:Thanks! It will be residing in the van shortly. :tu:
Nice Ray, the Van is a great place for it :tu:I agree
One of the neatest tools. The sheath makes me smile as I always think McDonalds.
The Rescue Tool is a nice tool. I keep mine in my car glove box. There are more options available to me for a closer accessibility. One of the nice options of having a van! Really happy that I got it instead of the Jeep Gladiator.
Great job RR, I had missed reading your daily entries so I spent some quality time today and yesterday getting caught up! :like: :tu:Thanks! This challenge has gone by so fast! It’s hard to believe tomorrow is the last day.
Nice one. This is a biggun. Its the kind of SAK that seem perfect for a pack/bag/kit of any kind.Yes sir, it is! The only thing missing is the magnifying glass. Which doesn’t make an appearance on any 111mm knife. A shame!
That is one large toolbox :like: :tu:BIG toolbox!
That is one large toolbox :like: :tu:
Day 30 photosI agree. I was shocked how wide it was next to the standard WorkChamp.
This is one that is best carried in a sheath. At a little over 1 1/2 inches, it is wide.
I agree. I was shocked how wide it was next to the standard WorkChamp.Nice comparison photo! Thanks for sharing :tu:
Congrats on completing your 30 day challenge!

This has been a excellent challenge Rapidray  :like:Thanks - I enjoyed it!
Congrats Rapidray on the 30 days! :cheers:A monster - I like that!
And you finished with a true XL monster! :like:
...I’ll have to keep that in mind as I travel down my 30 day challenge...still on the 3-layer SAKs...
Excellent SAK to finish up with! :like:Thanks Nix!
Congrats on a challenge well played!
A monster - I like that!...was your thread that gave me the inspiration :hatsoff:
I am enjoying your 30 day challenge very much. Excellent write ups and photos! Great information. :hatsoff:
...was your thread that gave me the inspiration :hatsoff:It may have been...but you took the ball and ran it home! Well done.
Outstanding challenge. It exposed me to some SAKs I never thought about before. The blades are at different levels when you are cutting. I have less control with the SwissChamp. I have better control with the WorkChamp XL because the position is better. With the regular size it’s not an issue.
I do have to ask - To me it always seems like the wide knives like the WorkChamp XL would be awkward when using do to the width. Do you find that the case?
Great SAK to finish with :tu:Thank you.
And thanks for sharing your collection with us, it's been fun to follow along :hatsoff:
Great thread Ray!. Congrats on both finishing it and making your 10k posts! :tu:Thanks it was fun!
I have followed the challenge but forgot to tell you that it has been fun to follow and you have a nice collection!Thank you!
[It's not failure if you learn something from it]
It was a great challenge and terrific thread to follow. Thanks for doing it and exposing us to some of the terrific SAKs in your collection. :hatsoff:Thank you sir!
