Title: Ideas for the ultimate SAK
Post by: CQC-7 on January 10, 2007, 05:03:19 AM
I would like to know what some people out there think about this.  What is the "Ultimate SAK."  What would it look like, what materials, what basic tools, what size, etc...  You know, then next best cutting tool until someone develops a pocket size lightsaber.

In my opinion, the ultimate sak would have titanium, aluminum, G-10, or carbon fiber scales, a pocket clip, 2 baldes 154CM or S30V, one serrated, one plain, not be wider than 3 layers, and have most basic tools like screwdrivers and the like.  Oh, yeah and a glass breaker on the end.

This is the 21st century.  SAKs need a removable steel clip so they can be more easily carried in a pocket.

You'd probably get a better discussion going in the SOSAK forum at Knifeforums.com since it's a dedicated SAK forum.

For me, the only Ultimate SAK is the next one...

I know I'd probally get a better response elsewhere.  The knife doesent have to be a SAK made by Victorinox or Wenger, Just a SAK type knife.  I am just trying to see if anyone out there agrees with my Ideas like better blades, pocket clips, and things I might not have though about.

I think there's room for a better SAK myself.  Here's what I'd like

Better one-handedness (I still can't get the OHT opened easily)
Pocket clip
Better-milled screwdrivers
Better steel

The Leatherman knives are actually approaching this, but don't have enough tools for my taste.

I love textured G10.  So this would be great.  There is no reason the G10 couldn't be colored Red.  Also, I'd like to see better steel...there is no question that better steel could be included for a marginal increase in price.  If Vic and Wenger want to use a European steel there is always the great N690Co.

As to tools, I really like the tools that are already in the Vic Electrician Plus.
