Hey it's not Saturday for most of us yet ya know :pok: But isn't it Gerber month right now? All these different themed days within themed months is ka-razay :ahhh I love it ;) I'll try to carry either my Swisstool or Spirit tomorrow, although I missed the Diesel today since I wasn't able to carry it. I haven't carried the Swisstool for a while now as it really has proven to be too heavy in most of my attire. It's a pity too, as I really like it :-[

Sure but at least you now know what to carry tomorrow. :P Yes it is Gerber month. And tomorrow I will finish off the weeks carry. ;)
Nice idea SG, but I don't think it would go over well at work

Need some ideas of what to carry for the rest of the week...
Yup, it is Saturday here.
It sat in my jeans all day while riding my motorcycle in the rain.
On the end of the day the sun came and it was used to open some beers. :drink:

QuoteNeed some ideas of what to carry for the rest of the week...
How about Sunday 'Ton' day - carry as many MT's, SAK's, torches, watches, fixed blades etc as you possibly can.
Or 'Pun' day, like 'today I am carrying my Eggsplorer', or 'Here is my Cidertool' or 'I am EDC'ing my Fieldmouser this morning' . This option has a very limited shelf life.
Unday Sunday - Not sure what this entails, but it definitely rhymes.
Or, and don't bite my head off for this one, 'None' Day Sunday, where you face the world WITHOUT AN MT.
Anyway MT'ers, food for thought.
You could do a thread, but also include your suggestion for Sundays as I want to know :)

I actually ended up going with my Diesel today while we worked at our house. It came in handy a couple times too.

I just felt the Diesel was a better carry for potential dirtier work. Plus I missed it yesterday.....and didn't want to risk dirtying up or damaging the Swisstool as I may end up selling it ;)I actually ended up going with my Diesel today while we worked at our house. Bought a reclaimed oak tabletop at the recycling centre today and have been sawing it down to size for an extra bit of horizontal space in our tiny flat.Must have action shots....must have action shots....
I used the Spirit to wheedle out a few stubborn screws, and then used the philips to install a new towel rail in the bathroom.

Great pic I didn't notice the ants until magentus mentioned it :tu:
the Swisstool is indeed a great piece of work, but be warned that it is bulky and heavy, if that matters to you. I loved mine, but I just couldn't get past the weight of it after a while. The Spirit is much lighter, and just as versatile though.
Sent from my XT901 using Tapatalk
I've heard that. I carry a 95 vintage Leatherman Super Tool fairly regularly, but I notice the weight. I've always been partial to the PST for the reason that it's so light. How much of a difference is there between the weights of the Swiss Tool and the Spirit? I'm partial to Victorinox from all my years with my Huntsman, and am drawn to the quality of the Swiss Tools. I'm in central Pennsylvania and Swiss Tools are rare animals in these parts.

I like the landrover :tu:
my dad also owns a landrover 109 v8.
Unrealible, slow, uncomfortable, you have to yell to eachother to talk while riding to get over the wind and engine noise, when riding spiders get out of all the corners and come crawling on you and some parts are bad designed like the slide windows where grass grows in the lowers slide rail.
I love them :ahhh. And the prices are rising every day :tu:
Landrover really had a great marketing team in what people want from a car.
I see that you have a defender, that is probably much better designed than the previous series.

Sadly the land rover isn't mine, I can't afford one ,That's my work vehicle.
The new defenders are brilliant and find them fast and comfortable but I'm only small , Land Rovers are great but I do think there overpriced. But saying that if I could afford one I would buy one over most vehicles as I've driven them for years and I learnt to drive in a land rover on the farm so I've always been a fan

Truth is i don't even pouch carry it. It rides my jeans pocket 7 days a week. Because the tool is relatively slim but long i barely notice its there. A Supertool 300 is much wider, the stx almost fits inside the handle of the st300 if i am not mistaken.

I carry the Spirit a lot in my pocket, but the STX is heavier and boxier, so not comfy for me. If it had a clip I would carry it that way, the Surge was much easier to carry with a clip than I expected. Wish I could figure out what Vic has against pocket clips... ???

I agree about the pocket clips, i guess they find that it ruins the clean look of their tools.
I have seen some people mod a pocket clip to it. I am not sure if there is a way to glue a pocket clip to a tool.
The industrial glue these days is extremely strong, even car bodies are made of glued pieces.

I added a NiteIze clip to my STX and it is holding up great. It just uses some VHB tape and requires a nice clean surface (ie alcohol wipe) to adhere to. I didn't rough up the surface either. Been going for about 8 months of use now. :tu: Just make sure to let the tape set for the required 3 days for maximum adhesion.

I'm used to pocketing the Spirit now, so a clip would be nice, but is not absolutely necessary. There are some excellent clip mods, the latest (and cleanest) one I have seen recently is Hiraethus' here >> http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,64612.0.html . The adhesives these days are pretty amazing, so that's an option too, but I think a factory mounted one would be sweet, like the Sentinel has. A removable one like the Wave/Charge/Surge clip would be even better. Since Vic has already capitalized on the LM idea, it would be nice to see them evolve and compete a little quicker in the market. :tu:

My friend went to Montreux, Switzerland and he bought two Swisstools with great discount. The storekeeper told him that Victorinox will discontinue the Swisstool. Is it true?
Disturbing if true, browsing the corporate websites I see only the SwissTool X model available, but still 2 versions of the Spirit. Maybe someone in contact with Vic people could confirm?
???
The 2016 catalog shows all the previous versions of the SwissTool and the Spirit, so I'm guessing they haven't discontinued any of them yet, but they also haven't improved or changed them.
I still think a factory detachable pocket clip for the Spirit would be a good option, but I don't see this idea materializing anytime soon. :-\

Not this year, but the Swisstool has seen incremental changes over the years, like many SAK tools have. MultiMat posted some good photo comparisons a couple years ago (http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,2463.msg497278.html#msg497278). There was also the relatively recent switch to the sheepsfoot serrated knife. You might think (maybe even hope) that coming up on 20 years they'd have something else, but it's still one of the best tools around. Victorinox is pretty conservative, and clearly the Swisstool is a long term investment for them. Now, if only they could get rid of the lock play. :rant:Quote from: twiliterI still think a factory detachable pocket clip for the Spirit would be a good option, but I don't see this idea materializing anytime soon. :-\
Yeah, unfortunately Victorinox seems to hate pocket clips! I personally don't mind too much, but it would be nice to have the option sometimes.

Hello guys, new to the forums. Since its Saturday and I'm carrying my Swisstool while picking blackberries I figured this would be a good first post.Nice pics, and welcome

Great pics, Twiliter! :tu: Sadly, no STS for me this week as I've been carrying my Leatherman OHT this week. :( Oh well, there's always next week!
Or 2, since the PX-D came along the Spirit has a home in my tool bag with the SwissChamp and friends, so it's never far away. Since I gifted a couple away I am getting low on SwissTools! :ahhh
Maybe I can recycle this pic for SCS! :D

Where'd you find that version of the SOS pouch? I'd like to get one to house my Craftsman and some other things.
This topic reminds me even more--I need a SwissTool!
Noooooooooooooooooo! Forgot again!

I’ve had a Swisstool Spirit X for about a month now. Is it normal for the scissors specifically to be so difficult to pull out? I can get them extracted but half the time it nearly rips my nail out.

Yes, they need a bit of a stronger pull :salute:
Since I’ve done it yesterday and it was Saturday - I’ll also post it here
We’ve moved to a new place. New place - new challenges
Today started bright and early - at 6:30 AM to be precise - I woke up to some conversations that seemingly happened right next to our bed in our room After a few moments of careful listening I found a hole in the floor with a piece of a badly cut tube in it and I even could see our neighbor’s place through it. That’s how I could hear their radio or TV loud and clear for the entire night
(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20220702/11e73886957bf5f5df7c19e2089c5fb1.jpg)
No action shots, but I used my LM Wave’s saw to trim the excess tube and stuffed a hole with cotton - we’ll see if it’ll work tonight .
Later I’ve found a similar hole in the kitchen. But anyway.
This place may become a tad better for sleeping after I patched that hole, but it totally sucks as a workplace, which is a must for us at the moment. So I’ve found that Jysk has some cool tables at 50% discount, found one I liked and brought it home. Spirit X Plus took care of the rest. And my god I’m grateful for having at - I used quite a few tools during the assembly and the ratchet is absolutely priceless
Here’s the end result:

Had the silver Swisstool X for 20 years, bought the BS, Victorinox made it a X for me, changed the serrated blade for scissors and the cap crimper plier for a normal one. Been very happy with it.
Thanks, i just asked nicely if this was possible. Would not have bought a black one otherwise, i need those scissors often. They even let me keep the blade, wanted it for a future project of a modded sak:P
How do you guys like the pocket clip on a Spirit?I like it. I am not sure I like the one hand opening on my MX clip as much as I thought I would. I seem to prefer the original version and like how it slips in a pocket with ease. I would add a clip to that version and have been looking at doing just that for my BS variants.
Been eyeing one for a bit now.

Have someone made SwissTool challenge for this year yet? (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240217/0aa86a811603c74b76c352a314244e2f.jpg)
