Title: Looking for SOG Powerlock
Post by: Anthony on December 18, 2006, 05:47:42 AM
Just wondering if anyone here had a Powerlock they'd like to turn into cash.  Prefferably a black oxide version in decent condition with a sheath.

I'd like to spend no more than $45 although I'm not even sure what a Powerlock would go for new in a store...no one around here carries SOG.

Someone break me out of the Gerber habit ;)

I don't know your location, but I see SOG PowerLock tools and a couple of SOG knives now being sold at Lowes home center stores in the USA.

Hmm, I've never checked Lowes physically...I typed 'SOG' into the search on the Lowes site, nothing came up so I assumed they didn't carry that brand.

I'll have to take a drive up there this week.

What section would the multi tools be in at Lowes?  I know at Home Depot the Leatherman stuff is closeby to the flashlights and razor knives...

My Powerlock is from Lowe's.  The Lowe's stores that I've been in had them placed a bit randomly in the tools section.  The only version that I've ever seen there is the S-62, which is stainless steel with the v-cutter (instead of the scissors).  I forget what Lowe's charges for them.

You could probably save yourself the possibility of a disappointing drive by calling Lowe's and speaking with somebody in the tool department.  I think that the model number is even printed on the back of the package, near the UPC.

Damn, I seem to know everything except what they cost at Lowe's.

I think I paid about 56 dollars for mine at a Lowes here in Virginia. They are usually on an end cap in the tool section.

I have not bought one, but checked at my local Lowes (Grandville, MI) they are also $56-$60 and also on an end cap.  They also have 1/2 inch of dust on them compared to the LMs they offer.  I can't remember the model, but they are now on my wish list  8)

Might be a little late but there are 2 Powerlocks for sale in the B/S/T forum of at Bladeforums for 30$ each.

This is a really good deal. I can PM you a link if you need it, they are fairly well buried in the threads.
