Title: Axem 4.0
Post by: RF52 on December 10, 2018, 08:45:40 PM
Just got this in the mail today from the great Mto store :like:

First impressions are that it's bigger than I thought it would be, and seems to be quite sturdy

It was not very sharp so I might have to sharpen a few bits here and there.

And the arrow head/spear point is very loose so that will easily fall out, but I might take it out anyway.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/20ef332dc7b75aca9c9e44ea5729e8d9.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/15129aac4a1e8a622acf5aaa046d2870.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/6c674d968b25cd4cf442b01245152088.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/027f32d3949ccbcb97d28bbc7920d68f.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181210/b71f36ee06c3706fc6808a472f73e922.jpg)

I recommend that you sharp blade and cutters, also check flatheads cause those might be too thick.

The Steel Life Axem 4.0???

Let me save you some of the suspense...

When I used it as a chisel to trim a wooden shelf to fit where needed, this tool held its own like a Sherman tank. After a great deal of taking a claw hammer to the back edge of the Axem, it is left just as sharp as when I started and without any noticeable scratches or signs of use.

Although I have not put it through the entire gamut of possible tests I have great confidence in this tool and highly recommend it! Worth every penny!

I have now carried AXEM for while and used it few times. Its great tooI and it keeps sharpness really long time even when i have used it as axe now i have placed AXEM to my First Aid / Survival pouch. It basicly goes everywhere i go. I did a little test today after work. I need some practice in tying knots (any suggestions are much appreciated).
It does take a beating as I batoned the stick to get the Axem in the "handle" instead of the saw. I find the saw a bit awkward to use without a handle.
The axeblade and ropecutter on mine is as sharp as a butterknife so it didn't chop as good as I would have liked. Need to do something about that soon.
The saw is very sharp though.
And I tested the medium screwdriver, which does the job as long as there is room to turn it as it's quite a beefy "creditcard" tool.
So far I do like it, but mine has some things that needs fixing.

Oh, and one of the O-rings for the spearhead broke when I tried to put it back

Btw, how do you guys carry it?(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190411/4318f11d506db0ad7bb74a0f0441824b.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190411/105b2506b22aa102ddddae4dd70f5eb3.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190411/8e0fb136aeb615eab86923a92b91e2ea.jpg)

Necroing this topic, now i have retired my Axem on my medic pouch, i have used it more as ice scraper and as small axe ( good to cut small woods) still have handle for it but it hasnt seen much action past years. Overall idea was good but still bit too large for actual good use and since i have sharpened chisel part bit too sharp it destroyed my 2 medic pouch, gonna keep it on handle i made (didnt much improve it over years since it works) (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240226/df3e3c6ab4b6e8b9a31784ddb64c9e46.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240226/dd99f99f0dcc9459c84a305dd704e331.jpg)
