Would a supertool300/surge/core awl or the PST awl/punch fit in a wave as a replacement for one of the many flathead screwdrivers? This thing has more flat head screw drivers than I'd ever need.

Your best bet would be the tools from the original Super Tool or PST as the handles have similar heights. The Core, Surge and ST300 probably won't work, since they have locking tools and not lock-back tools like the original Wave.

I found a seller with the PST one for a decent price of $8 shipped. it appears to be thin enough and I could replace the two small useless flatheads that look like they'd break off anyway, then I would probably need a little washer as a spacer. I ordered it and I will see if it works out. Also the lanyard ring is a serious annoyance on the phillips head side, maybe that would work as a spacer on the other side and then put the washer where the lanyard ring was.

You need to keep in mind that the plier head takes up space when closed. Because of that only the outer tools can be "high", the one in the middle needs to be "lower" to the base of the handle. The awl in the PST is high. I think you should be able to replace the outer screw driver on the side with the scissors.
The knurly screws on the PST are hard to open. A little heat (e.g. soldering iron) helps. Or brute force if you only want to selvage the one part ;)

Ah, I ordered just the Awl for $8 shipped, not killing a PST for it. :)
I was wondering about that, measuring it with my micrometer and I think that if I remove the two outermost flat head screwdrivers on that scissors side which are 3.2mm combined, and then substitute a thin washer/shim and the awl on the outermost of the two spots, which is 2.3mm. Those two screwdrivers look like they'd break off anyway they are so tiny, and I don't need that size screwdriver anyway.

The easiest way would be to turn the Medium screwdriver into an awl.

Thank you everyone for all the info and to italophil for the PM with photos of his tools.
I need to get the proper size torx 5 star tamper bits. I am not sure if I have T8 or T10 for the 2002 wave. I don't want to order the incorrect size bits and I will need two. Can anyone who has dissassembled the original generation waves let me know if I need a T8 5 star or a t10 5 star?

Just so this doesn't go missing cause of PB, which was rightfully a post on MTO that I saved. Of course this is a Charge TTi, and I've got a Rebar Awl in mine. :D

Got the awl and the bits necessary to take apart the wave.
Edit: Could not be easier! They didn't do a good job applying locktite from the factory and it was very easy to take apart. I didn't bother with a shim. The tools feel nice and tight. Shot some sewing machine oil in and it moves real nice. Puts nice holes in wood. I will put a few drops of blue loctite on the threads. The awl was basically a drop in replacement. I did not need to modify any of the components, I just removed the two smallest flathead screwdrivers and installed the awl in their place.

Does this scissors look like its correct? I think the washer went on the outside but I wasn't sure. It doesn't quite look right as its folded. Is the washer backwards or something? I put it so the center ridge of the washer fit into the hole on the scissor's spring, so the ridge is facing towards the center of the handle.
Thinking I might need to put a shim on the awl side to get that scissors to sit straight.

I think you need a washer to make up the difference in thickness between the awl and the two drivers removed.

Correct :) Just expanded it a bit and I see that it would sit straight, so I'll do some research on shims and then update the thread when I get one that works :)

I took a look at my OG Wave. The scissors get slightly pushed to the side and thus straightened out by the middle screw driver's side. With the screwdriver open, it looks like your picture. I doubt that a circular spacer will be long enough to straighten out the scissors.

I added this 5x8x0.5mm stainless steel shim washer to the handle. It doesn't hold the scissors perfectly straight but everything fits together much better. I think it was worth it.
Left to right:
Scissors, Shim, Flathead, Awl
Now it closes and opens nicely and the tool feels much more solid. Very happy. Now I wonder if I can sharpen this awl without a huge effort, its not very sharp.

I used a micrometer to figure out the size I needed. I found out later you can buy them in bronze from Knifekits.com, bronze might have been better but don't think it matters much.
