Title: Help needed please...FIXED
Post by: Flash on October 25, 2008, 10:24:31 PM
Dudes and dudesses,

I am currently operating Vista and everytime I load a new page on this site only I get the "Connect broadband connection" box come up.

I then have to click cancel as my broadband is always on and I never use this connection box.

Thing is...its only on this site and is REALLY starting to annoy me  >:(

(maybe my wife is responsible to keep me from spending our money)

Can anyone help,

Thanks,

Flash

Not sure but when I have PC problems I try turning off 1 thing at a time then turning it back on and see if that works

I'd start with the PC 1st then if that doesn't help turn off you broadband modem plus if you have a wireless router turn them both off at same time and then on at same time

 Hope that helps but I am no expert ::) :D

Whilst that can cure some silly glitches and connection problems, I don't see that doing anything for this problem.

I'm waiting for the traditional Mac post.  :D

Interesting- I run Windows Home Basic on my laptop and I don't have that issue at all.  I usually run a wireless connection to my DSL modem and I don't see anything like that.  My guess would be (and remember, I don't know much about this stuff!) would be that it's got something to do with either your connection, or the way it's set up in your computer.  I know you said that it only happens when you access this site, but that's where I would start looking.  I'd also try Whoey's suggestion as he's somewhat more knowledgeable about this stuff than the av-er-age bear.

it's not about the connection, it's about the internet service provider's DNS servers not resolving for the domain, thus the browser pukes up a can't find the page response when in reality nothing is wrong. I also had a similar thing happening with the multitool website under linux. My guess is that the host's DNS server is not very stable, and the minute our DNS server looks it up, doesn't get a response, and flushes the info... I think Open DNS keeps the data a bit longer...

Its goone.   :o

 :b2t:

I have more trouble accessing multitool.org than about anywhere else. I tried the overly simplistic approach of just aiming at the IP but that didn't get me very far :(

I am the exact opposite.  I find MTO the easiest and most consistant place to go on.  That's why I am here so often.  :D

Benner I could kiss you all over  :P

His comment regarding my avatar got me to thinking...sure enough the link to this jpeg had expired and was searching for the host every time I logged on...thus causing the problems.

I have downloaded my own jpeg and everything works fine.

Benner, better brace yourself for the meet  :pok:

Thanks,

Flash (woof woof)

He's too young to grow a proper beard.  Time to stick on the paracord faux beard again I'm afraid.  How long did it take to get the hot glue off your face last time Ben? :D
