Title: Robert Lessard Custom Owner's Thread
Post by: s1xty7 on January 25, 2017, 06:00:46 PM
In another thread, it was mentioned there should be an owner's thread for the fine work of Robert Lessard (Syph007).  It's a neat idea to see the range of work Robert has covered over the years.  Owners, please include some details about your custom and post up a few pics.

Here's mine:

Model Name: Inventor
Size: 93mm with titanium scales
Tools:
 - 93mm main blade
 - 93mm awl
 - 93mm flat head screwdriver/bottle opener
 - 91mm 3D phillips

Original Delivery Date: 02/18/2016

This beauty sees daily use and is exactly what I was hoping for.  Thanks, Robert!

The anodizing is holding up well.  I've dropped it on concrete a couple of times so there are some chips on the scales.  I tell myself this adds character...

The 84mm nail file sits too low , so there needs to be some modification to make it accessible because otherwise the scale will be in the way preventing one drone being able to open the nail file.

He cut one of his custom springs on an angle so that the file sits in an a more upright position, this way the nick just sits above the scale. At least this is how I remember how he told me he did it..

Here's mine. It started as an explorer with the nail file / hook from a compact. I switched out the small blade for an inline awl and dyed all of the plastic black to match the liners.

In another thread, it was mentioned there should be an owner's thread for the fine work of Robert Lessard (Syph007).  It's a neat idea to see the range of work Robert has covered over the years.  Owners, please include some details about your custom and post up a few pics.

Here's mine:

Model Name: Inventor
Size: 93mm with titanium scales
Tools:
 - 93mm main blade
 - 93mm awl
 - 93mm flat head screwdriver/bottle opener
 - 91mm 3D phillips
 - 91mm metal saw/file
Original Delivery Date: 02/18/2016

As delivered:

Scale change on 09/01/2016 after Robert received his new CNC:

This beauty sees daily use and is exactly what I was hoping for.  Thanks, Robert!

I just picked up my first custom from Bob on eBay.  Blue anodized Ti and brass Super Tinker.  This thing is truly amazing to behold.  Excellent fit and finish, and all the tools have great “snap.”  I’ve been emailing back and forth with Bob about making a custom all-Ti Scientist with back scale drawer.  I’d also like to have him convert my Explorer to alox one day.  Point being this is just the first of what will likely turn into several Syph007 customs for me.

Is that where he sells more is on eBay? The website seems to have been abandoned. I'd like to look at the amazing work, and potentially buy one. Or are they straight custom where you work out the details direct with him and go from there?

Amazing stuff. Some of the very best saks out there for sure!

Instagram is where I post everything I do and do most of my business.  I desperately need to pay someone to redo my website, I dont have the time at all.  I have a couple models listed on ebay but by far I mostly build ordered customs.  Dont get me wrong Im happy to be busy, Im just not sure how I can streamline the custom order process.  Maybe some kind of click and sumbit thing on the site with options...

I just happened upon two knives he had for sale up on eBay... this one, and an all-brass Spartan.  Most of his work is custom orders, but I think he made up a batch of these Super Tinkers to sell.

My first from Robert’s expert hands:

A Super thinker, with brass liners, blue Ti scales, matching brass tweezers.
I then, sent it to the EU, for some decorative work, namely some filing of the springs, scissors and main blade. I just love the European knife filling. Reminds me of the Laguiole knives I have cherished since my grandad gave me one 48 years ago. Anyways I digress.

Tex,
The gent is a member here: Michel M, he and Robert were discussing the intricacies of the Syph springs and postand screws assembly. This ensured a beautiful fit in France after the file work was done. Them two fellows should get together and produce the best knives one could get.

I own two custom Voyageurs from Bob.  The first is an 84 mm knife I had him make from a Golfer that I was the original owner of.  It has orange scales and Bob peened the brass pins over beautifully.   I have attempted this now myself so I know how difficult it is to do.

The second is a 93 mm Voyageur with silver scales.  This knife uses the Torx screws instead of pins, and is one of my favorite EDC's.

Thanks all,

Myron

This is such a great thread, I’m shocked it’s been dead for 3 months. Alright, I have a few customs in the works. I’d love to post them on here and discuss them once they’re all done and shipped. My issue is posting photos, still trying to figure that out. Every photo I take is too large.

Anyway, I will be back. Beautiful pieces. Love all the customized logos!

Here is my Yeoman by Robert.

It is the same toolset as the discontinued 91mm Yeoman except instead of the package hook it has an awl with sewing hole.  It has his brass magnifier.  The front scale is Timascus, while the back is titanium with dual rulers.

I recently had a custom SAK made to my specs by Robert Lessard (AKA SAKModder and here at MTo as Syph007).

Wow… what an exquisite work of art and craftsmanship!  It is a beautiful gem.  Having used custom Yeomans, that I have made, for a couple of years now, I was confident that a Yeoman made by Robert would serve me well.  It is still slightly less thick than the Yeomans I have made, even though it has a fold out drawer built into the back scale.  Now I can use my older Yeomans as my beaters, and this one as my dress knife.

Custom Yeoman features on this knife:
-Titanium Scales with a diamond pattern (tumbled finish, and a polished cross).
-Fold Out Drawer in scales for Toothpick, Tweezers, Pen and Ferro Rod or Leatherman Screwdriver bit.
    -Steel Pivots with torx screws
-Magnifier frame made of Silver Nickel
    -Titanium Liners

Thank you again, Robert!   :hatsoff:

Here are some photos showing this gem.  The last photo shows it snuggled up with a Kaweco Steel Sport and an Eagtac D3A Ti Flashlight in a Yellow Birch Outfitters PocKit Pico Classic Carry.

Let’s bump this up.

Well, here’s a club I didn’t think I’d ever be in. Just got this urban pioneer with inline Philips in a trade. Got to admit, that Philips on a 93mm alox is pretty cool!
