Title: The under Sog (powerplay)
Post by: Zed on April 30, 2017, 02:38:10 PM
I got the powerplay last week, originally for my 9yr old for camping trips, sadly it's a tad bulky and locks hard for her fingers, well after my discovery of yet another badly made file,I was hoping for some of its other functions to well function  :D Well today I had major work to do in my yard,I had a very big shrub to cut down, the branches was thick but the saw worked a treat ,but when i folded it back in it was bent  :-\ the pliers rubbed on it so I bent it back ,next I needed to unscrew a bracket off my gate, so I thought great ill use the bit adapter ,oh dear the driver bit just slips even with a hard grip  :-\  so I tried the Phillips on the sog, sadly it just slipes, not going well for its first tests  :-\ I'll keep trying it,I did remove some folding legs off a old camping table and the Phillips was ok  :tu:

That's a shame it's so crappy Zed.  You want to swap it back for the Squeak?

Well took it fishing today, it actually came in handy a few times, could it redeem it self ? Well I was going to swap it for a blast but I've decided to give it a far test  :tu:

This all I approve! I spend some time with mine. Took some pictures too, but my cable from the camera is missing. :)

Used only blade and phillips but it performed good. I can see how it will turn SOME screws. Thanks for the thread, fun to check out!

Well a interesting turn of events today,I was back out in the yard so took both powerplay and ST,I noticed that the handle covers was loose and as was 2 screws,I removed them and added locktite ,tightened them up,the handles still click open but don't flip around, plus no clumping now  :D it feels a more solid MT now , :salute:

Hi Zed, Hi everyone,

Just curious on how the PowerPlay is performing/under performing after some time?

Any way to maybe compare it to a PowerAssist?

Thanks!

Traded it mate a while ago,I really wanted to like it but it just under performs compared to say LM ,it's certainly a cool looking MT but not for me,

Overall I like the powerplay and feel it's pretty decent. It's not the best SOG out there but I've used it quite a bit and it can hold it's own. A lot of people feel the lock release gets in the way when using the tool, I personally don't have any issues with it. Only thing I can mention is the blades are a little hard to open without my thumb slipping on the opening. I've got it well lubed up and tension adjusted so it's not as bad as when I first got it.
