Got a small button stuck in seat belt locking mechanism, so that my seat belt couldn't get locked properly...

Made a small "open heart" operation  :multi:

Used Atwood prybaby Ti (thanks Mr. Whippy  :D ) to pry plastic from locking mechanism open...

Then used a Quantum D2 to take a peak inside  :D

At the end used Brewzer (it has narrower point than Prybaby) to pull mechanism half way down and LM P4 to pull out the button...

I love Fridays...

Just because they come right before weekend, and because sometimes I can get out of job earlier (like today (http://edcforums.com/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/wink.png)) but mostly because Serbian POst decided that Fridays are the best days for delivering international packages...

Wooohooooooo!!! Entire weekend to enjoy in new gear!!  :mail: :mail: :mail:

Some nice weather came at last (after all this days of rain...). Watching outcome of floods that hitted central parts of Serbia...  :(

Went this morning to buy some baby food and brought to Red Cross office to be distributed to ones in need...

This was in my pockets:

Plus wallet, iPhone and Timex

So my idea of preparedness was a multitool, a knife and light + some other trinkets...

But after recent situation development here (floods, last winter storm etc.) I started thinking about Get Home Bag and Bug Out Bag. I have watched all those poor people walking away from home while evacuating and carry almost nothing.

I work some 50km away from home, and live besides river... So I decided to build a GHB and BOB for our use, and decided to make it step by step...

At the moment I'm not exactly clear weather I will make both, or I will create one to go with me in car everywhere. I'm aware of the fact that they are essentially for different use, but on the other hand they have a lot in common... They supposed to save your sorry @ss WSHTF!!

So I started with this:

I picked old 17" laptop backpack I don't use anymore...

(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5316/14220641252_da2d3bf7df_c.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/nECvcS)image (https://flic.kr/p/nECvcS) by gojkanstojinovic (https://www.flickr.com/people/120231777@N08/), on Flickr

And threw inside this for now

(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5594/14036335819_3024d2d28d_c.jpg) (https://flic.kr/p/nokTBZ)image (https://flic.kr/p/nokTBZ) by gojkanstojinovic (https://www.flickr.com/people/120231777@N08/), on Flickr

A Dupont full protective suit and mask while I work in waste management company and I am located on LandFill site + regular gloves rubber one side textile on the other.

Besides this I have packed a raincoat made out of rubberized material that should keep me dry at all weather + it can be used as shelter.

This should be written as I go and add things (or throw them out) made as an exercise and for real life situations as mentioned above, so don't go immediately with "Where is FAK? Where is knife? Where is survival kit?" stuff while I need to reconsider my real situation and possible threats!

I'll keep it coming...

(Maybe I should make separate thread on this)

Yeah, I live between TWO rivers so a danger of floodding is always an option. We had some minor ones in the last years, nothig as big as the current ones but it got me thinking quite a bit. My house was built wiht floods in mind actually, the "ground floor" is actually about 1,5 meters raised from the ground. I have something along the lines of a GHB in my car, I posted it in the Winter car kits thread (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,48369.msg806884.html#msg806884) a while back. There are some good ideas there so maybe you'll find some inspiration for your bag.

Thnx for heads up man...

Yeah with all this climate changes we should all be aware of serious problems rising on horizon...

Beautiful children Goj. Happy, healthy and thriving with mom and dad, you're doing a great job. Tell your daughter that Uncle Stew wants a copy of the giant happy face she drew with the heart just above it. I would proudly hang it in my office and tell everyone where it came from. If you can get me a copy of it, I'll pay the shipping.

Nice tool loadout also. Very practical and well thought out. Our extended PM conversations about all sorts of topics make more sense to me now. It's clear what's important to you, wish everyone was that way then there wouldn't be a need for me.

Best to all,
Stew...

So this is what I came up with... Not FAK but combo... Urban carry for what I think I need... I have only one Altoid tin, so combo is how I go now. I'll be getting some Altoids soon I hope so I'll be doing some kits for kids and other idea that I have...

Top to bottom and left to right:
- Toothpick
- seasons (pepper, salt, origano...) - no meal is good w/o seasoning... Salt is also good in survival situations for extended sweating and loosing salt from organism and for creating good electricity conducting solvent
- Sugar - for quick energy boost and hypo glycemic situations
- Duck tape rolled on old credit card
- peace of copper wire
- small silicon rubber bands
- paper clips - McGuyver style
- Bike tire rubber
- Three bandaids
- Curved needle and fishing thread (not exactly kevlar but extremely durable and strong)
- Some medicaments (fever, probiotic, pain...)
- Alcohol swab
- Oval blisters patch
- Sewing kit w/needle, thread, buttons and small safety pins (two in pack plus one far right)
- Fine cotton small cleaning cloth
- SAK Manager w/pen in scales
- VIC nailclipper
- Tweezer
- Tin

I always have on me knife, multi tool and light. So ATM no need to have spare inside.

Swiss+Tech makes them IIRC. I recently bought one off e-bay for around $10.00 and it wasn't worth it. Not for keychain carry at least, so I completely removed the closed end wrench part and just carry it on my keychain. works well. The rest is just the components of a Vic classic in an oversized body. That was my experience. EDCGEAR is known for top of the line equipment so his may be something different but it looks exactly like mine. Hope that helps.

Mine was also hard to open without wrenching on the Phillips head that stuck out. I didn't like it either so I ground it off, now it's a nice lite multi wrench.

Exactly like Stew explained. It's Swiss+Tech wrench something...

Removed all other accessories around (pretty useless for my taste) and keeping this one for those moments when you unscrew a nut and then hole bolt goes with it so you need something just to hold bolt head while unscrewing.

Why I carry this while I have Piranha and PWII - beats me

Now I wanted to pay tribute here to my K9...

Tuesday to Wednesday night she went scouting and in manner of true hunter she found badger hole... She tried to hunt him down but got in a fight... And it went downhill... Badger got on top of her... Cut open her belly and make some lethal wounds...

She came back here on end of her strength...

I've called a vet, and they have been fighting for her life yesterday, but unfortunately the battle was lost.

So this is tribute in loving memory of my late Peggy...

Played in backyard so I found this in my shed

For what it looks like it's Russian made alcohol camping stove...

I've found a bit of medical alcohol sanitizer and poured in... Though didn't have luck in keeping flame constant... It kept on burning down.

There is no leaver for pressurizing small barrel. But there is small valve for keeping pressure out of barrel....

Any idea what to use in this and how to keep it burning?

I've found a bit of medical alcohol sanitizer and poured in... Though didn't have luck in keeping flame constant... It kept on burning down.

There is no leaver for pressurizing small barrel. But there is small valve for keeping pressure out of barrel....

Any idea what to use in this and how to keep it burning?

My Pa keep insisting to poure gasoline inside (i.e. zippo fuel)... But I'm reluctant...

It came from some swap with friend... It need some TLC but it's ok.

The good thing is that wheels with 144 wires are very rare here and themself alone are worth swapping...

Also I've rearranged my keychain carry...

Plain edge.

It is plain edge. Personally I don't like serrated or combi edges...

The knife - while SAKalike is a fittting description - is a quality product made by Richartz in solingen, sadly they moved production from  Germany to China and cut some corners quality wise a few years ago.

I wanted to ask if it is Richartz... It is really quality knife. I saw on blade stainless and Germany so I figured it's something good.

Please tell me are the scissors generic or you modded it adding scissors. And what are they. They do look like vic and they have good quality (I love vic scissors over all others).

The scissors are Richartz and belong to that knife, it´s not a mod. You could order most Richartz Knives in black coated or plain stainless but the scissors have always been stainless - I guess it is because they used a Teflon or similar coating and not BO and scissors would look bad soon or not work properly.

I have pictured some other variants here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,58327.0.html

Richartz uses a whale as a logo, some knives are marked Richartz, some Ricardo and some only say Solingen.

I would rate the scissors below Victorinox and above some Leatherman ones.

Thanks man...

I know about the Richartz brand. Though this is first knife or product i own, AFAIK they do have some multitool models. Tried scissors few times on various chores today and they do perform flawless...

Really love them both. Watch and knife...

Honestly I tucked skx007 in box and in drawer while Casio will sit on my wrist for a while...

Good fit and finish, quality material, threads should get some lube (though I don't have that), three simple modes (no strobe, sos...), pocket clip, momentary on, take both AA and 14500, should be 450lm with 14500 (though I doubt it is OTF), OP reflector nice and deep...

According to manual it should have memory on last used mode, though I haven't saw it working yet - if not that would be my only conplaint so far...

Does it have to be clicked on all the way on, then cycle the mode to what you want, then clicked off for the memory to kick in? If that makes sense.

It make sense... In manual it is like when it is in mode more than 2sec then it remembers...

Thats really not an issue for me... 99 out of 100 I'd keep it in hi. I like when my light starts in hi mode...

Beautiful watch. I love those safe locks on that strap. And good lumen.

Whom makes those scissors? I have something similar from Coughlan. My kids like to use them.

Work vs. dressy

Morning I spent working around the house. Driving to buy something, than back.....

So.... This was my essentials...

Then afternoon to birthday party... Switched to more dressy carry...

As you can see time lap is 3 hours...
