Anyone know what the tool to the right (arrow) is?

There appear to be no fingernail holes on the openers, so I assume the tips of them are to assist deployment.
Awl with sewing hole and fingernail hole.
PowerAccess has all outside tools.

Screwdriver? They are round.
If we compare Poweraccess Delux (left) with the Powerlitre, the two tools are weird. Maybe, that is to open those tools.

I'm noticing different looking lock on the litre and pint from those found on the accesses. Plierhead looks different as well. I'm excited to see new scissors, I just hope these are better than the old SOG scissors.

It looks like they updated the site and corrected the missing photo. Here's the PowerLiter. Weight says 4.6 oz, is that correct? That's pretty light weight for how many implements you get. The PowerPint is only 4.2oz. I am intrigued.

I have no idea, trying to imagine how it would look closed up. Hopefully we'll get a 2nd angle of the tool soon.

I'm kind of digging the PowerPint. That is a lot of functionality for only 4.2 ounces :ahhh
Would rather have a saw than the serrated blade or the scissors but this is definitely on my short list.

I actually really like the selection of tools on the powerpint, and I can't say that about other multitools from them. Liking that thin reamer/awl tool on it!

Wow, that is compelling pricing. Only $40 for the PowerPint? That might be serious competition for the Leatherman Wingman and Gerber Suspension. Fingers crossed the quality of the tool is reasonably good.

That roundness could be due to bad decoupaging skills in Photoshop. IMHO in real life it may be a screwdriver indeed but the graphics dude/dudette was clumsy.
BTW what is a "bolt grip channel" mentioned among PowerAccess's features?

I have a feeling the PowerPint is going to be a big hit for SOG. It takes all the features of a bigger tool like the PowerAccess and cram it into smaller and easier to carry package. I hope they fix all the small lock issue they had on the access it and it makes the Pint perfect.

I agree, till SOG does something like that I'll need to keep some extra bits on hand. The PowerPint appears to have a Phillips driver but no flat driver? Guess we will need extra bits.

We won't know until we get the tools to look at, but I would bet against them being compatible. Most likely case is the componenets not made for it will need serious modding to work.

The pint seems to be a smaller format than a PowerAccess and not the size of say a PowerGrab. I don't feel older SOG tools would fit the new tools due to lock differences and vise versa. Like Gerleatherberman said it would probably require serious missing to work.

Liking the PowerPint... LM Juice killer?
Anybody noticed that the scissor springs on both PowerPint and PowerLitre are similar to the Vic Spirit? Also reversed handles like the Spirit...

Hadn't realised that, good observation. That means it should handle forces better than in the other configuration. It's the same size as a Juice so it could be a strong contender. With all those tools and compound leverage it's possible.

I tested the powerpint scissors on paper and super thin plastic sheets, seen decent, not the greatest but better than old SOG scissors by far.

Can't wait to get that PowerPint in my hands. Didn't realize it would fit in a watch pocket, now I see why the clip wasn't super deep so it could fit in there. This is officially on the must have list. I would say this makes a great multitool for carry when wearing dress clothes, I wouldn't call it "dressy" but it would definitely tuck away very nicely in the inside breast pocket of a sport coat. Maybe that's why the PowerLiter has a corkscrew on it?
*video correction* The guy in the video says on the PowerLiter you lose the scissors to get the corkscrew when you actually loose the file and serrated blade... which is good because I'd rather have the scissors.

I've been carrying a Leatherman S2 for a couple of years now and the PowerPint is very interesting to me. I do use the large flat blade screwdriver on my S2 often, and the PowerPint appears to not have anything other than tiny flat blades.

His response: "If the tool doesn't hurt your hand how do you know if you're working hard?"

Soon, I was told just after SHOT SOG was getting their first shipment from their factory. They will be sent to retailers right after that, I'd say a couple weeks at best.

You can remove the blade and grind off the lock piece on the blade tang. Then the blade will act more like a slip joint. At least in theory, if it is similar to the PowerAccess lock. :)

I agree. But, SOG is not likely to do that anytime soon.
I think if car companies can produce right-side drive cars for the U.K. then SOG could produce a batch of non-locking knife MTs, but I don't think any MT maker has done that. Sounds like a money maker to me. The U.K would be a large amount of potential buyers/users of legalized MTs. :think:

Don't forget tho that in the UK knives of nearly any type (not flick knives push daggers etc) are neither legal or illegal per se, it all depends on the "with good reason" part of the law....
Basically this means you may carry any knife if you have good reason to do so......Work leisure etc.... so I happily carry fixed and lockers at work because they are part of my work, yes we still get the odd copper being a bit overzealous ( OAP arrested for having a SAK in his car)...
But carrying a multi tool at a nightclub will see you done.

Basically this means you may carry any knife if you have good reason to do so......Work leisure etc.... so I happily carry fixed and lockers at work because they are part of my work, yes we still get the odd copper being a bit overzealous ( OAP arrested for having a SAK in his car)...
But carrying a multi tool at a nightclub will see you done.

The MT companies, especially SOG, need to start producing MTs with just the blade that doesn't lock for certain markets. Even Canada has fell into non-locking knife laws, so it seems it would be prudent for MT makers to make MTs with only the blade non-locking. Bladeless MTs are o.k. for this situation, but everyone needs some kind of cutting tool on them! :ahhh

I just received the power access deluxe today... upon opening the package it was quite oily. The tool itself isn’t bad but you can tell the quality has dropped since my made in America powerlock was made. The locking bars weren’t bent evenly and one stuck out a few mm from the handles and had to be bent in place. The plier head is about .5mm off from the tips lining up... the tool locks work fine but one is harder to release then the other... the grinds on the can opener are slightly uneven... the awl is sharp but has a funky spot on the backside like it was miscut.... and of course the file is about as useless as all sog files 😂 overall tho it’s not bad and thankfully still flicks open like the powerlock. All the minor flaws aren’t that bad tho and don’t change any functions.the lock bar was easy to fix. Overall I’m happy...... just hope the rather thin lockbar pins and springs don’t snap... only time will tell

I am still very excited to get mine! The regular access had flaws, but I was able to fix them (even though I shouldn't need to). The QC is probably the biggest reason SOG can't gain more market share. Their prices are close to U.S and Swiss made tools. But, with half the quality control. Too much R&D and not enough QC.. :facepalm:

I feel like this was discussed before but I could not find anything on the forum :think: :think:
The 2018 SOG tools have that "matte" finish compared to the older shiny finishes. Does that make a difference when it comes to resistance to rust? It feels like the microscopic dents and holes in the matte finish makes the tool more prone to rusting. Also, on SOG website the older tools are said to be "420 stainless steel" while the new models are just "stainless". Any ideas?

Older SOGs had polished handles and really early SOG pliers heads were polished. Starting around the time SOG moved production overseas, the plier heads were finely machined(ground) and looked "shiny", but that isn't true polishing. Throughout, some implements had a high polish, with exception of a few implements(ex. Phillips) that are finely machined(not actually polished).
Theoretically, the "stone wash" finish should be more resistant to corrosion than a finely machined finish. A machined finish, which is essentially a "grind", which has thousands of peaks/valleys when viewed under heavy magnification. The stone wash has a fairly even surface and will prove more rust resistant than a "bead blasted" or "satin" finish.
The handles on the newer tools not being polished shouldn't be an issue if you keep the non-used surfaces oiled a couple time a year.
High polish has no equal in corrosion resistance, but most other MTs have a satin/bead blast/etc finish and hold up well anyway. So, a high polish isn't exclusively corrosion resistant. Steel type plays a big role as well. Tools with high polish can and do develop rust without care and oiling.
The SOG stone wash finish is NOT a bead blast finish. It is what it says it is. The parts are tumbled with slightly abrasive stones to achieve the "stone wash". This also smooths the edges as well.
I imagine the steel is similar in composition to other SOGs, but since so many people put too much importance on the "type of steel" instead of the "type vs. what it is for", SOG may not want to put it on their site(or someone didn't know). But, if asked politely, they would probably find out for you.
Edit: don't forget the biggest problem polished handles have. It is slippery. The Stone wash feels a bit less slippery in the hand.
SOG still makes the PowerAssist and PowerLock, so they aren't really replacing the old styles, but they seem to be trying to get in on a different MT user market. The "cool"/"tacticool" style started in the PowerPlay, but has evolved to the nice style we see on the Access. :cheers:
