Title: Victorinox Golf Tool
Post by: Rux on June 28, 2014, 07:05:23 PM
Hi all.

Stepdad's birthday is coming up and he golfs every Sunday. Was considering getting him the golf tool but I rarely golf and have never seen the tool in person.

Was hoping to get some feedback on the usefulness of the tool from those who have actually put it to use. Seems cool, but possibly just a gimmick and I would hate to buy him something that just ends up in a drawer.

Well my Father liked his and apparently so did the smurfhole that stole it from his bag.

I gave it too him but I don't play golf so I have no idea if it's any use or not.

Cheers

Of course, now I know what the actual tools do after re-reading the tool description. When it said ball marker, I didn't realize it was a piece you put down to represent where your spot was. I was thinking there was some type of Sharpie or something built into that thing to "mark" which ball was yours. lol!

There is choice in terms of golf centric tools...

The Victorinox Golfer I have came in a nice for US market kit. It dates to the late 90s. Still if you can find one...very nice.

I gave one weird looking Victorinox ones to one of my groomsmen. His only question was, is it legal? It looked nice, fairly easily pocketable.

I never understood what/why this SAK - which I know is a Golfer - had anything at all (eg a tool ???) to do with Golf.

I gave one weird looking Victorinox ones to one of my groomsmen. His only question was, is it legal? It looked nice, fairly easily pocketable.
It's only an executive length blade - So smaller even than the regular 91mm blades - So should be OK in most countries - especially on the golf course. People are so paraniod - and regulations ridiculous sometimes.

I gave a modern Vic golfer to my nephew - who is a golfer - He loved it - But I have not had much usage feedback as we live a long way apart.

I personally love the tool - And wish I was a golfer - so I could get one!!
It has one major flaw to me though - No pen for your scores - Why would you have a tp or tw on a golf tool in preference to a pen?? Nuts! ???
I fed this back to Vic last year.

Chako - You are amazing/ridiculous  8) I thought it was Leathermans in which you speSmurfpillse. Seems you do saks pretty well too.

Oh yes I have - I spotted your collection on MTo even before I joined MTo!! And thought 'Oh my goodness!'
I've just heard you say in the past 'I mainly do LMs', 'Not so interested in old stuff'......
Come on admit it - You do everything  :gimme:  :D
